US Olympic track star Kendall Ellis says she was scratched 4 minutes before 4x400M relay, left 'blindsided'

American sprinter Kendall Ellis said she was “blindsided” when she was removed from the 4×400-meter relay at the Paris Olympics on Saturday night.Ellis was the reigning U.S. 400-meter champion. But she was not a part of the team that blew out its opponents on the track. Instead, Shamier Little, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas and Alexis Holmes dominated on their road to a gold medal.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMEllis told ESPN she had four minutes to spare before she was told she was a no go for the medal race.”I feel very proud of the team that was put out there. I think they ran incredible,” she said. “I also feel disappointed and lied to and embarrassed. I feel like I was blindsided because I was told one thing this morning and, for hours, thought I was running in the final. It seems everyone know besides me.”Ellis said she woke up to a text message from Mechelle Freeman, saying that she wouldn’t be in the 4×400-meter relay. Ellis said she wanted to make her point in person and when she did, she said Freeman told her to prepare as if she will be competing in the relay after all.STEPH CURRY ELECTRIFIES TEAM USA IN 4TH QUARTER ON WAY TO GOLD MEDAL WIN AT PARIS OLYMPICSBut before the race, Ellis said another U.S. coach came up to her and said she was sorry that she wasn’t competing. Ellis told her personal coach Quincy Watts about what she heard. Watts then talked to Freeman about the decision and Ellis overheard that she wasn’t going to be in the race.”That was four minutes before the race,” Ellis told ESPN.”We had a good conversation [this morning], a good meeting. I’m an incredible relay runner. It was disappointing to not be on the relay, but I’m angry about the way it was done. I don’t feel supported or valued as a member of the team or as a 400-meter runner, and I don’t feel respected.”Ellis said she’s unsure what she’ll do now that that Olympics are over with.USATF didn’t immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.Elllis won gold in the 4×400-meter relay and a bronze medal in the mixed 4×400-meter relay in Tokyo in 2021.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Gov. Abbott issues executive order requiring Texas hospitals to gather data on immigration statuses

Gov. Abbott issues executive order requiring Texas hospitals to gather data on immigration statuses

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, issued an executive order mandating that public hospitals in the state gather data on patients’ immigration statuses to report to the state government.Order GA 46, issued on Thursday, directs the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to collect information on illegal immigrants who use public hospitals for inpatient and emergency care and report the healthcare costs, so the state can track how much money was spent on illegal immigrants’ medical treatment and send the bill to the Biden administration, which the governor blames for the influx of illegal migrants entering the U.S. through the Southern Border.”Due to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ open border policies, Texas has had to foot the bill for medical costs for individuals illegally in the state,” Abbott said in a statement. “Texas should not have to shoulder the burden of financially supporting medical care for illegal immigrants.””That is why I issued an Executive Order requiring the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to collect and report healthcare costs for illegal immigrants in our state,” he continued. “Texas will hold the Biden-Harris Administration accountable for the consequences of their open border policies, and we will fight to ensure that they pay back Texas for their costly and dangerous policies.”GOP STATES SUE TO STOP BIDEN ADMIN EXTENDING OBAMACARE TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTSThe new rule takes effect November 1.The hospitals must report the data quarterly, with the first submissions due on March 1. Beginning on January 1, 2026, annual reports must be provided to the governor, lieutenant governor, and the state’s Speaker of the House on the previous year’s costs for medical care provided to illegal immigrants. The order also states that hospitals are required to inform patients that federal law mandates that their responses to questions about immigration status will not affect medical care. The League of United Latin American Citizens, or LULAC, is criticizing the executive order as “political rhetoric.””It’s pretty vague. It’s like ‘Hey, let’s just get the data.’ Well, what are you doing to do with the data?,” Gabriel Rosales, the state director for LULAC in Texas, told Fox 26.DENVER POLICE OFFICERS FIRED OVER DISTURBING TEXT MESSAGES ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS: ‘TARGET PRACTICE’LULAC emphasized that the executive order could keep some immigrants from seeking the medical care they require.”It just creates a lot of fear that’s unnecessary,” Rosales said. “They need to create a pathway to citizenship.”This comes as politicians in Texas and elsewhere are calling on the Biden administration to do more to address the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.”Undocumented immigrants contribute $26.2 billion to this country, nationally,” Sergio Lira, the president of Greater Houston LULAC, told Fox 26. “2.6 billion dollars to the state and local taxes.”Lira also said the federal government “subsidizes and supplements a lot of the medical costs, locally, statewide.”

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell has lighthearted exchange with mic’d-up Justin Jefferson during preseason game

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell has lighthearted exchange with mic'd-up Justin Jefferson during preseason game

The atmosphere of NFL preseason games tends to be more relaxed than what star players and coaches typically experience over the course of the regular season. But, a player being mic’d during a game has become a relatively normal occurrence in the league. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connnell quickly picked up on the fact that Justin Jefferson was wearing a microphone during Minnesota’s preseason opener.O’Connell ended up having a lighthearted and hilarious exchange with the superstar wide receiver on the sideline as the Vikings took on the Las Vegas Raiders.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM”The real question is, why — I see Justin, he never stands by himself,” O’Connell said. “He’s the energy, the igniter. Why in the world is he standing off by himself talking to himself? Now I know.”O’Connell was responding to Jefferson’s request to say a few words to the viewers watching the game’s broadcast. The three-time Pro Bowler was featured in the game’s broadcast for the entirety of the third quarter. Jefferson’s appearance served as another reminder that the Vikings were participating in an exhibition game and not a regular season contest. At one point, Jefferson even successfully predicted that a play would result in a touchdown. “Got em, got em, got em, got em,” Jefferson said as rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy threw a pass to Trent Sherfield Sr.THE ‘BUZZ’ ABOUT JAYDEN DANIELS KEEPS BUILDING AFTER IMPRESSIVE PRESEASON DEBUTJefferson, who signed a historic contract extension in June, did not play in Saturday’s preseason game.McCarthy rebounded from an ill-advised throw intercepted by Las Vegas starting cornerback Jack Jones with two touchdown passes against backups, a mixed but promising preseason debut for the Vikings’ future franchise quarterback in a 24-23 victory over the Raiders.Rookie Will Reichard kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to stop Minnesota’s 10-game preseason losing streak. The Vikings last won an exhibition on Aug. 24, 2019, at home against the Arizona Cardinals.”Things are going to go bad, and it’s your ability to respond and navigate those waters when it does happen, just being able to have that goldfish memory to just go back out there and have that sling-it mentality,” McCarthy said. The Associated Press contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

King Charles lauds ‘resilience’ over ‘aggression’ in riots after criticism he didn’t condemn UK unrest sooner

King Charles lauds ‘resilience’ over ‘aggression’ in riots after criticism he didn't condemn UK unrest sooner

King Charles III on Friday lauded the “resilience” of many that overshadowed the “aggression” and “criminality” of a smaller number of people amid some of the worst unrest in the United Kingdom’s history, Buckingham Palace said. The king has been criticized for not speaking out sooner against the riots that began after three young girls were killed in a stabbing attack on July 29, in a town near Liverpool and misinformation spread on social media following the murders and an arrest. The king and the royal family are currently in Scotland for their annual summer holiday. “The king shared how he had been greatly encouraged by the many examples of community spirit that had countered the aggression and criminality from a few with the compassion and resilience of the many,” the palace said in a statement. “It remains his majesty’s hope that shared values of mutual respect and understanding will continue to strengthen and unite the nation.”UK GOVERNMENT WARNS ‘THINK BEFORE YOU POST’ AMID THREATS TO ARREST CITIZENS FOR OFFENSIVE RHETORIC ON SOCIALS Charles also gave his “heartfelt thanks to the police and emergency services for all they are doing to restore peace in those areas that have been affected by violent disorder,” the palace added, according to BBC News.British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday said that a “standing army” of specialist police would be set up to deal with rioting and that the justice system would be ramped up to deal with hundreds of arrests after violent disorder rocked cities across the nation over the past week.”Whatever the apparent motivation, this is not protest, it is pure violence, and we will not tolerate attacks on mosques or our Muslim communities,” Starmer said on Monday. “The full force of law will be visited on all those who are identified as having taken part.”Riots and protests involving hundreds of people have created chaos in towns and cities across the country, with dozens of police officers hospitalized after being struck with bricks, bottles, chairs and large wooden posts.False social media posts claimed that the suspected attacker was a radical Islamist who had recently arrived in Britain. Police, however, identified the attacker as 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, who was born in Wales to Rwandan parents, and said authorities are not treating the incident as terror-related.BRITAIN REMAINS ON ALERT FOR FURTHER UNREST, EVEN AFTER ANTI-RACISM CAMPAIGNERS FACE DOWN FAR-RIGHTEarlier this week, Kate Williams, a professor of public engagement with history at Reading University told Times Radio: “This would be a moment for the King to talk about multiculturalism, the Commonwealth, people coming together, and I think that if I were advising him I would suggest making that statement sooner [rather] than later.”She added, “We are in crisis times… this is an outbreak of violence that’s getting worse, it’s not abating. And we are seeing that people are terrified. There are cities tonight that are going to be gripped by this racist violence, by this anti-Islamic violence. It’s just terrible, and I think this is the moment where the monarchy does need to come out and say something.”The king previously released a message on social media saying he and Queen Camilla were “profoundly shocked” over the murders.”We send our most heartfelt condolences, prayers and deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those you have so tragically lost their lives and to all those affected by this truly appalling attack.”Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, who were all between 6 and 9 years old, were murdered in the attack while attending a dance class in Southport, 17 miles north of Liverpool. Ten others were seriously injured. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPThe National Police Chiefs’ Council said some 741 people have been arrested in connection with the violence, including 304 who have been charged with criminal offenses.Fox News’ Stephen Sorace, the Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.

Carl Lewis pushes for drastic changes after US men’s disastrous 4×100 relay: ‘Time to blow up the system’

Carl Lewis pushes for drastic changes after US men's disastrous 4x100 relay: 'Time to blow up the system'

American track star Noah Lyles missed the 4×100-meter relay due to COVID-19. While Team USA may have benefited from Lyles’ presence on the track for the relay event, a mishap ultimately ended the American men’s hopes of capturing gold in Paris Friday. The U.S. men’s track and field team extended its medal drought in the men’s event to 20 years after a botched handoff in the first leg of the race led to a disqualification for the Americans. The team of Christian Coleman, Kenneth Bednarek, Kyree King and Fred Kerley finished the race in seventh place but was later disqualified after it was found Coleman handed off the baton to two-time silver medalist Bednarek outside the exchange zone.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMLegendary track and field athlete and nine-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis has been in Paris to watch the 2024 Summer Games. He described Team USA’s performance on Friday as a “total embarrassment,” while also calling for some serious changes to U.S. track and field.”It is time to blow up the system,” Lewis posted on X, formerly Twitter. “This continues to be completely unacceptable. It is clear that EVERYONE at [USA Track & Field] is more concerned with relationships than winning. No athlete should step on the track and run another relay until this program is changed from top to bottom.”TEAM USA WINS GOLD IN MEN’S 4X400-METER RELAY AT PARIS OLYMPICSCanada claimed the gold medal after finishing the race in 37.50 seconds, while South Africa earned silver. Great Britain won the bronze. All of Team USA, except for Bednarek, spoke to reporters after the race. Coleman attributed the error to the team being caught up in the heat of the moment.”We practiced a lot,” Coleman said. “Me and Kenny have been competitors but also teammates a few times. We felt really confident going out there. In the heat of the moment, it just didn’t happen.”After being pressed to pinpoint what exactly caused the mishap, Coleman said, “I’m not sure if you want me to point fingers or something like that. As a team, as a unit, we didn’t get it done today.”Coleman’s teammate, Kerley, seemed to take issue with the line of questioning and eventually interjected, “Y’all say the same s— over and over.”The 2024 Summer Games are not the first at which the U.S. men’s team has had baton passing issues. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the Americans appeared to be on track to secure a spot in the 4×100 final until a mix-up led to the baton tumbling to the track as rain fell from the sky.The Americans finished in second during the 2012 Games in London but were later stripped of the silver due to a doping case.Although three Americans are among the top 11 100-meter sprinters in the world this year, the U.S. still could not manage to claim one of the three spots on the Olympic podium in Paris following the 4×100-meter relay. However, the women provided a bright spot for the Americans as Sha’Carri Richardson anchored the 4×100-meter relay and helped lift Team USA to gold. The U.S. women have now earned 12 gold medals in the event.Fox News’ Paulina Dedaj contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

How to reclaim your phone and block unwelcome political text messages

How to reclaim your phone and block unwelcome political text messages

Text messages that come to your phone as spam messages are a nuisance at best and a risk to your personal security at worst. But somewhere in between lies a unique type of spam text message that includes propaganda to convince you of whom to vote for in the upcoming election. Of course, this is a nuisance, but is it also something more than that? Something more dangerous that you need to be aware of?If you’re receiving those unwelcome political text messages from fundraisers, here’s what you need to know about them and how you can reclaim your phone and block those messages for good. With the upcoming election, you should be free to vote without any influence from strangers texting your phone. How did they get your number, anyway?SIGN UP FOR FOR KURT’S FREE NEWSLETTER AND GET INSTANT ACCESS TO THE CYBERGUY REPORTPolitical text messages are communications sent via SMS by political campaigns, party committees, political action committees (PACs) and interest groups. These messages aim to solicit support, funds, votes, gauge public opinion through surveys and provide information about political events and initiatives.Due to their high open rates and direct reach, they have become a popular tool in modern campaigning. However, there is a risk that such messages can backfire because recipients may find them intrusive and choose to support a different candidate instead. As election season approaches, it’s important to be vigilant about the political text messages you receive. While some may be genuine communications from campaigns or organizations, others could be scams designed to deceive you. Here are some tips to help you determine the legitimacy of these messages:Check for grammatical errors: Fake messages often contain poor grammar, spelling mistakes or awkward sentence structures. Legitimate organizations typically ensure their communications are free from such errors.Verify the source: If you receive a message claiming to be from a known political campaign or organization, verify it by contacting it directly using a phone number or website you trust, not the information provided in the message.Look for unfamiliar numbers: Legitimate political campaigns usually send texts from identified numbers. Scam texts often come from unidentified or unusually long numbers.Understand brand communication: Familiarize yourself with how political campaigns say they will contact you. Many organizations provide guidelines on their websites about what legitimate communications will look like.THE 3 MOST DANGEROUS TECH THREATS TO THE 2024 ELECTIONSPolitical organizations often obtain phone numbers from voter registration records, which include names, addresses and contact information of registered voters. These records are public and can be accessed by anyone involved in political communications.Additionally, political groups may purchase phone numbers from data brokers who compile extensive profiles using various data points, including online activity, subscriptions and demographic information. Essentially, even if you haven’t directly given these campaigners your phone number, they’ve found it online some other way.HOW TO REMOVE YOUR PRIVATE DATA FROM THE INTERNET While the messages themselves typically do not extract personal information directly, responding to or engaging with these texts can contribute to the data profiles that political organizations maintain. Each interaction provides additional data points that can be used to refine outreach strategies. However, be cautious of links within these messages because they could potentially lead to phishing attempts if not from a legitimate source. Here’s the thing. You’d think the Do Not Call Registry would help, but, sadly, it doesn’t cover political stuff. And those federal laws about phone communications? They’re not much help either. Why? Well, it’s kind of a sticky situation. See, lawmakers are worried about stepping on First Amendment toes. Plus — let’s be honest — they need to reach voters themselves. So, they’re not exactly rushing to put up barriers. Now, there is one rule. Political groups can’t use auto dialers to spam you with texts unless you’ve said it’s OK. But here’s the catch. The Supreme Court defined auto dialers in a way that lets a lot of texting tech off the hook. So, what does this mean for you? Well, if you’ve ever liked a political meme, taken an online survey about democracy or donated to a cause, you might’ve put yourself on their radar. It’s like open season for political texters.HOW AI COULD MANIPULATE VOTERS AND UNDERMINE ELECTIONS, THREATENING DEMOCRACY If you regularly receive calls and messages from the same number, you can block it to prevent those calls and texts from reaching you. This is effective if the messages come from the same number but may be less effective if the sender uses multiple numbers. On iPhoneOn AndroidSettings may vary depending on your Android phone’s manufacturer Responding to the text with “Stop,” “Unsubscribe” or “Cancel” can opt you out of future communications from that sender. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) also provides options to report unsolicited texts by forwarding them to 7726 (“SPAM”) or filing a complaint online. On both iPhone and Android, you can delete and report unwanted messages as junk. Here’s how:On iPhone:Android:Settings may vary depending on your Android phone’s manufacturer Both iPhone and Android have features to filter messages from unknown senders, reducing interruptions from unwanted texts. On iPhone:On Android:Settings may vary depending on your Android phone’s manufacturer As a last resort, you can contact the campaign’s office to report the message. This could help prevent future communications and bring the issue to the campaign’s attention, especially if they are not following best practices. To further reduce the number of unwanted political text messages, consider investing in personal data removal services. While no service promises to remove all your data from the internet, having a removal service is great if you want to constantly monitor and automate the process of removing your information from hundreds of sites continuously over a longer period of time. Check out my top picks for data removal services here. Be cautious of links, and do not click links in political texts because they may contain malware or lead to fraudulent websites. Also, be aware that some political texts may be fake, designed to mislead or defraud you. Scammers often disguise themselves as legitimate political campaigns, nonprofits or government agencies to exploit the election season’s heightened communication. These fake texts may attempt to extract personal information or solicit fraudulent donations by creating a sense of urgency or panic. The best way to safeguard yourself from malicious links that install malware and potentially access your private information is to have strong antivirus software installed on all your devices. This protection can also alert you to phishing emails and ransomware scams, keeping your personal information and digital assets safe. Get my picks for the best 2024 antivirus protection winners for your Windows, Mac, Android & iOS devices.THE “DO NOT CALL” LIST LOOPHOLE: WHY YOUR PHONE STILL WON’T STOP RINGING Political text messages may be a nuisance, but they can also pose risks to your privacy and influence your voting decisions. As the election approaches, it’s essential to take control of your phone and block these unwanted messages. Remember, your vote is your voice. Don’t let it be drowned out by unsolicited texts. By understanding how to manage these communications, you can focus on making informed choices this election season, free from outside influence.Have you ever received a political text message? VP snub Gov. Josh Shapiro touts $1.1 billion increase in his state’s public school funding

VP snub Gov. Josh Shapiro touts $1.1 billion increase in his state’s public school funding

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, visited Amanda E. Stout Elementary in the city of Reading on Friday to highlight the $1.1 billion in additional public education funding included in the commonwealth’s new budget. This comes just days after Shapiro was shunned as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate for November’s presidential election as she prepares to face former President Donald Trump. Harris instead selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to join the Democratic ticket.Shapiro and Pennsylvania Education Secretary Dr. Khalid N. Mumin met with students, teachers and legislators at the elementary school to celebrate the record funding for public K-12 education allocated through the 2024-25 budget. The $1.1 billion in total increases for K-12 public education funding represents the largest year-over-year boost in Pennsylvania’s history, according to the governor’s office.HARRIS SNUBBING SHAPIRO MAKES LIBERAL JEWS IN HOLLYWOOD FEEL ‘NOT WELCOME’ AMONG DEMOCRATS: REPORT”In the bipartisan budget I signed into law last month, Pennsylvania will invest $11 billion in K-12 public education for our students and teachers — that’s $1.1 billion more than last year, a record amount,” Shapiro said in a statement. “We came together to make the largest investment in K-12 public education in the Commonwealth’s history — because there is nothing more important than investing in our kids and their future — all while building on the progress we’ve made on student teacher stipends, mental health resources, and environmental school repairs.”The governor was joined for a ceremonial bill signing by Reading School District Superintendent Jennifer Murray, Reading Education Association President Brian Benkert, Reading School District 11th grader Jose Martinez and local and state legislators.”And we’re not only delivering more funding, but also fixing how we drive out that money to our schools under a new formula that directs funding to the districts who need it most – the districts that have been chronically underfunded,” the governor said. The Reading School District, which Amanda E. Stout Elementary School is part of, will receive about $40 million more than last year as part of the new budget. In April, the district received a more than $325,000 grant for mental health support from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.Of the $1.1 billion in education funding increases, nearly $526 million will be distributed through a new adequacy formula aimed at giving money to the schools that need it the most, according to a press release from the governor’s office. The bill also increases special education funding by $100 million and Career and Technical Education by $30 million.KAMALA HARRIS’ DECISION TO BYPASS JOSH SHAPIRO SHOWS SHE’S ‘BENT THE KNEE TO THE FAR-LEFT,’ SAYS JD VANCEThe budget will set aside $100 million for mental health and physical safety resources, $20 million for school safety and security improvements and $3 million for menstrual hygiene products for students in schools. It will also double funding for student teacher stipends to a total of $20 million.”I could not be happier to be back on my old home turf here in Reading with Governor Josh Shapiro,” Mumin said. “As I reflect on my time spent here in Reading as Superintendent, I can’t help but be amazed to see how much things have changed in education over the years. I remember when Reading School District was one of the most underfunded and under-resourced school districts in the Commonwealth.” “Today, thanks to the historic investments that Governor Shapiro has made two years in a row — the focus and attention that this Administration has given to education in Pennsylvania and the commitment to continuing that support — our schools are poised for generations of greatness,” he continued. The Amanda E. Stout Elementary School has more than 800 students, and school officials have said public funding for the school has long fallen behind that of other districts.Public education advocates previously sued, leading to a court ruling that said Pennsylvania’s school funding system was unconstitutional and unfair to poorer districts.Education officials in Reading said the new budget is a step in the right direction.”As a traditionally underfunded district, the Reading School District welcomes this unprecedented support,” Murray said. ‘These investments represent a critical step toward educational equity, and we are eager to witness the positive impact on our students and educators.”Shapiro said at the ceremonial bill signing in Reading: “I’m coming back next year to double down on our mission and continue to make sure public education is a priority in Pennsylvania.”Last year, Shapiro supported a school voucher program to give families $100 million for private school tuition and school supplies before abandoning the proposal amid pressure from fellow Democrats and deciding to do a line-item veto to remove that funding from that year’s budget, saying in July 2023 he did not want Pennsylvania to be “plunged into a painful, protracted budget impasse while our communities wait for the help and resources this commonsense budget will deliver.”

Tim Walz ‘misspoke’ about using weapons ‘in war,’ Harris campaign says: report

Tim Walz 'misspoke' about using weapons ‘in war,' Harris campaign says: report

Democratic vice presidential candidate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, whose military service has come under heavy scrutiny, “misspoke” in a 2018 video where he is heard talking about his handling of weapons “in war,” a Harris campaign spokesperson said Friday.”Governor Walz would never insult or undermine any American’s service to this country — in fact, he thanks Senator Vance for putting his life on the line for our country. It’s the American way,” the Harris campaign spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News. “In making the case for why weapons of war should never be on our streets or in our classrooms, the Governor misspoke. He did handle weapons of war and believes strongly that only military members trained to carry those deadly weapons should have access to them, unlike Donald Trump and JD Vance who prioritize the gun lobby over our children,” the spokesperson added.I SERVED WITH TIM WALZ AS A REPUBLICAN IN THE HOUSE. HE’LL BE A GOOD VICE PRESIDENTThe 2018 video clip shows Walz discussing gun control and referring to his own military background. “We can make sure that those weapons of war, that I carried in war, is the only place where those weapons are at,” Walz said in the clip, which was posted by Harris’ campaign on Tuesday.Republicans, led by vice presidential candidate JD Vance, have criticized Walz’s military service. Walz served 24 years in the National Guard but never deployed to a war zone. In 2003, he deployed with his unit to Vicenza, Italy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the name for the war in Afghanistan. Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung said that Walz’ campaign is scrambling to “clean up his own mess.” “Why won’t Tim Walz address his lies himself? Why does he need to send out lowly spokespeople to clean up his own mess? Walz is a liar and fraud, and Kamala picked a running mate that shares her own vile values,” Cheung said.Walz retired from the military in 2005, several months before the unit deployed to Iraq. Vance, a Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq, has accused Walz of “stolen valor.””I wonder Tim Walz, when were you ever in war?” Vance said at an event in Michigan. “What was this weapon you carried into war? What bothers me about Tim Walz is this stolen valor garbage. Do not pretend to be something that you’re not.””I’d be ashamed if I was him and I lied about my military service like he did,” he added.

Woman's body recovered from Grand Canyon for third death at national park in a week

Joe Rogan denies endorsing RFK Jr. for president, says he only meant to say he likes him ‘as a person’

Joe Rogan denies endorsing RFK Jr. for president, says he only meant to say he likes him 'as a person’

Podcast host Joe Rogan clarified that his recent comments praising Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as a presidential candidate were not an endorsement. After saying the independent 2024 presidential candidate is the “only one that makes sense to me,” the host of the “The Joe Rogan Experience” posted on X Friday that the comments weren’t meant to be taken as an official endorsement, but only his opinion on how much he likes RFK Jr.”For the record, this isn’t an endorsement. This is me saying that I like RFKjr as a person, and I really appreciate the way he discusses things with civility and intelligence,” Rogan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.Rogan’s post tried to stem the controversy generated by the earlier statements he made during his show. During his podcast, Rogan called out what he believes is ‘dirty politics” being played by both Democrats and Republicans in the 2024 campaign.”That’s politics. They do it on the left. They do it on the right. They gaslight you, they manipulate you. They promote narratives,” Rogan said.He then praised RFK for being “the only” candidate that doesn’t engage in those tactics.JOE ROGAN WARNS KAMALA HARRIS WILL WIN BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE ‘GIVING INTO THE BULLS—’ LIKE NEVER BEFORE”The only one who’s not doing that is Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,” Rogan said, noting that he’s “a fan.””He’s the only one that makes sense to me. He doesn’t attack people. He attacks actions and ideas. He’s much more reasonable and intelligent.” he added.Rogan’s comments went viral and took heat from pro-Trump circles on social media that condemned him for endorsing RFK over former President Trump. Even Trump himself blasted the podcast host and UFC commentator on his platform, Truth Social, writing, “It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring??? MAGA2024.”Rogan did damage control Friday afternoon, reposting a clip of his statements and declaring that he was only saying how much he likes RFK because of his “civility and intelligence.” “I think we could use more of that in this world,” he added. Rogan also added some praise for Trump, particularly for the way he handled the assassination attempt on him last month.”I also think Trump raising his fist and saying ‘fight!’ after getting shot is one of the most American f—— things of all time,” Rogan said, before advising his fans to listen to other people on political topics – like his friend, comic Dave Smith JOE ROGAN SUGGESTS ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS WITH THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS THE STAFF: ‘SO RIDICULOUS’”I’m not the guy to get political information from.  If you want that from a comic, go to @ComicDaveSmith. He actually knows what he’s talking about.”Smith – also an avowed libertarian – sounded off shortly after Rogan set the record straight. He rebuked pro-Trump accounts and Trump himself, saying, “Trump supporters have a lot of nerve flipping out because @joerogan said some nice things about RFK. During the greatest assault on liberty in modern US history, Trump praised lockdowns, demonized countries not locking down and brags to this day about the bs vax.”Smith then backed up his friend: “Rogan, on the other hand, had the biggest platform in the country and relentlessly exposed the entire con for what it was, in heroic fashion. I’m not endorsing Bobby Kennedy (neither is Joe btw) but he can support whoever the hell he wants to and if people who are voting for President lockdown warp speed have a problem, maybe they should consider the possibility that their guy should be less awful on stuff.”CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Three Columbia University administrators resign after ‘antisemitic tropes’ found in text messages

Three Columbia University administrators resign after 'antisemitic tropes' found in text messages

Three deans at Columbia University have resigned from their positions after they engaged in a texting exchange that “disturbingly touched on ancient antisemitic tropes.”Susan Chang-Kim, vice dean and chief administrative officer, Matthew Patashnick, associate dean for student and family support, and Cristen Kromm, dean of undergraduate student life, all have stepped down. The resignations came after President Dr. Minouche Shafik and provost Angela Olinto wrote a letter on July 8 to the campus community that addressed actions taken against three administrators who were involved in the text message exchanges on May 31.JEWISH COLUMBIA STUDENT GROUP CLAIMS ‘ANTISEMITISM IS SHAPESHIFTING’ IN OPEN LETTER “I am writing today to update our campus community on the actions the University is taking following an incident in which senior administrators in Columbia College engaged in very troubling text message exchanges during a Reunion Weekend event entitled ‘Jewish Life on Campus: Past, Present, and Future,’” the letter reads. The president explained further that the incident “revealed behavior and sentiments” that were “unprofessional” and “disturbingly touched on ancient antisemitic tropes.”Furthermore, Columbia University officials planned to launch a “vigorous program” of antisemitism and antidiscrimination training for faculty and staff in the fall.PARENTS WARN OF ‘NIGHTMARE’ CLIMATE ON COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY CAMPUS: JEWISH STUDENTS ‘ARE BEING THREATENED’Chang-Kim, Patashnick and Kromm were “permanently removed” and had been placed on leave since June. All three administrators criticized an antisemitism panel on May 31 in a text message exchange, The Washington Free Beacon first reported. Patashnick said one of the panelists was trying “to take full advantage of this moment. Huge fundraising potential.” Kromm texted vomiting emojis about a rabbi’s op-ed and wrote, “Amazing what $$$$ can do,” according to the Free Beacon. At another point, Chang-Kim said Jewish students voicing concerns about antisemitism were doing so from “such a place of privilege.”The texts eventually gained the attention of Congress, which has been investigating antisemitism on college campuses.Columbia University was among several universities across the U.S. rocked by protests amid the Gaza conflict. The protests there escalated so strongly that police had to step on campus to eject students after they occupied Hamilton Hall, in a humiliating episode for the elite school.Five Columbia students and graduates filed a class-action lawsuit last month against organizers and supporters of the anti-Israel encampments.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPColumbia University did not immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Trump assassination attempt: 3 key takeaways from newly released bodycam

Trump assassination attempt: 3 key takeaways from newly released bodycam

Newly released bodycam footage reveals the chaos that unfolded before and after Thomas Crooks’ assassination attempt on former President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last month. The Butler Township Police Department released 12 body camera videos Thursday that illustrate the colossal security failure that nearly felled the presidential nominee, cost a retired fire chief his life and seriously injured two others. On July 13, Crooks was able to clamber onto a rooftop and squeeze off eight shots a mere 147 yards from the former president as he addressed a crowd onstage. A countersniper stationed on a nearby roof swiftly killed Crooks with a single bullet to the head.TRUMP SHOOTING: TIMELINE OF ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT”I f—ing told them they need to post the guys f—ing over here. I told them,” a police officer can be heard saying minutes after the attempted assassination. “The Secret Service. I told them that f—ing Tuesday.” Another person can be heard off camera saying he thought the man speaking had been posted on the roof.”No, we were inside,” the local officer replied.Secret Service leadership has yet to adequately explain why no one was stationed on the roof, which had a direct line of sight to the president, but the footage suggests a complete breakdown in communication.TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT: TEXTS REVEAL OFFICERS WERE AWARE OF THOMAS CROOKS 90 MINUTES BEFORE SHOOTING”This reinforces that this was very badly organized, and that’s irrefutable, and that comes down to the Service,” former NYPD Inspector Paul Mauro told Fox News Digital. An officer can be seen hoisting a colleague onto the roof where Crooks was positioned with an AR-15 rifle. The shooter pointed the weapon at the officer, forcing him to duck and lose his balance while hanging from the side of the building.Seconds later, Crooks opened fire, striking Trump in the ear and killing former firefighter Corey Comperatore.”F—, this close bro, dude – he turned around on me,” the officer who came face-to-face with Crooks can be heard saying on the footage.TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT VICTIM DAVID DUTCH SPEAKS OUT FOR FIRST TIME SINCE HOSPITAL RELEASEThe video shows the officer scrambling to retrieve a large gun from his car and then joining a swarm of other law enforcement agents who begin surrounding the building. The officer describes Crooks to the others as they prepare to ascend to the roof, telling them that he has glasses and long hair. He adds that Crooks has a long gun and several magazines.”Watch out,” he tells them, “because he can come down right on top of you over there.”But Crooks was already dead. Later in the footage, Crooks’ lifeless body is seen surrounded by officers.FORMER SECRET SERVICE AGENT WARNS AGENCY ‘STRETCHED THIN’ WITH NEW RESPONSIBILITIES, LACK OF MANPOWERSeveral attendees said they repeatedly warned officers at the scene of Crooks’ presence.Police first took note of Crooks at 5:10 p.m., roughly 50 minutes before he shot at Trump. Local law enforcement took a picture of Crooks at 5:30 p.m. and alerted their superiors. But police lost sight of him.”I’m f—ing p—ed. We couldn’t find him,” another officer is heard saying in the bodycam footage.Mauro said the Butler Township Police officers who spotted Crooks on the roof were on traffic duty at the event yet realized the seriousness of the situation and abandoned their posts.”You can see the level of confusion,” he said. After the officer’s confrontation with Crooks, he relays to the other law enforcement officials his frustration.”Before you motherf—ers came up here, I popped my head up there like an idiot by myself, dude,” the officer who was boosted onto the roof says. “Then he (Crooks) turned around, and I f—ing dropped, and I started f—ing … I was calling out, ‘Bro, f—ing on top of the roof.’ F—ing, we’re not on the same frequency?”SECRET SERVICE DIRECTOR: TRUMP RALLY SHOOTER WAS IDENTIFIED AS ‘POTENTIAL PERSON OF SUSPICION’The comment suggests that the local police were not on the same radio frequency as the other law enforcement agencies, including the Secret Service, or their equipment wasn’t working properly, Mauro said. When the officer tried to warn the Secret Service that Crooks had a gun, the message didn’t get through.”The video confirms the speculation that the communications were a mess, and it’s undeniable,” Mauro said.Spotty cell service further hampered the team’s ability to communicate in the midst of a rapidly unfolding crisis.Shortly after the shooting, an officer can be heard on video summarizing the jarring lapse.”I’d say this is a f—up … somebody f—ed up,” he says. Fox News’ Audrey Conkin, Michael Dorgan and Stephen Sorace contributed to this report.

Trump campaign frames election as ‘complete contrast’ against Harris record

Trump campaign frames election as 'complete contrast' against Harris record

The 2024 presidential race is a “complete contrast campaign” pitting former President Trump’s record against Vice President Kamala Harris’, senior Trump campaign officials said Thursday, while stressing that the new Democrat ticket is “dangerously liberal,” but that “the fundamentals of the race are the same.” “Democrats say, ‘We can’t go back,’ but many Americans like the idea of no inflation, affordable food and gas, and low mortgage rates,” a Trump campaign official said. “Hire Trump, Fire Kamala.” TRUMP SAYS BIDEN HAD THE ‘RIGHT TO RUN,’ BUT DEM PARTY ‘TOOK IT AWAY’The campaign official said Trump is the “change” and Harris is the “status quo.” The Trump campaign said Harris is going to make an effort to separate herself from Biden. “We’re in a suspended reality for a few weeks,” an official said. “It is like Harris has never met Joe Biden and like she has no responsibility for what happened in the administration. But that is not what the voters think.” The official added: “But nothing has changed. The fundamentals of the race are the same.” The campaign also blasted Harris’ pick of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, saying he “reinforces the narrative that Harris is a dangerous liberal.” “When they start talking about ‘equal outcomes,’ they are essentially talking about communism,” a campaign official said. Meanwhile, as the campaign turns into the general election cycle, former President Trump is focused on continuing his efforts to persuade new voters in battleground states—specifically by delivering messages that present the contrasting records and policy stances between Trump and Harris. TRUMP STAGES MAR-A-LAGO PRESS CONFERENCE IN ‘STARK CONTRAST’ WITH HARRIS AS SHE AVOIDS MEDIATrump campaign officials said they are focused on advertising, direct mail, texting and calling new and traditional Republican voters and more. The Trump campaign said that it has made more than 150 million direct voter contacts with prospective voters so far and has mobilized through its “Trump Force 47” effort. Fox News Digital first broke the campaign’s “Trump Force 47” grassroots effort to recruit new voters. The program, which the campaign says is focused on mobilizing “highly targeted voters in critical precincts across the battleground states and districts,” has already engaged tens of thousands of volunteers. TRUMP CAMPAIGN TOUTS ‘TRUMP FORCE 47’ GRASSROOTS RECRUITMENT EFFORT 100 DAYS OUT FROM ELECTION DAY”Trump Force 47 is highly effective, because it takes traditional voter contact tactics a step further by equipping voters with the skills to persuade their neighbors to vote for President Trump,” Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital last month. The campaign told Fox News Digital that “Trump Force 47” builds on its early-state primary strategy of organizing volunteers at the precinct level, where each volunteer works to attract several specifically targeted voters. The “Trump Force 47” website says it is “the official army of volunteer neighborhood organizers working together to defeat Kamala Harris and the far-left liberal democrats.” Potential volunteers can sign up to target voter outreach in their own neighborhoods, call targeted voters, sign up for poll watching, be a “Trump Captain; host a “Trump House Party,” or deliver yard signs to neighbors. The Trump campaign said that economic concerns and the border are the issues that drive voters. “They are far more sour on the economy,” an official said. “They are more pessimistic about their overall personal finances.” As for campaign cash, a senior campaign official said the former president has $327 million cash-on-hand. “We never thought we’d have more than Democrats, but we have enough to do what we need to do,” a campaign official said, adding that they “imagine the Harris honeymoon ends soon.”
