Laken Riley trial highlights Biden-era immigration crisis as mom of slain cheerleader awaits justice

Laken Riley trial highlights Biden-era immigration crisis as mom of slain cheerleader awaits justice

ATHENS, Ga. — “Angel mom” Jacqueline Medina, whose daughter Lizbeth Medina was allegedly murdered by a Mexican illegal immigrant in December 2023, on Wednesday joined a chorus of voices responding to the guilty verdict and sentencing for Laken Riley murderer Jose Ibarra, a chorus that included President-elect Donald Trump and his allies.Athens-Clarke County Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard found Ibarra, 26, guilty of 10 counts in connection with Riley’s Feb. 22 murder. Those charges included one count of malice murder, three counts of felony murder, one count of kidnapping, one count of aggravated assault with intent to rape, one count of aggravated battery, one count of hindering a 911 call, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of being a “peeping Tom.” Haggard sentenced Ibarra to life in prison without the possibility of parole after hearing victim impact statements from Riley’s friends and family on Wednesday afternoon.”I am deeply moved to see that Laken Riley’s family has received some measure of justice,” Medina told Fox News Digital of the verdict in a statement. “While no verdict or sentencing can ever erase the pain of losing someone so young and full of promise, we hope this brings them a small sense of closure in their ongoing grief.”LAKEN RILEY MURDER: JUDGE SENTENCES COLLEGE STUDENT KILLER AFTER FAMILY ADDRESSES ‘MONSTER’ IN COURTMedina said Riley and her daughter “had so much in common – they both dreamed of becoming nurses, were vibrant and full of potential, and were both victims of senseless violence.””Their stories remind us of the devastating consequences these acts of cruelty leave behind,” Medina said. “At the same time, I cannot help but reflect on our own fight for justice. Our case is being held behind closed chambers, and we are left in the dark about critical developments. Just yesterday, we learned about the motion for an insanity plea, which has now delayed the court process by an additional two months. Our trial, originally set for December 2, 2024 – nearly a year after Lizbeth’s murder – has been pushed back even further.”TRUMP WIN MOVES SLAIN CHEERLEADER’S MOM TO TEARS AS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT FACES MURDER TRIALMedina feels she has been left in the dark throughout the legal process, and the recent delay has compounded her family’s “frustration and heartbreak.””Our families deserve transparency, and this case should receive the same priority and urgency as Laken Riley’s and Jocelyn Nungury’s grieving families[.] We all share the same pain and the same goal: to see justice served for our loved ones,” Medina said. “Just as Laken’s family has received a step toward closure, we too long for justice for Lizbeth. Through all of this, we are united in our sorrow, our resilience, and our support for one another as we navigate these difficult times together.”LAKEN RILEY MURDER: FAMILY OF SLAIN UGA STUDENT SOBS IN COURT AS WITNESSES DESCRIBE CRIME SCENE EVIDENCEPoliticians also reacted to the verdict in statements to Fox News Digital on Wednesday. “I am happy with the verdict but it is really too little, too late,” Tom Homan, President-elect Trump’s pick to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under his administration, said in a statement. “The life of Laken was tragically taken by a monster that should never have been here. This is on Biden, Harris and Mayorkas.”LAKEN RILEY’S ALLEGED KILLER JOSE IBARRA FLEW FROM ‘GROUND ZERO’ OF MIGRANT CRISIS TO GEORGIAThe White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital.Brandon Judd, a Border Patrol agent and president of the National Border Patrol Council, said he is “happy the family got closure, but closure will not bring Laken back.””Laken’s murder falls directly on the shoulders of President Biden. He put politics over the safety of U.S. citizens, and Laken paid for his lust for power with her life. While the verdict is welcome, Laken should be alive today,” Judd said.ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CHARGED IN LAKEN RILEY MURDER ‘FAST-TRACKING’ TO LIFE IN PRISON: ATTORNEYPhil Holloway, a Georgia-based criminal defense attorney and former assistant district attorney, said, “Laken Riley died at the hands of a monster.””Joe Biden and the open-borders industrial complex, including leftist sanctuary city policies, led her right into his hands. Her blood is on Joe Biden’s hands. He should have been impeached over this. It’s not too late for that either,” Holloway said. “This should send the message loud and clear to sanctuary cities around the nation that we will not sacrifice another Laken Riley at the [altar] of wokeism.”Holloway added that Ibarra was sentenced to the “absolute maximum possible prison term,” adding that the “evidence was overwhelming, and this conviction will not be overturned on appeal.”In their victim impact statements read in the courtroom on Wednesday, Riley’s family remembered her as a loving young woman who was dedicated to her faith and her future career as a nurse.”Your honor, on February 22nd of 2024, our family and friends were given a life sentence without a chance of parole. Jose Ibarra took no pity on my scared, panicked and struggling child,” Riley’s mother, Allyson Philips, said Wednesday. “There is no end to the pain, suffering and loss that we have experienced or will continue to endure on that horrific day. My precious daughter was attacked, beaten and shown no mercy. She fought for her life and dignity and to save herself from being brutally raped. This sick, twisted and evil coward showed no regard for Laken or human life.”Philips described her daughter as “smart, hardworking, kind, thoughtful, and most importantly, a child of God.” She “had a personal relationship with Jesus, and she loved being the hands and feet of his hands and feet in this world,” Philips said.”She shared her love for our Lord with others through her mission trips, working with elderly at the nursing homes and through her nursing career,” Philips said. “Laken was an amazing friend, sister, niece, daughter and granddaughter. Anyone who knew her knew about her loving heart. Laken’s life was not the only life taken on that day that Jose Ibarra attacked her. The life of her family and friends was taken, too. None of us will ever be the same.”In a gut-wrenching journal entry that Riley wrote in December 2023, according to her stepfather, John Philips, the 22-year-old wrote, “To my future husband, I want you to know that I’m thinking about you and working every day to become the best wife I can be … and focusing on God and what he defines as a faithful Christian wife, so that I can best embody those characteristics.”Prosecutors said Ibarra, a 26-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela, attacked and killed Riley, a 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student, while she was jogging along trails near Lake Herrick on the University of Georgia campus in Athens on the morning of Feb. 22.LAKEN RILEY MURDER TRIAL: PROSECUTORS PLACE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SUSPECT AT SCENE IN OPENING STATEMENTS”On Feb. 22, Jose Ibarra put on a black hat, a hoodie-style jacket and some black kitchen-style disposable gloves, and he went hunting for females on the University of Georgia campus,” prosecutor Sheila Ross said in her opening statement on Nov. 15. Riley’s sister teared up upon hearing Ross’ first statements. LAKEN RILEY MURDER TRIAL: PROSECUTORS PLACE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SUSPECT AT SCENE IN OPENING STATEMENTSRoss said Ibarra saw Riley running along the frequented trials on UGA’s campus just after 9 a.m. on Feb. 22, attacked her, dragged her 64 feet into a wooded area and repeatedly beat her head with a rock, killing her.”When Laken Riley refused to be his rape victim, he bashed her head in with a rock repeatedly,” Ross said on Nov. 15.Riley attempted to call 911 at 9:11 a.m., but the call was disconnected. Prosecutors also said Ibarra’s fingerprint was on the bottom of Riley’s phone, where one might end a phone call.”It is no coincidence that his thumbprint is on her phone,” Ross said Wednesday.WATCH: AUTHORITIES WAKE JOSE IBARRA DAY AFTER LAKEN RILEY’S MURDER:Ibarra and his brothers, also in the United States illegally from Venezuela, lived in an apartment building less than a half mile from the on-campus park where Riley was running. The defendants’ attorney, Dustin Kirby, argued in his opening statement that evidence would not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Ibarra killed Riley. He said it would take “gymnastics” for the prosecution to argue Ibarra killed Riley with what he described as “circumstantial evidence.”LAKEN RILEY MURDER: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SUSPECT IN GEORGIA COLLEGE STUDENT SLAYING ASKS TO HIDE CERTAIN EVIDENCE”If that happens and the presumption of innocence is respected, there should not be enough evidence to convince you beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Ibarra is guilty of the crimes charged,” Kirby said on Nov. 15.The Athens-Clarke County court heard from 29 of the prosecution’s witnesses over three days, with Ross highlighting evidence ranging from Ibarra’s DNA on key pieces of evidence to security camera footage and cellphone data placing him at the location of the crime at the time Riley was killed.ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CHARGED IN LAKEN RILEY MURDER ‘FAST-TRACKING’ TO LIFE IN PRISON: ATTORNEYWitnesses testified that DNA matching Ibarra’s was found in Riley’s fingernails and on a jacket with Riley’s hair recovered from a dumpster near his apartment complex.Ibarra’s defense attorneys argued that evidence against the Venezuelan national is circumstantial, and they have pointed fingers toward Jose’s brothers, Diego and Argenis Ibarra, who share similarities with Jose in their DNA makeup. Diego was also seen wearing the same black Adidas-style hat that prosecutors say Jose was wearing on Feb. 22 when police questioned Diego on Feb. 23. DNA matching Riley’s was found on that same hat.”The facts and the evidence in this case should leave you with some reasonable doubt,” Kaitlyn Beck said in her closing argument on Wednesday, adding later that “while the evidence in this case is voluminous, it is circumstantial.”Much of the defense’s arguments suggested Diego may have had something to do with Riley’s murder. Beck said in her closing statement that “it’s more than possible that one brother’s DNA would get on another brother’s clothes.”Watch: Laken Riley, Jose Ibarra seen on trail camera footage day of murder”I agree with the state, but Laken Riley was physically fit. She was fast. She could have outrun [Jose]. But there’s another suspect in this case who was taller, who was more physically fit, who was wearing sneakers on the day of the murder. And that is Diego Ibarra,” Beck said.Prosecutors, however, noted that security camera footage from a dining hall on UGA’s campus, where Diego worked, showed Diego arriving and leaving work on Feb. 22.Argenis and Diego have been subpoenaed to testify as witnesses for the defense, but the court ultimately decided not to allow their testimony because they are currently involved in their own criminal cases. Jose’s defense attorney, John Donnelly, mentioned that Diego’s defense attorney advised that he should not testify during Jose’s trial while he is currently charged with green card fraud.UGA Police Chief Jeffrey Clark previously described the murder as a “crime of opportunity” during a February press conference.LAKEN RILEY MURDER EXPOSED GLARING SECURITY LAPSES ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES, NEED FOR EMERGENCY BLUE LIGHTSIbarra illegally crossed into the United States through El Paso, Texas, in September 2022 and was released into the U.S. via parole, ICE and DHS sources previously told Fox News. His older brother, Diego Ibarra, who worked briefly in a UGA cafeteria before his arrest in February, is charged with green card fraud and had ties to a known Venezuelan gang in the U.S. called Tren de Aragua, according to federal court documents.ICE previously confirmed to Fox News Digital that Jose Ibarra had been arrested by the New York Police Department a year after he entered the U.S. in August 2023 and was “charged with acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation.”Fox News’ Adam Shaw contributed to this report.

Morning Glory: Worried about the national debt?

Morning Glory: Worried about the national debt?

If Congress won’t slash the spending that constitutes low-hanging fruit – subsidies for National Public Radio, for example, or mandatory reductions-in-force across the vast federal government – there is no point in attempting to warn voters about the national debt. If Congress and the president don’t care about small stuff when it comes to controlling the national debt, why should voters believe the debt is a problem that warrants entitlement reform? If you won’t lose five pounds, should anyone believe you are going to shed 100?Young people worry about the impacts of climate change – a lot. Of course they do. How could they not, given media and elementary and secondary school curricula? Some research suggests 60% or more of high school students will tell surveyors that they view climate change as “an existential threat.” Given how much time and attention is spent on cataclysmic rhetoric about climate change, it is surprising the number isn’t 95%

How about the national debt? Five years ago, Brooking Institute scholar Stuart Butler worried that very few Millennials cared about the national debt despite the projection that the national debt “is rising rapidly and will be close to 150% of GDP by 2050,” and that the total “would easily surpass the previous record during World War II.” STOP THE INSANITY. OUR NATIONAL DEBT NOW TOPS $35 TRILLION…Butler – respected across the political spectrum – noted a “lot of frustration among economists and policymakers about the seeming unwillingness of young Americans to appreciate the enormous threat posed by deficits and debt.””Prophesying fiscal disaster and urging action is a challenging line of work these days,” he concluded. It’s not going to get easier because the electorate does not care about the national debt. Not even young voters care, even though they are going to get stuck with the tab as the last tranche of Boomers bolt the workforce for retirement or eternity.Voters under the age of 30 favored Vice President Harris by a few points in this month’s election, but in crucial states like Michigan it was a statistical tie. The gender gap that played out in 2024 was also present among young voters. The issues that mattered were very different among the young voters choosing Harris over Trump, but neither camp was concerned with the national debt. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION The national debt of the United States is approximately $36 trillion dollars. The Peter G. Peterson Foundation keeps a steady eye on the total debt and on the interest cost of that debt, which is presently almost $2 billion a day, an interest-only slice of the federal budget which is expected to double over the next decade. All of the presidents and all of the members of the House and the Senate of the past 75 years are responsible for spending the $36 trillion which we have collectively borrowed. But neither President-elect Trump nor his successor or their successor will be able to do much about the debt, even as it eats into the future prosperity of every American. Because the electorate simply shrugs off these numbers.Because voters do not care about the debt, the debt won’t be addressed in the first or second budgets of the second Trump term or the laws that pass pursuant to the reconciliation process those budgets unlock. The debt will in all likelihood grow to more than 40 trillion before the 2026 elections have changed Congress again. That’s because President-elect Trump and the Senate and House will agree to extend and revise (and hopefully make permanent) the Trump tax cuts from 2018 and the productivity jolt that certainty about tax rates brings will take some years to show up in total tax receipts.Debt doomsayers are everywhere and everywhere ignored. Reporters in the New York Times warned this week that “[b]udget experts have warned that his plans could add as much as $15 trillion to the national debt while increasing inflation and slowing growth.” Hard to know on what such predictions are based given that we don’t have any idea what the first budget will look like much less the second. But this story was a flare to the rest of legacy media that the left has decided that annual federal budget deficits and the total national debt matter again after President Biden’s four-year spending spree. There will be more coverage of the debt because with the GOP in control, legacy media will want to blame Trump and his allies on Capitol Hill. But will all the hand-wringing ahead result in the national debt registering as an issue among voters?Nah. Not a chance.Inflation mattered in the election – a lot. So did the “wrong direction” number as super-majorities of Americans concluded Bidenomics was a disaster. Stagflation was the undoing of President Jimmy Carter in the 1980 election and it was the undoing of Vice President Harris on November 5. Americans want the economy to boom, not contract or slink along. Trump’s tax cuts being made permanent could unleash productivity again. But don’t expect spending cuts that matter or new revenue streams from any source unless and until there are at least gestures made by the Congress about cutting the cost of the federal government. Don’t blame the public for its indifference to alarms over the debt when Congress is still pulsing grants through the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. If the Congress cannot be serious about obvious cuts of agencies and subsidies that ought never to have been begun, don’t expect it to bring an axe to entitlements or to trot out new tax proposals. If the debt alarms you, figure out a way to express the risk it poses to future generations the way that climate alarmists have persuaded Millennials, Generation Z and Generation Aloha that the future is dark because the planet is going to cook. Young voters worry about getting jobs and buying first houses or about the climate and abortion rights. Don’t expect them, much less the beneficiaries of entitlements, to demand fiscal responsibility unless and until Congress at least makes a show of shaving off the obvious fat.Hugh Hewitt is host of “The Hugh Hewitt Show,” heard weekday mornings 6am to 9am ET on the Salem Radio Network, and simulcast on Salem News Channel. Tennessee man convicted for Jan. 6 riot found guilty of plotting to kill FBI agents who investigated him

Tennessee man convicted for Jan. 6 riot found guilty of plotting to kill FBI agents who investigated him

A Jan. 6 rioter who breached the U.S. Capitol was convicted of trying to have law enforcement personnel, including the FBI agents and employees who were investigating him, murdered, the Justice Department said Wednesday. Edward Kelley, 35, of Maryville, Tennessee, who was convicted of assaulting law enforcement officers and other crimes during the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, was found guilty on Wednesday of conspiracy to murder employees of the United States, solicitation to commit a crime of violence, and influencing or retaliating against federal officials by threat. The jury agreed on a verdict after an hour of deliberation following the three-day trial, WBIR-TV reported.NIKKI HALEY PENS SUPPORTIVE OP-ED IN FAVOR OF TRUMP AHEAD OF ELECTION DAY: ‘EASY CALL’ Federal prosecutors at his trial in Knoxville, Tennessee, said Kelly developed a “kill list” of FBI agents and others who participated in the investigation into his conduct on Jan. 6 while awaiting trial for his involvement in the Capitol riot. He distributed the list, as well as videos containing images of FBI employees identified on the list, to a co-conspirator as part of his “mission,” authorities said.SUPREME COURT RULES IN FAVOR OF JAN. 6 CAPITOL RIOT PARTICIPANT WHO CHALLENGED OBSTRUCTION CONVICTIONKelley’s co-defendant Austin Carter, who pleaded guilty in November 2023 to conspiracy to kill FBI agents and is awaiting sentencing, testified that Kelly said he needed to “take out” the FBI. He said that he and Kelley planned attacks on the Knoxville FBI Field Office using car bombs and incendiary devices appended to drones. He also testified that the conspirators strategized about assassinating FBI employees in their homes and in public places such as movie theaters.Recording introduced by prosecutors showed Kelley directing the plan, and giving instructions to “start it,” “attack,” and “take out their office” in the event of his arrest. He was also recorded stating: “Every hit has to hurt. Every hit has to hurt,” authorities said. Kelley is scheduled to be sentenced on May 7, 2025. He faces up to life in prison.

Texas doctor who poisoned patients with tainted medical IV bags sentenced to 190 years

Texas doctor who poisoned patients with tainted medical IV bags sentenced to 190 years

A Texas anesthesiologist convicted of injecting heart-stopping poison into patients’ IV bags has been sentenced to 190 years in prison.Raynaldo Riviera Ortiz, Jr., 60, once dubbed a “medical terrorist,” was found guilty on four counts of tampering with consumer products resulting in serious bodily injury, one count of tampering with a consumer product and five counts of intentional adulteration of a drug after an eight-day trial in April of last year.Sentencing was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge David Godbey, who ruled Ortiz’s actions equivalent to attempted murder and U.S. Attorney Leigha Simonton seemingly agreed.”This disgraced doctor acted no better than an armed assailant spraying bullets indiscriminately into a crowd. Dr. Ortiz tampered with random IV bags, apparently unconcerned with who he hurt. But he wielded an invisible weapon, a cocktail of heart-stopping drugs, concealed inside an IV bag designed to help patients heal,” said Simonton.TEXAS DOCTOR FOUND GUILTY OF POISONING PATIENTS BY PUTTING DANGEROUS DRUGS IN IV BAGSSimonton continued: “On at least nine separate occasions, he essentially attacked unconscious patients lying on an operating table, and even killed a colleague. I am so proud of our office’s work in bringing Dr. Ortiz to justice and bringing a measure of solace to his victims and their families.”During the trial, doctors said they were confused when their patients’ blood pressures were suddenly spiking, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Texas. After reviewing medical records, one thing in common with each incident was that these emergencies took place after new IV bags had been hung.Evidence presented in the trial showed that patients at Surgicare North Dallas suffered cardiac emergencies during routine medical procedures in 2022.  The evidence showed that it was not done by any particular doctor.  TEXAS DOCTOR ACCUSED OF POISONING PATIENTS BEGS FOR BAIL, GIVES NEW DETAILS ABOUT DOG SHOOTINGAfter the unexplained emergencies, a fellow anesthesiologist treated herself for dehydration using one of the tainted bags and died that day. Her husband, Dr. John Kaspar, told the court the memory of seeing his wife’s “lifeless eyes” still haunts him and will never leave him. She was “my life” and “the strongest woman” he’d ever met, he said.During the sentencing, families and patients spoke about the “life-altering” pain they had endured at the hands of Ortiz. A son of one victim said that because of what happened, his 10-year-old son did not trust doctors anymore because “a doctor tried to kill Pops.”Another victim said after the cardiac incident he woke up feeling “all chewed up” and has not been the same since.   Ortiz waived his rights and was not present to hear the sentence or the statements from his victims.

Trump team ‘confident’ Senate Republicans will approve cabinet selections

Trump team 'confident' Senate Republicans will approve cabinet selections

President-elect Trump’s team is confident that Senate Republicans will approve his cabinet selection – despite some of the picks raising eyebrows from Republicans and Democrats alike.A Trump transition official confirmed to Fox News that the president-elect is “confident that Senate Republicans will hold the line.””President Trump is confident that Senate Republicans will hold the line and respect the will of the American people by approving his cabinet nominees,” the official said. The official said that Trump is “very happy” with the vice president-elect, saying that Vance is “laser focused on already getting the ball rolling on his highly-qualified nominees.”TRUMP PICKING CABINET AT BREAKNECK SPEED COMPARED TO 2016Trump’s nominees and administration picks during his second administration are being publicly announced at a much faster pace than during his first administration in 2016, which the transition team attributed to Trump’s commitment to putting “America first.””The American people re-elected President Trump by a resounding margin, giving him a mandate to implement the promises he made on the campaign trail, and his Cabinet picks reflect his priority to put America First. President Trump will continue to appoint highly qualified men and women who have the talent, experience and necessary skill sets to Make America Great Again,” Trump-Vance transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt previously told Fox News Digital when asked about Trump’s speedy rollout of Cabinet picks. WATCH:Trump’s most contentious choice so far has been Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., for attorney general. The pick came as a surprise to many since the firebrand does not have any prior law enforcement experience and faces misconduct allegations.Gaetz was under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, which subpoenaed him as recently as September for an ongoing investigation into alleged sexual misconduct with a minor. LOYALTY MATTERS: TRUMP PICKS ALLIES AND SUPPORTERS TO FILL OUT HIS ADMINISTRATIONGaetz has denied any wrongdoing and had told the panel he would “no longer voluntarily participate” in its probe. Gaetz resigned from Congress shortly after Trump made the announcement. On Wednesday, Vance and Gaetz were spotted leaving the Capitol.A source familiar previously told Fox News Digital that Gaetz is “working the phones” to address concerns from GOP senators ahead of his confirmation hearings next year. He is also making the rounds with Vance on Capitol Hill to meet with senators directly. “The meetings have been productive with AG nominee Gaetz listening to senators’ thoughts on the role of the DOJ and the confirmation process. Gaetz is looking forward to meeting with more senators throughout this process on the Hill,” a Trump transition official told Fox News Digital. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Trump transition team for comment.Fox News Digital’s Emma Colton and Andrea Margolis contributed to this report.

GREG GUTFELD: Trump’s triggering foreign leaders like a quarter pounder at a PETA rally

GREG GUTFELD: Trump's triggering foreign leaders like a quarter pounder at a PETA rally

GREG GUTFELD: So, how about that rocket launch yesterday? Elon Musk and President Trump? Watch the Starship take off from a city called Boca Chica, which is Spanish for small mouth. But while the incoming president celebrated the rocket taking off to cheering crowds, the outgoing president took off as well to a different kind of clamor. You know, usually when people scream at Joe like that, they say, ‘Sir, that’s a houseplant, not a toilet.’ But why was he in such a hurry? Maybe he really had to go – literally. And so it’s a tale of two takeoffs. One is a ride to space. Another, a ride to the rest home. But Trump isn’t traveling alone. The world seems to be along for the ride. It’s funny – just a few weeks ago, Trump was a threat to world peace when the only threat we really faced was Joe Biden mistaking our children for dinner. But now foreign leaders are suddenly making nice. Australia’s ambassador to America had previously called Trump the most destructive president in history – but now he’s congratulating him and looking forward to working closely with him. No wonder the Aussies invented the boomerang, up in Canada. Their first trans prime minister, Justin Trudeau, suddenly cracked down on unchecked immigration. He was talking tough there for a while – until somebody showed him this picture. Down in Mexico, lefty President Claudia Sheinbaum wouldn’t even acknowledge Trump’s candidacy on Election Day. Sheinbaum, Mexico has a Jewish president. Maybe she’ll agree to Trump building a Wailing Wall. You know that joke doesn’t deserve you. Then Trump said he would make public the intelligence that America had on Mexican politicians – in bed with cartels. Suddenly, Sheinbaum is cracking down on her own border – but soon Claudia might be welcoming 10 million people who should look familiar. Get ready for an influx of gangs, drug dealers and even worse, washed-up celebs.GET TO KNOW DONALD TRUMP’S CABINET: WHO HAS THE PRESIDENT-ELECT PICKED SO FAR?Trump’s triggering lefty foreign leaders like a quarter-pounder at a PETA rally. But is it all on Trump, as he himself has said? They haven’t been after him. They’ve been after you, and he’s just in the way. And the truth is, it’s you who’s had enough. It just took Trump to make it clear the world gets it. Daddy’s home and it’s time to clean up your mess. And you can’t hide behind a legacy media – which is deader than the battery in Rosie O’Donnell’s back trimmer. But really, the world wants this. The world wants this. They just needed someone to rip the Band-Aid off. It wasn’t going to be Joe or Kamala. Joe lacks the upper body strength, and Kamala doesn’t have enough accents to please the whole world. But everyone knew the planet was screwed. Hell, even the bad guys are now picking up their toys and crawling back under their rocks. Qatar has just confirmed that Hamas leaders are no longer there. For things to operate in the world, someone has to stand up once in a while and say, ‘wrap it up, guys, this is enough.’ That guy is Trump. But he’s got all of us, too. No wonder the world’s scared. It might be the one thing they’ve ever gotten right.

Senate rejects Bernie Sanders’ effort to block weapons sales to Israel

Senate rejects Bernie Sanders' effort to block weapons sales to Israel

An effort by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., to block certain U.S. weapons sales to Israel was overwhelmingly rejected by the U.S. Senate Wednesday evening.Sanders’ joint resolution of disapproval, which was supported by Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.; Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore.; and Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vt., intended to stop the White House’s latest arms sales to the Israeli military. An effort to block the sales of tank rounds to Israel was voted down 79-18, and a measure intending to block mortar round shipments was rejected 78-19.Speaking on the Senate floor, Sanders claimed the Israeli government is controlled “not only by right-wing extremists, but by religious zealots.””It is time to tell the Netanyahu government that they cannot use U.S. taxpayer dollars and American weapons in violation of U.S. and international law and our moral values despite receiving $18 billion from U.S. taxpayers in the last year,” Sanders said. ‘CHEERLEADING FOR TERRORISM’: TWITCH STAR CALLED FOR NEW 9/11, DISMISSED HORROR OF OCT 7″And being the largest historical recipient of U.S. foreign aid, the Netanyahu government has completely ignored the repeated requests of President Biden and the U.S. government.”The 83-year-old politician also decried living conditions in Gaza during his speech.”Right now, there is raw sewage running through the streets of Gaza, and it is very difficult for the people there to obtain clean drinking water,” Sanders said. “Every one of Gaza’s 12 universities has been bombed … as have many hundreds of schools. For 13 months, there has been no electricity in Gaza.ISRAELI OFFICIAL PRAISES STEFANIK AS UN PICK, SAYS HER ‘MORAL CLARITY’ WILL COMBAT BODY’S ‘HATE AND LIES'”As I have said many, many times, Israel had the absolute right to respond to that horrific Hamas attack as any other country would,” Sanders concluded. “I don’t think anybody here in the United States Senate disagrees with that. But Prime Minister Netanyahu’s extremist government has not simply waged war against Hamas. It has waged an all-out war against the Palestinian people.”Despite the vote, Sanders’ effort was not wholly unpopular. Earlier this week, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., signaled support for the Vermont Independent’s proposal.”The failure by the Biden administration to follow U.S. law and to suspend arms shipments is a grave mistake that undermines American credibility worldwide,” Warren said in a statement to The Guardian.”If this administration will not act, Congress must step up to enforce U.S. law and hold the Netanyahu government accountable through a joint resolution of disapproval.”Fox News Digital’s Jessica Sonkin and Alec Schemmel contributed to this report.

President-elect Trump chose former ambassador and Rep. Pete Hoekstra for his pick for the U.S. ambassador to Canada.”Pete is well-respected in the Great State of Michigan – A State we won sizably. He represented Michigan’s 2nd District in Congress for nearly 20 years, where he was also Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, and was a great help to our Campaign as Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party,” Trump wrote in a Wednesday evening release.Trump said that Hoekstra would help the president-elect’s “American First” agenda.”In my Second Term, Pete will help me once again put AMERICA FIRST,” he wrote. “He did an outstanding job as United States Ambassador to the Netherlands during our first four years, and I am confident that he will continue to represent our Country well in this new role. Thank you, Pete!”GET TO KNOW DONALD TRUMP’S CABINET: WHO HAS THE PRESIDENT-ELECT PICKED SO FAR?Hoekstra was the U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands during Trump’s first term. Prior to his ambassadorship, he served 18 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the 2nd District of Michigan, and served as chairman and ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee. Trump’s pick of Hoekstra on Wednesday came after he tapped former Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker to become U.S. ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in his new administration.

Republican leaders urge college conference to ban transgender athletes amid San Jose State controversy

Republican leaders urge college conference to ban transgender athletes amid San Jose State controversy

Republican leaders from Congress expressed “serious concern” with the Mountain West Conference about transgender women participating in women’s sports.Thirteen officials signed a letter to Mountain West Commissioner Gloria Nevarez, urging the conference to prohibit transgender athletes from playing against biological women.”We write with serious concerns about the safety and fair competition standards for female athletes participating in the Mountain West Conference,” the letter, signed by members of the U.S. House and U.S. Senate, says. The letter was sent amid controversy at San Jose State University, where Blaire Fleming, a transgender woman, plays for the women’s volleyball team.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMSeveral teams have forfeited games against the Spartans this season.”Title IX was established over 50 years ago to even the playing field for women. Since its implementation, women have participated in safer and fairer competition — but recent events have shown this is at risk,” the letter states. “Recently, members of your conference have forfeited games, risking their competitive standings to ensure the safety of their female athletes. The Mountain West Conference’s failure to prohibit biological males from competing in women’s sports is unfair to the women and girls who have worked tirelessly to compete at the collegiate level. We applaud the bravery of these female athletes and the universities in our home states for taking a stand to preserve Title IX when the Mountain West Conference would not.”Permitting biological men to play in women’s sports is not equitable; it is an injustice. Under these guidelines, it is only fair that biological males play men’s sports and biological females play women’s sports. Clearly, the Mountain West Conference has dropped the ball.”Life isn’t fair, but sports should be. We urge you to address these inequities in women’s sports in the Mountain West Conference immediately, and we look forward to working with you to support women in collegiate sports.”Fleming has been one of the top players in the conference and an offensive anchor for San Jose State this season, even amid the controversy. Fleming is third in the conference in average kills per serve with 3.86 and amassed 297 total kills on the year despite playing seven fewer games than expected due to forfeits. It’s helped give San Jose State the third best hitting percentage in the Mountain West. Fleming’s teammate, Brooke Slusser, is a part of the lawsuit against the NCAA, and she filed another suit alongside other Mountain West players against the conference over the alleged presence of her transgender teammate. Slusser has alleged the school deliberately hid Fleming’s natural birth sex from her and other players on the team and around the conference. San Jose State has repeatedly defended the presence of Fleming on the team. “Our athletes all comply with NCAA and Mountain West Conference policies and are eligible to play under the rules of those organizations. Our volleyball team members have earned the right to compete, and we are deeply disappointed for them and with them that they are being denied those opportunities through cancellations and forfeits. We are also proud of how they have persevered through these challenges on the court,” a statement provided to Fox News Digital by a university spokesperson said.Fox News’ Jackson Thompson contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

ICE arrests 3 illegal immigrants in Mass.: 2 charged with child rape, 1 convicted of same crime in Brazil

ICE arrests 3 illegal immigrants in Mass.: 2 charged with child rape, 1 convicted of same crime in Brazil

U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Boston announced on Wednesday the arrests of two illegal immigrants who have been charged with forcibly raping children in Massachusetts, as well as a third individual who was convicted of raping a child in Brazil, and was hiding in the U.S. after being caught and released at the U.S. border in 2022.The arrests come after Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey said her state would not cooperate with President-elect Trump’s federal immigration enforcement efforts once he returns to the Oval Office in January.ICE said one of the suspects, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was arrested for forcible rape of a child, but was released in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, by authorities, who ignored a detainer request made by the federal agency to hold or transfer him to federal custody. The suspect, 21-year-old Mynor Stiven De Paz-Munoz, entered the U.S. on Sept. 24, 2020, near Eagle Pass, Texas, and was released by U.S. Border Patrol with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice (DOJ) Executive Office of Immigration Review Judge.DEM GOVERNOR THREATENS TO USE ‘EVERY TOOL’ TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST TRUMP-ERA DEPORTATIONSHe was later arrested in western Massachusetts by Great Barrington police on Feb. 29, 2024, for rape of a child by force, rape of a child, and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older.Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston lodged a detainer with the police department, but it was ignored, and De Paz-Munoz was released on bail before ERO Boston officers could take him into custody. He has since been charged by the Berkshire County Superior Court with the crimes, which are still pending, and he remains in custody.ICE NABS ANOTHER ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT IN MASS. CHARGED WITH SEX CRIME, AS GOV SNUBS TRUMP DEPORTATIONS”Mynor Stiven De Paz-Munoz stands accused of horrifically victimizing a Massachusetts child and represents a significant threat to our neighborhoods,” acting ERO Boston Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde said. “We owe it to the children of our New England communities to prioritize public safety above everything else.”The second suspect, 42-year-old Billy Erney Buitrago-Bustos of Colombia, was arrested by Great Barrington police on Oct. 8, 2023, for allegedly raping a child by force, statutory rape and aggravated rape.Buitrago-Gusto was admitted into the U.S. on May 4, 2016, at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, though he failed to leave under the terms of his visa.WEALTHY, LIBERAL NANTUCKET, MARTHA’S VINEYARD SEES 6 ICE ARRESTS IN ONE MONTHAfter his arrest in October 2023, ERO Boston lodged an immigration arrest with the Great Barrington Police Department. Later that month, Buitrago-Gusto was arraigned in the Southern Berkshire District Court and held without bail. The charges were elevated to the Berkshire County Superior Court on March 18, which honored the immigration detainer and released him into custody of ERO Boston on Nov. 15, after he posted bail.”Billy Erney Buitrago-Bustos stands accused of the most heinous and reprehensible of crimes,” Hyde said. “We thank our law enforcement partners at the Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction for prioritizing public safety and protecting children in the communities they were appointed to serve.”The third suspect, 41-year-old Alexandre Romao De Oliveira, is a foreign fugitive convicted of raping a child in Brazil.‘LIBERATION DAY’: WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PRESIDENT-ELECT TRUMP ON BORDER SECURITY, IMMIGRATIONHe was convicted in the First Criminal Court of Jaru, Rondônia, Brazil, on Feb. 10, 2022, and sentenced to serve 14 years behind bars. But according to ICE, Romao De Oliveira fled Brazil before he could serve his sentence. On April 16, 2022, Romao De Oliveira entered the U.S. near Santa Teresa, New Mexico, without admission by an immigration official, and was released from custody after being served a notice to appear before a DOJ immigration review judge.ICE Boston arrested Romao De Oliveira on Monday in the northern Massachusetts city of Methuen.”Alexandre Romao De Oliveira is a convicted child rapist who fled his home country to evade justice,” Hyde said. “Enhancing public safety starts with cooperation between law enforcement partners. Bringing this fugitive to justice is a direct result of the collaboration between ERO Boston, the ICE attaché offices around the globe, and our foreign law enforcement counterparts.”

Yankees’ Hal Steinbrenner understands pressure from fans to land Juan Soto: ‘I’ve got ears’

Yankees' Hal Steinbrenner understands pressure from fans to land Juan Soto: 'I've got ears'

The Juan Soto sweepstakes is the latest free agency battle the New York Yankees are trying to win, and owner Hal Steinbrenner discussed how his meeting with the left-handed slugger and his super agent, Scott Boras, went. Or at least what he was allowed to say about the meeting. “A very honest, back-and-forth dialogue” took place, lasting a “couple hours,” according to the New York Post. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMIt’s not that Soto truly needs to be sold on playing for the Yankees. He spent the entire 2024 season with them and ended up in the World Series, in large part due to his success in the Bronx. But Steinbrenner did ask, without divulging details, what the Yankees’ player development system looks like as it plays a large role in how teams perform now and into the future. Soto is looking for a long-term home and wants to be sure his next team is competitive. Steinbrenner was asked multiple times what he believes Soto’s wishes are, and the Yankees owner responded with “No idea.” SHOHEI OHTANI, FRANCISCO LINDOR, AARON JUDGE AMONG 2024 MLB AWARDS FINALISTS”We’ll be in the mix,” Steinbrenner added.  “All I know is he’s earned this, and he’s going to go through the process.”Yankees fans await Soto’s free agency decision with bated breath, hoping their 2024 All-Star will be crushing homers for their team for a decade or more to come. But there are contenders elsewhere, including the New York Mets, who have MLB’s most wealthy owner, Steve Cohen. The Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and the World Series-winning Los Angeles Dodgers are also potential suitors. The talent Soto possesses at 26 years old is more than enough for many to believe he will receive the biggest contract in the sport’s history. Yankees fans have implored the franchise to spend whatever it takes to keep Soto at Yankee Stadium. And Steinbrenner hears the pleas and chants inside the stadium. “I’ve got ears,” he said. “I know what’s expected of me. It’s been a priority. Wouldn’t have gone out to the West Coast if it wasn’t.”We listen to our fans. Our fans really enjoyed having him in New York. He’s definitely a significant part of why we got to the World Series.”Soto slashed .285/.421/.532 with 201 homers over his first seven years in the league. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

California school official compared ‘Save Girls Sports’ shirt to swastika, rebuked girls wearing it: lawsuit

California school official compared 'Save Girls Sports' shirt to swastika, rebuked girls wearing it: lawsuit

EXCLUSIVE: Two high school cross-country runners and their families are suing a California school district, alleging their “Save Girls Sports” T-shirts were likened to a swastika.Plaintiffs Kaitlyn and Taylor, two athletes at Martin Luther King High School in ninth and eleventh grade, respectively, wore T-shirts bearing the messages “Save Girls’ Sports” and “It’s Common Sense. XX ≠ XY.” The girls wore the shirts after a transgender athlete, who didn’t consistently attend practices or meet key varsity eligibility requirements, was placed on the varsity team, displacing Taylor from her spot, the complaint alleged.”My initial reaction was like, I was really surprised, because it was like, why is this happening to me?” Taylor told Fox News Digital. “There’s a transgender student on the team. Why am I getting displaced when I worked so hard and gone to all of the practices, and this student has only attended a few of the practices.”CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMAthletic department school officials allegedly forced the students to remove or conceal the shirts, claiming they created a “hostile” environment and comparing wearing these shirts to wearing a swastika in front of Jewish students.”It was definitely hard to hear because we’re by no means trying to be hateful,” Kaitlyn told Fox News Digital. “We’re just wearing a shirt that expresses what we believe in trying to raise awareness to a situation.”The transgender athlete, however, has been allegedly allowed to wear “trans pride” bracelets, and the school allows other forms of social messaging around campus, including a LGBTQ pride flag, the complaint noted.”The biological male transgender athlete who displaced T.S. on the girls’ varsity team had recently transferred from another local high school after breaking that school’s all-time cross-country record for the girls’ cross-country team,” the complaint said.TRANSGENDER WOMEN TO BE BANNED FROM CAPITOL HILL FEMALE BATHROOMS UNDER NEW HOUSE GOP PROPOSAL”T.S., who had held a position on the girls’ Varsity Top 7 since August 2024 was removed from the girls’ Varsity Top 7 to make room on the girls’ Varsity Top 7 for an eleventh-grade transgender student and T.S. was relegated to the junior varsity team for one of the most important meets of the season for college recruitment,” the complaint said.According to the girls’ Advocates for Faith and Freedom attorney, Julianne Fleischer, the lawsuit claims there were violations of their First and Fourteenth Amendment rights and their Title IX protections. In October, according to the complaint, the district’s Title IX coordinator, Bethany Scott, informed Taylor’s mother of a formal investigation into her complaint. Scott also conveyed that Taylor would not be disadvantaged by running on the junior varsity team at a key upcoming cross-country meet, but her mother argued it would harm her chances of being noticed by college scouts. By Nov. 1, after follow-ups, the district reclassified the Title IX complaint as a confidential personnel matter, claiming it did not meet the criteria for sex-based discrimination.JOHNSON DECLINES TO SAY IF TRANSGENDER REP-ELECT IS MAN OR WOMAN, SAYS HOUSE TO TREAT EVERYONE WITH ‘RESPECT’Typically, multiple factors, beyond race times, are considered for varsity selection on the cross-country team They complaint alleges that Taylor’s dedication and hard work were overlooked, and the school district failed to provide a clear explanation, forming the basis of the Title IX complaint, Fleisher said.”We’re seeing more and more women and young girls speak up and challenge these policies that are allowing biological boys to join and participate in these sports,” Fleischer told Fox News Digital. “And so there’s lawsuits that are popping up all around the country. We’re hopeful that even with the incoming administration and Congress that we’re going to see real positive change to Title IX that actually upholds and safeguards the rights of women to participate in their sports and to be safe and to be able to compete amongst one another.”Under the Biden-Harris administration, Title IX was amended to include discrimination against gender identity and sexual orientation. The Supreme Court ruled against one of Biden’s requests in August that would have permitted biological men in women’s bathrooms, locker rooms and dorms in 10 states where there are state-level and local-level rules in place to prevent it. On the campaign trail, President-elect Donald Trump said he would roll back Biden-Harris policies on gender treatments for minors and protect women in sports.Fox News Digital has reached out to the Riverside Unified School District and Martin Luther King High School for comment.

Jon Stewart skewers ‘Morning Joe’ co-hosts for Trump meeting: ‘You said he was Hitler’

Jon Stewart skewers 'Morning Joe' co-hosts for Trump meeting: 'You said he was Hitler'

“The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart called out MSNBC co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough for their meeting with President-elect Donald Trump on Monday night, noting their past comparisons of him to dictators.Stewart specifically blasted the MSNBC co-hosts for defending the meeting with Trump as if it was a natural choice for them, reminding viewers that they’ve been calling the soon-to-be president a grave threat to the country for nearly a decade. In response to a clip of Brzezinski asking her critics, “why wouldn’t we” speak to Trump, the Comedy Central host replied, “Uh, because you said he was Hitler.”The married MSNBC personalities met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence last week to “restart communications” between both parties. During Monday’s episode of “Morning Joe,” they relayed that Trump was cheerful during the meeting and appeared interested in finding common ground with Democrats on major issues.CNN, MSNBC COULD RETURN TO RESISTANCE TV AFTER BEING RELIABLE ANTI-TRUMP NETWORKS DURING FIRST TERMScarborough told his viewers that they went over topics like abortion, mass deportation, and threats of retribution against political opponents and media outlets.Stewart then mocked Scarborough, saying, “Oh, I bet you really laid down the gauntlet, Joe. I bet you walked in there and let him have it, didn’t you, Joey?”Doing an impression of them speaking to Trump, he continued, “’Mr. President, your rhetoric is outrageous. I cannot in good conscience – Ooh, are those macaroons?””We’ve learned nothing!” Stewart shouted, returning to his own commentary. “Even those putting up resistance to Trump’s agenda don’t seem to understand who they’re dealing with.”Elsewhere in the segment, Stewart blasted the Democratic Party’s efforts in resisting the president-elect.JEN PSAKI SAYS DEMOCRATS ARE LOST IN THE ‘WILDERNESS’ WITHOUT A CLEAR LEADER AFTER TRUMP’S VICTORY”The Republicans are playing chess and the Democrats are in the nurse’s office because they glued their balls to their thigh. That is what is happening!” he said.Other liberals have torn into Brzezinski and Scarborough for their meeting with Trump. Rosie O’Donnell posted to TikTok on Monday, “It’s the last time I ever watch ‘Morning Joe.’ Period. End of statement.”The comedian added that their actions were “despicable” considering how much they’ve criticized him. “For months you were telling us he’s the worst thing that could happen to this country and democracy. And then you go kiss his ring? Despicable.””BREAKING NEWS: I TOLD YOU SO,” former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann wrote on X, calling the pair “Trump collaborators.””Normalizing Trump is a bad idea,” MSNBC host Katie Phang also wrote on X, in a clear reference to her network colleagues. “Period.”Fox News Digital’s David Rutz contributed to this report.
