“NFL RedZone” host Scott Hanson had a startling experience on Sunday as he and the producers with him weaved in and out of the league’s Sunday slate for Week 12 of the 2023 season. Palestinian students shot, injured at holiday gathering near University of Vermont

Palestinian students shot, injured at holiday gathering near University of Vermont

Three students of Palestinian descent were shot and injured while attending a Thanksgiving holiday gathering near the University of Vermont on Saturday evening, according to police.  Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad said the shooting occurred just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday and police are looking for the shooter.  Two of the men are in stable condition and the other suffered “much more serious injuries,” Murad said Sunday.  “Without speaking, he discharged at least four rounds from the pistol and is believed to have fled,” Murad said. “All three victims were struck, two in their torsos and one in the lower extremities.” The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) identified the three men as Hisham Awartani of Brown University, Kinnan Abdalhamid of Haverford College, and Tahseen Ahmed of Trinity College. The three men are all of Palestinian descent. Two are U.S. citizens and one is a legal resident. The trio was visiting a home of one of the victim’s relatives and were walking when they were confronted by a white man with a handgun, police said. At the time, two of the men were wearing the black-and-white Palestinian keffiyeh scarves. Murad said there is no additional information to suggest the suspect’s motive, but acknowledged the charged atmosphere against the backdrop of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.  “My deepest condolences go out to the victims and their families,” Murad said in a news release. “In this charged moment, no one can look at this incident and not suspect that it may have been a hate-motivated crime. And I have already been in touch with federal investigatory and prosecutorial partners to prepare for that if it’s proven.” FORMER OBAMA ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL CHARGED WITH HATE CRIME AFTER CONFRONTATION WITH NYC FOOD CART VENDOR He added, “The fact is that we don’t yet know as much as we want to right now. But I urge the public to avoid making conclusions based on statements from uninvolved parties who know even less.” The ADC said a man shouted and harassed the victims, who were conversing in Arabic, then proceeded to shoot them. The FBI said it is aware of the shootings. “If, in the course of the local investigation, information comes to light of a potential federal violation, the FBI is prepared to investigate,” Sarah Ruane, an FBI spokesperson based in Albany, New York, said in a statement. The White House said that President Joe Biden was briefed on the shooting and will continue to receive updates as law enforcement gathers more information. The Council on American-Islamic Relations said it was offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the shooting. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the Vermont Independent, denounced the attack, calling it “shocking and deeply upsetting.”  “Hate has no place here, or anywhere. I look forward to a full investigation,” Sanders said in a statement. “My thoughts are with them and their families.” Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger said he had been in communication with the family of one of the victims and the city’s Muslim community, “offering the city’s support and commitment to justice in this painful time.”  The University of Vermont said it was saddened by reports of the shooting.  “In this period of unrest in other regions of the world, we encourage you to pay close attention to the sources and authenticity of information you receive about this incident,” the university said in a statement to the community. “We ask you to do your part in helping to avoid speculation as the investigation progresses.”  Vermont Governor Phil Scott called the shooting a tragedy and wished for a speedy recovery.  “My thoughts are with them and their families. I have offered the State’s full support to the Mayor and Burlington Police Chief as this senseless crime is investigated and in support of the Palestinian and broader Burlington community. Our federal partners also stand ready to assist.”  Demonstrations have been widespread and tensions are escalating in the United States as the death toll rises in the Israel-Hamas war. A fragile cease-fire between Israel and Hamas was back on track Sunday as the militants freed more hostages in a third set of releases under a four-day cease-fire deal.

Univision anchor blasts network over Trump interview: ‘Question and fact-check everything he says’

Univision anchor blasts network over Trump interview: 'Question and fact-check everything he says'

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos criticized the network in a column published Saturday about their interview with former President Donald Trump, saying that journalists must continue to question those in power. Ramos, an anchor at Univision and a frequent critic of the former president, weighed in on the mounting criticism of the network after its recent interview with Trump.  “That’s why it is very dangerous to fail to confront Trump. And that’s why it is our moral obligation to confront him every time there’s a journalistic opportunity to do it. But I understand that not everyone agrees, and I open the debate here,” he continued.  “I believe we must question and confront Trump for democracy, for the rights of immigrants and, simply, for good journalism,” he wrote. Ramos, who was expelled from a press conference by Trump in 2015, argued that journalists must “question and fact-check everything he says and does.” CNN HEMORRHAGING VIEWERS SINCE IRKING LIBERALS WITH TRUMP TOWN HALL, HITS SEVERAL RECENT LOWS “What few people know is that, after that incident, Trump allowed me to return to the news conference and ask him questions for about 10 minutes. I confronted him about his plans to build a wall on the border with Mexico and deport millions of undocumented migrants. I mentioned that many Hispanics despised him for his anti-immigration rhetoric and that, regardless of what he expected, he would not win the Latino vote. And he did not, not in 2016 and not in 2020,” he wrote, elaborating on the incident.  Liberals slammed Univision for the interview, including “The View” co-host Ana Navarro, who argued Ramos should have been the one to interview the former president.  “It is time for us Latinos to hold Univision accountable,” she said. Actor John Leguizamo took to social media and called on fellow activists to not go on Univision.  UNIVISION CEO DEFENDS TRUMP INTERVIEW AFTER UPROAR, SAYS NETWORK WON’T BE ‘DETERRED BY PARTISAN INTERESTS’ He also called out the network during an appearance on “The Daily Show,” saying Univision missed an opportunity to call out Trump’s “anti-Latino policies.” The actor said that while there is “nothing wrong with Univision interviewing Trump,” the problem was that the outlet missed an opportunity to “confront” him.  “I thought it would be a dope opportunity to confront him on his hardline anti-Latino policies,” Leguizamo said. “But instead of an interview worthy of Univision, we saw this caca mierda,” a crude term roughly translating to excrement. Ramos argued the journalists shouldn’t take sides, and noted that the media was obligated to “broadcast the messages” of 2024 presidential candidates.  “Of course we should not take sides, and we are obliged to broadcast the messages of all candidates in the 2024 presidential election. But at the same time, we cannot surrender our responsibility to ask hard and precise questions. That’s what journalism is for. These journalistic principles apply to everyone,” he wrote.

Area codes are now more of a status symbol than a practicality

Area codes are now more of a status symbol than a practicality

The way we communicate is a concept that has drastically and rapidly evolved.  Today, within a couple of seconds, we can be on a phone call with someone on the other side of the world.  Not too long ago, it took the help of an operator and some patience to make a phone call.  At a time when phone calls were being placed without enough operators to connect them quickly, a new method was necessary. This is how area codes came about. HOW TO STAY INCOGNITO AND CONCEAL YOUR NUMBER WHEN CALLING SOMEONE But how exactly did area codes come to be? What location received the very first code? Do these three digits still matter today?  Read below to find out.  The area code is the first three digits in a phone number. These three digits correlate to a specific geographic area.  The geographic location identified by an area code can be one city or multiple towns. All area codes are three digits. A phone number is split into four different sections. The first is the country code. This is the very first digit in a number used when making an international call.  For the United States and Canada, the country code is +1.  Next is the three-digit area code. Following that are the three-digit telephone prefix and the last four digits, called the line number.  Before area codes, human operators connected calls. Area codes started to be assigned as an easier way for people to connect via phone, with no operator necessary.  CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER  Area codes began being distributed with the North American Numbering Plan created by AT&T in 1947.  Before that, there wasn’t a lot of structure to phone numbers. Some areas had four digits and others had five. This plan cleaned up the system by assigning area codes to different geographic locations.  At the start, there were 86 area codes assigned. Now there are hundreds of different area codes.  The number 201 was the first area code — and it was issued in New Jersey in 1951.  The 201 area code no longer covers all of New Jersey as it once did, but it still remains in parts of the state, including Jersey City, Union City and Hoboken.  Area codes aren’t as vital as they once were.  For many, they have become part of an individual’s “identity” now more than anything else.  This is because cellphones are how most people communicate, and landline phones have become a thing of the past.  When people move to a location with a different area code, they often keep their old number to avoid the hassle of a number switch. So, a person’s area code doesn’t necessarily correspond with where a call is placed.  For some, like businesses, area codes are important to establish credibility when making calls. Certain area codes have become popular, with people proud to wear area codes on clothing if they have a popular one — such as 310 for Los Angeles, New York City’s 212 or Miami’s 305.  For more Lifestyle articles, visit www.foxnews.com/lifestyle.

Will Smith kisses Jada Pinkett Smith's forehead in cozy holiday snap: 'Best Thanksgiving Ever!'

Will Smith posed affectionately with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith as they celebrated Thanksgiving with their family. On Friday, the 55-year-old actor shared a slideshow of black and white photos after celebrating the holiday with the 52-year-old actress, their children and their mothers Caroline Bright and Adrienne Banfield-Norris. In one image, Smith was seen kissing Pinkett Smith on the forehead as she smiled and closed her eyes while the two wrapped their arms around each other’s waists. “Best Thanksgiving Ever! (That’s Mom-Mom with her 9 grandkids!!),” the “King Richard” star wrote in the caption, tagging photographer Alan Silfen. The couple’s son Jaden, 25, and daughter Willow, 23 were featured in the Thanksgiving photo shoot as well as Smith’s son Trey, 31, whom he shares with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino.  WILL SMITH BREAKS SILENCE ON JADA PINKETT SMITH’S MEMOIR: ‘EMOTIONAL BLINDNESS SETS IN’ Zampino, who was married to Smith from 1992 to 1995, was also seen taking part in the festivities. She and Pinkett Smith beamed as they posed with Smith and their children in one snap. In another photo, Zampino and Smith posed with their arms around Trey. Smith and Pinkett Smith’s cozy holiday celebration comes after the former “Red Table Talk” host revealed that they had been separated for 7 years.  APP USERS CLICK HERE TO VIEW POST “We live separately,” Pinkett Smith admitted in an interview with Hoda Kotb for the “Today” show while promoting her book, “Worthy” last month. “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise,” she said.  Pinkett Smith shared that the pair, who wed in 1997, split in 2016. The “Matrix Revolutions” actress said she and Smith “were just exhausted with trying” to stay together. “I think we were both kind of just still, stuck in our fantasy, of what we thought the other person should be.” LIKE WHAT YOU’RE READING? They even kept it quiet through a period of intense scrutiny, when the actress was accused of cheating on Smith with family friend August Alsina. In 2021, Pinkett Smith reluctantly confirmed her relationship with Alsina in a conversation with Smith on “Red Table Talk.” “I got into a different kind of ‘entanglement’ with August,” the actress revealed, while also admitting she and Smith were separated at the time. She further clarified, “It was a relationship, absolutely.” CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER The couple’s relationship is complicated, and Pinkett Smith said that they are “still figuring it out.” “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us,” she said. After the news of their separation broke, Smith made light of the media frenzy with a humorous post that he shared on Instagram. The “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” alum posted a clip of himself on a ship in which he was seen lying down below deck, bundled up and seemingly at ease with his arms crossed and eyes shut. “Fun fact about me,” a voice is heard saying over the video. “I can take a nap almost anywhere.” The caption for the post also read, “Notifications off” with a smiling face. Pinkett Smith responded to the video with laughing emojis. The Oscar winner later shared his reaction to “Worthy” in an email sent to The New York Times. The actor admitted that the book woke him up, noting the actress had “lived a life more on the edge than he’d realized, and she is more resilient, clever and compassionate than he’d understood.” “When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” Smith wrote. Earlier this month, Pinkett Smith revealed that the two planned to take legal action against an alleged former associate who claimed that Smith had a sexual relationship with actor Duane Martin, calling the rumors “ridiculous.”

Steelers star players had ‘heated’ exchange in locker room after loss to Browns: report

Steelers star players had ‘heated’ exchange in locker room after loss to Browns: report

All-Pro wide receiver Diontae Johnson was visibly upset after the Pittsburgh Steelers’ disappointing Week 11 loss to the Cleveland Browns. And a new report from ESPN revealed Johnson’s frustration escalated into a “heated” exchange with one of his teammates.  ESPN learned Johnson’s frustration spilled over into the Steelers locker room last Sunday, and, at some point, he appeared to target defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick.  Steelers veterans Cameron Heyward and T.J. Watt stepped in and broke up the spat. The report added that Watt emphasized the importance of the team sticking together. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM The reported altercation came just a couple of days before longtime head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed offensive coordinator Matt Canada had been fired. “Matt Canada has been relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator,” Tomlin said in a statement. “I appreciate Matt’s hard work and dedication, and I wish him the best moving forward in his career.” STEELERS’ KENNY PICKETT ADMITS SURPRISE AFTER OC MATT CANADA WAS FIRED: ‘YOU HATE TO SEE IT’ The lack of production from the Steelers’ offense has been widely discussed this season. The team produced just 77 passing yards and 10 points in its game against the AFC North rival Browns. Johnson finished the game against Cleveland with two catches for 16 yards. He also appeared to have a colorful exchange with Tomlin during the game on the sideline. Sources told ESPN the Steelers appear to have moved on from the incident and were able to focus on preparing for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Running backs coach Eddie Faulkner was promoted to offensive coordinator, but quarterback coach Mike Sullivan is expected to handle the majority of the play-calling duties during games. “You hate to see it,” Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett told reporters this week. “You don’t want to see one of your coaches lose their job. We all got to be better.” Earlier this week, Faulkner said the team felt it had let Canada down. “I couldn’t say enough good about Matt Canada,” Faulkner said. “It’s a little bit bittersweet in that way because when you sit back and you see all that goes on, and all that’s being said about him and the offense, we all — and I’m speaking for the offense when I say this to staff — we all felt that we’re all part of that. Nobody’s absolving themselves from anything that’s happened in that regard. We feel like we let him down.” FROM OUTKICK: TURKEY LEGS IN SALVATION ARMY KETTLE: HOW DALLAS COWBOYS PULLED OFF THANKSGIVING TD CELEBRATION The Steelers have been outgained in all ten of their games. Pittsburgh ranks 28th in both points per game and yards per game. Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s disagreement about discipling son: ‘His era of parenting is different’

Katharine McPhee and David Foster's disagreement about discipling son: 'His era of parenting is different'

Katharine McPhee and David Foster admitted that they don’t always see eye to eye when it comes to raising their two-year-old son Rennie due to their age gap. The 39-year-old singer and the 74-year-old composer, who married in 2019, told People magazine that they sometimes disagree over their approaches to parenting Rennie because they are from different generations. “I want to start disciplining [Rennie] and Kat’s not really down with that,” Foster said during a joint interview with McPhee. “No, that’s not true,” McPhee told the outlet. “I just want to discipline in my own way.” KATHARINE MCPHEE AND DAVID FOSTER RAISING THEIR SON NOT TO BE AN ‘A-HOLE’ “There’s the more old-fashioned way of disciplining which involves time-outs and things like that,” the “American Idol” alum explained. “My take is that you can have more mindful parenting opposed to just assuming that a two or three-year-old can have time alone to reflect on what they’ve done poorly.” She continued, “I think the more new way of parenting is understanding that with a child, there’s only so much that they can intellectually understand. Saying ‘That was really bad, that was really, really bad,’ gets into a shaming thing. I think disciplining is something that happens over time.” The “Smash” star  told People that her husband doesn’t entirely share her perspective on modern parenting. Rennie is the sixth child for Foster and the first for McPhee. But he’s two and a half, and he’s learning those things.” “It’s just a different approach. I think his era of parenting is different than mine,” the California native added.  However, McPhee told the outlet that she and Foster agree to disagree over their different parenting styles. “We don’t have arguments about it,” she said. They get to experience it with life.  “So we’ll just wait,” McPhee added. “Talk to us when he’s three.” During McPhee and Foster’s interview with People, the singer revealed the only activity that can provoke an argument between the pair. It’s always been an easy thing for me.” However, McPhee admitted that giving Foster driving directions when they are on the road is “less of a pleasure.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “He’s always like ‘Where do I turn now, where do I turn now,” she said with a laugh. “The only time we get into arguments is when I’m helping him navigate freaking directions.” “It’s true. Black voters reveal to the NY Times reasons they’re hesitant to reelect Biden in 2024: ‘He’s too old’

Black voters reveal to the NY Times reasons they’re hesitant to reelect Biden in 2024: ‘He’s too old’

A recent New York Times podcast episode featured several Black voices expressing their hesitation and “concern” over voting for President Biden’s re-election in 2024, with some claiming Biden is “too old,” and others stating that the Democratic Party has not fulfilled its promises to Black Americans. Some respondents noted why they believe former President Trump and Republicans may attract an unprecedented portion of the African American vote next year, claiming that Black men like the party’s message of financial independence. The Times’ “The Run-Up” podcast involved its host, reporter Astead Herndon, going home for Thanksgiving and interviewing his various Black friends and family members gathered for the holiday about their current view of the Democratic Party and whether they would vote for Biden or Trump in 2024. LATINO VOTERS WARN BIDEN THAT LIFE WAS BETTER UNDER TRUMP: ‘LOTS OF FRUSTRATION’ Herndon said he was inspired to conduct the holiday survey after seeing a recent New York Times/Siena College poll of battleground voters which revealed that “22 percent of Black voters said they would support Donald Trump over Joe Biden in a hypothetical rematch in 2024. That’s compared to the 8 percent Trump carried nationally in 2020.” He noted that several of his family’s Black dinner guests’ testimonies tracked with this data, as several of them revealed they’re reluctant to vote for the Democratic Party.  Herndon asked about why the Black vote seems to be slipping from Democrats even though they just lived through the “high point” of Obama administration. One guest felt the opposite of nostalgia for former President Obama, saying, “I’ve been let down by Obama. Do you hear me?” When asked why, he continued, “I feel as though he could have done more for us. I feel as though – specifically Chicagomans, that’s where he comes from. After seeing you know, Trump and all that he did, it’s like, ‘Man, Obama, you could’ve did the same thing! You could’ve been robed too before your people!” The guest continued, noting that Obama not doing enough for Black Americans was “disheartening,” and claimed that as a result, young people he has mentored “stopped voting altogether.” He added, “They lost faith in the political system.” Later in the episode, the same guest claimed he was “very, very torn” between voting for Biden and Trump, though admitted he “cannot vote for Trump.” Still, he expressed unease about picking Biden, saying, “Also voting for Biden – it also brings concern to my life as well.” BLACK VOTERS UNHAPPY WITH BIDEN, DEMOCRATIC STRATEGISTS FEAR IT COULD ‘THREATEN HIS RE-ELECTION’: NY TIMES A female guest told Herndon, “I probably would not vote for either. I don’t like either one.” After getting resistance from fellow guests, she explained, “But it’s like, am I gonna vote for someone who I absolutely don’t want and then vote for someone who I really don’t want either?” The host then asked the crowd, “Do you feel like you’re a Democrat more because of what Democrats do or more because of what Republicans do?” Several voices replied, admitting they were Democrats in reaction to Republicans’ agenda. Elsewhere, Herndon asked several guests why they believe that Black men may be more open than Black women to voting for Republicans. One man responded, “The financial mobility. The Republican Party preaches somewhat of – this concept of strap up your bootstraps and kind of will your own way – to make your own way as far as financially.” “I think that appeals to more men that are disenfranchised that want to take another step financially within their communities,” he said.  The same guest also hammered Democrats, saying, “I honestly feel that the Democratic Party has forgot about the Black male.” He noted that the party seems to focus on appealing to Black women voters. When Herndon asked a group of male guests, “What’s the word on Biden,” one shot back, “He’s too old.”  Another chimed in, saying, “We talk about the negatives of Trump often, but we don’t talk about the negatives of Biden. In a world of today’s politics where most policies are written by think tanks and groups of people, Biden hand wrote a policy that resulted in more Black people being locked up than ever in the history of America.”

Kim Jong-Un claims to see US target regions with spy satellite, including Pearl Harbor and Hickam Air Base

Kim Jong-Un claims to see US target regions with spy satellite, including Pearl Harbor and Hickam Air Base

North Korea is claiming its newly launched military spy satellite has provided leadership with photo images of key South Korean and U.S. bases. Kim Jong-Un visited the Pyongyang General Control Centre of the National Aerospace Technology Administration on Friday to learn about developments in using the spy satellite. “Kim Jong Un learned in detail about the photos of major target areas in the enemy region, including Mokpho, Kunsan, Phyongthaek, Osan and Seoul, and of various regions in the country, taken by the reconnaissance satellite while passing through the Korean Peninsula from 10:15 to 10:27 a.m. that day,” state media outlet Korean Central News Agency reported. NORTH KOREA SPY SATELLITE IS LATEST SURVEILLANCE THREAT TO US, ALLIES – WITH KIM THREATENING MORE LAUNCHES The report added, “The NATA reported to him on the plan for photographing the enemy region and the additional fine-tuning process of the reconnaissance satellite on the morning of November 25.” Camp Humphreys, located in Pyeongtaek, is a U.S. Army Garrison and the largest overseas base operated by the U.S. military.  Kim Jong-Un returned to the command center on Saturday to review further satellite images, including the Jinhae, Busan, Ulsan, Pohang, Daegu and Gangneung regions of South Korea.  UN COMMITTEE PASSES RESOLUTION CONDEMNING NORTH KOREAN HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES FOR 19TH YEAR IN A ROW North Korea also claimed to have taken photos of Pearl Harbor naval base and Hickam Air Base in Honolulu, according to KCNA.  North Korean state media did not release any photos of the supposed satellite imagery. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff acknowledged on Wednesday the apparent success of the Malligyong-1 satellite launch into orbit, though they stopped short of confirming it was operational. This was the third attempt by North Korean leaders to launch a military spy satellite into orbit. The North Korean military previously attempted spy satellite launches in May and August – both ended in failure due to technical issues. State media have also claimed similar operations are planned to continue into the future to fortify North Korea’s war capabilities.

Atlanta cops arrest 8 pro-Palestinian protesters near Lenox Square Mall after refusing to disperse from street

Eight pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested on Friday at a demonstration near Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta, Georgia. Dozens of protesters holding signs supporting Palestinians marched from the Lenox MARTA station toward Peachtree Road Friday afternoon. Demonstrators were heard shouting “From the sea to the river, Palestine will live forever,” as honking cars went by. Police were seen putting multiple people in zip-tie handcuffs before placing them into transport vehicles while demonstrators demanded their release. Among those taken into police custody was one person who was wearing a sash that read “legal observer,” according to Fox 5 Atlanta. ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTERS DISRUPT BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING TO CALL FOR PALESTINIAN UPRISING: ‘INTIFADA REVOLUTION’ The Atlanta Police Department said in a statement to Fox 5 Atlanta that some of the demonstrators entered the street and refused officers’ orders to disperse. “APD continues to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of shoppers, visitors and demonstrators, and to uphold the law and protect the right to free speech,” a spokesperson said. Other pro-Palestinian protests happened across multiple other U.S. cities on Friday, including in New York City, Los Angeles and Boston, to disrupt Black Friday shoppers, with some calling for a Palestinian uprising in the Middle East. The protests came on the same day Israeli forces and Hamas terrorists began a four-day cease-fire agreement that included the release of hostages taken by Hamas during the Oct. 7 attack against Israel and Palestinian prisoners held in the Jewish State. HOSTAGE FAMILIES REBUKE JOURNALISTS’ ‘FALSE EQUIVALENCE’ BETWEEN ISRAEL, HAMAS AT VATICAN PRESS CONFERENCE The 24 hostages released by Hamas on Friday included 13 Israeli hostages, 10 Thai hostages and one Filipino hostage. More than three dozen Palestinian prisoners jailed in Israel were also freed as part of the deal, including 24 women — some of whom were convicted of attempted murder for attacks on Israeli forces — and 15 teenagers imprisoned for offenses including throwing stones. But Israelis and Palestinians are not satisfied by the temporary cease-fire — Israelis because not all hostages will be released and Palestinians because of how short the pause in the fighting will last. Israel said the cease-fire could be extended if more hostages are released by Hamas, but that the war will continue when the truce ends. Approximately 14,000 people have been killed in Gaza and Israel since Hamas launched its largest attack against Israel in decades on Oct. 7, leading to a military response from Israeli forces. Thousands more have been wounded, and many others have been taken hostage by Hamas and raped, tortured and murdered.

Dolphins’ Jevon Holland rips stadium’s ‘trash’ turf after Jaelan Phillips suffered apparent Achilles injury

Dolphins' Jevon Holland rips stadium's 'trash' turf after Jaelan Phillips suffered apparent Achilles injury

The Miami Dolphins dominated the New York Jets in the NFL’s first-ever Black Friday game. But Miami’s 34-13 win at MetLife Stadium proved to be costly. Standout pass rusher Jaelan Phillips fell to the turf in the fourth quarter. Phillips was visibly emotional as he was eventually carted towards the team’s locker room area. T The non-contact injury appeared to bring Phillips’ season to an end, with the Dolphins later ruling out the star linebacker for the remainder of the game with an Achilles injury. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Phillips had a walking boot on his right ankle and was seen using crutches after the game. Second-year Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel did not express confidence about hopes that Phillips was able to avoid a serious injury. DOLPHINS’ JEVON HOLLAND CLOSES OUT FIRST HALF OF BLACK FRIDAY GAME WITH 99-YARD PICK-SIX “It doesn’t look great but we’ll find out more tomorrow,” McDaniel told reporters. “I’m not fired up about it.” Phillips later took to social media to express his disappointment, but also vowed to return to football and be “stronger than ever.” “Absolutely devastated, but I feel strength in knowing that this is all a part of God’s plan, and that I have an incredible team and support system around me. I’ll be back stronger than ever,” Phillips wrote on X, the company formerly known as Twitter. Dolphins safety Jevon Holland made a game-changing interception to close out the first half. But after the game, Holland expressed his frustration over his teammate’s injury. The defensive back believes Phillips’ injury could have been prevented if the Jets’ home stadium featured a different playing surface. From Holland’s point of view, the infamous turf inside MetLife Stadium was “trash.” “That field was trash,” Holland said via the Miami Herald. Holland also mentioned that he was aware of the stadium’s field conditions heading into Friday’s matchup with the Jets. He also recalled former Dolphins cornerback Jamal Perry’s knee injury in 2021 during a game at the stadium.  MetLife Stadium installed new artificial turf prior to the start of this season following a string of complaints about the playing surface. OUTKICK: LIONS CONTINUE TO CONTROL DIVISION DESPITE LOSS, BUT FUTURE MAY BELONG TO PACKERS’ JORDAN LOVE Holland also suffered an injury late in the game, with the Dolphins saying his return was questionable with a knee injury at the time. Phillips has recorded 43 combined tackles, 6.5 sacks, and one interception this season.

Kamala Harris roasted for Thanksgiving pic: ‘Is that a gas stove?’

Kamala Harris roasted for Thanksgiving pic: 'Is that a gas stove?'

Vice President Kamala Harris faced criticism on social media after sharing a post of her and second husband Doug Emhoff posing next to a gas stove on Thanksgiving despite the Biden administration’s proposal earlier this year advocating for the ban of gas stoves. “From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving,” Harris posted on X. Several conservatives pointed out the gas stove in the photo.  “Is that a gas stove?” Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., responded.  Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and America First activist Laura Loomer also posted about the observation. MORE THAN TWO DOZEN DEMOCRATS JOIN GOP IN OPPOSING BIDEN GAS STOVE BAN GOP LOOKS TO RESCUE GAS STOVES FROM BIDEN’S ‘EXTREME’ BAN The Biden administration previously claimed they planned to ban gas stoves after U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s top leader, Richard Trumka Jr., told Bloomberg “a ban on gas stoves is on the table” over health concerns.  “This is a hidden hazard,” Trumka told Bloomberg. “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.” Trumka later said it would not apply to existing stoves, but only to new products. That idea was scrapped, but it was followed by a proposed Department of Energy (DOE) regulation that would impose tough new energy efficiency standards for gas stoves. The House of Representatives approved an amendment in March – with help from several Democrats – that would prevent the DOE from implementing strict new regulations on gas stoves that most stoves on the market today would not be able to meet. The House voted 251 to 181 in favor of the amendment from Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., to a larger energy policy bill, and 29 Democrats voted with the GOP. ENERGY DEPARTMENT PROPOSES TIGHTER EFFICIENCY STANDARDS FOR GAS, ELECTRIC STOVES AND OVENS About 38% of American households, or roughly 40 million, use natural gas to cook in their homes. The White House and vice president’s office did not respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment. Fox News’ Elizabeth Elkind contributed to this report.

Dolly Parton steals show on Thanksgiving, dresses as Dallas Cowboys cheerleader for halftime performance

Dolly Parton steals show on Thanksgiving, dresses as Dallas Cowboys cheerleader for halftime performance

The Dallas Cowboys continued their tradition of playing on Thanksgiving, but it was the halftime show that stole headlines.  Dolly Parton, the 77-year-old country music legend, performed at halftime of the game between the Cowboys and the Washington Commanders.  Parton performed at midfield dressed in the iconic Cowboys cheerleader outfit and sang some of her hits.  COWBOYS PULL TURKEY LEGS OUT OF SALVATION ARMY KETTLE; DAK PRESCOTT THROWS 4 TOUCHDOWNS IN WIN OVER COMMANDERS The country music star performed “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and her own rendition of “We Are The Champions” by Queen. It was the second time in less than a week that Parton was seen on a football field, as she joined NFL great Peyton Manning for Tennessee’s game against top-ranked Georgia.  Parton joined the crowd in singing “Rocky Top” at the end of the first quarter.  “Well, I couldn’t hear, but I love the song!” Parton said after her performance, according to WATE 6 in Knoxville. “I just want you to know how proud I am to be here and thank you so much for taking special attention to do whatever we do. And I had a little trouble with hearing, but we know “Rocky Top,” and that song was written by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, and Dale. Their son is in the stadium tonight. So I guess we’ll play ball! Thank you!” CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Parton’s performance on Thursday came during the Cowboys route of the Commanders as Dallas moved to 8-3 on the season.  Dallas extended its home winning streak to 13 in a 45-10 victory over Washington.  Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns as the Dallas offense scored 25 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.  The loss for Washington was the eighth in the last ten games as the Commanders fell to 4-8 on the season.  “We just got beat by a lot of points on Thanksgiving,” receiver Terry McLaurin said. “The game was within reach. And we just didn’t make the necessary plays to kind of put the ball in the end zone and do our part. So that’s never a good feeling.” The NFL continues on Friday with a game between the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Matthew Perry, John Krasinski refused to film cheating scenes: ‘I’m not going to shoot it’

Matthew Perry, John Krasinski refused to film cheating scenes: ‘I’m not going to shoot it'

Certain Hollywood actors drew the line when it came to filming specific scenes during their careers. Fans across the globe grew to love the hit sitcom, “Friends” and the major story line of Chandler Bing and Monica Geller’s relationship. Matthew Perry, who portrayed Bing, refused to cheat on Geller, who was played by Courteney Cox, during the show’s 10-year run. Like Perry, John Krasinski did not want Jim Halpert to cheat on Jenna Fischer’s Pam Beesly on “The Office.” Here is a look at some stars who put their foot down and refused to film specific scenes. MATTHEW PERRY’S TOXICOLOGY REPORT ‘SHOULD BE FINISHED,’ FORMER MEDICAL EXAMINER SAYS After Perry’s death in October, actress Lisa Cash spoke out about how she was cast to star as Chandler’s on-screen affair partner, but Perry said no to the storyline. “Matthew Perry said the audience would never forgive him,” Cash told NBC News. “Matthew Perry went to the writers and said the audience would never forgive him (Chandler), which made a lot of sense.” The cheating scene was meant to occur in season five, episode 23 on the “The One in Vegas: Part 1” episode. Cash did end up appearing in “Friends” as a flight attendant in a scene with Ross Geller, played by David Schwimmer and Rachel Green, played by Jennifer Aniston.  Cash completely agreed with Perry’s call to nix the scene, even if that meant she did not get a major role in the award-winning “Friends.” “I think he was very right,” Cash said. “The Ross and Rachel (David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston) thing, ‘They were on a break,’ but this wouldn’t have been on a break. This would have been a decision he would have made while they were together.” She continued, “I think it would have really changed how the audience would have (viewed) Chandler and that whole thing. I don’t know if they could have survived it.” In 2017, Perry was a guest on “Watch What Happens: Live” with Andy Cohen where he confessed to a second “Friends” scene he refused to film.  “There was a storyline on ‘Friends’ where Chandler went to a male strip joint because he really liked the sandwiches,” Perry began. “And I called up and said, ‘let’s not do this one.'” Perry was successful in his request and the strip club scene never made it into “Friends.” Similar to Perry, Krasinski could not cheat on his on-screen soulmate. Fans of “The Office” know that Jim and Pam had chemistry from the very beginning of their co-worker relationship at the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  However, it was not until season six that the couple tied the knot at Niagara Falls. JOHN KRASINSKI AND ‘THE OFFICE’ CAST RECREATE SHOW’S WEDDING DANCE FOR NEWLYWEDS In the book, “Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Ultimate Oral History of The Office,” Krasinski recalled that originally the script called for Jim to have an affair with the new secretary in the office when Pam went on maternity leave with the on-screen couple’s first child. “That’s the only time I remember putting my foot down,” the actor recalled in the book written by Brian Baumgartner and Ben Silverman. “I remember saying things that I never thought I’d say before, like, ‘I’m not going to shoot it.’” To Krasinski, the devoted “Office” fans would not have responded well to Jim’s affair. “My feeling is there is a threshold with which you can push our audience,” he said in the book. “They are so dedicated. We have shown such great respect to them. But there’s a moment where if you push them too far, they’ll never come back. And I think that if you show Jim cheating, they’ll never come back.” Krasinski starred as Jim in all nine seasons of “The Office.” The hit sitcom was on air from 2005-2013. Even at 14, Zendaya was putting her foot down in her acting career. LIKE WHAT YOU’RE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS In 2021, the “Euphoria” star told British Vogue that she was scripted to kiss her co-star on “Shake It Up,” but she refused. “I remember being on ‘Shake It Up’ and being like, ‘I’m not gonna do this,'” she told the outlet. “I’m going to kiss him on the cheek because I haven’t been kissed yet so I don’t want the kiss to be on camera.'” Zendaya was on the Disney Channel show from 2010-2013 as Rocky Blue, starring alongside Bella Thorne. Ben Affleck revealed to The New York Times in 2014 that his Boston Red Sox loyalty runs so deep that he would not wear a New York Yankees hat when filming a scene in “Gone Girl.” CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER Affleck told the outlet that he and director David Fincher got into “a legitimate fight” over the hat, which he called “a one-man riot against the Yankees.” “I said, ‘David, I love you, I would do anything for you,'” Affleck recalled. “‘But I will not wear a Yankees hat. I just can’t. I can’t wear it because it’s going to become a thing… I will never hear the end of it. I can’t do it and I couldn’t put it on my head.”  In the “Gone Girl” scene, Affleck reached a compromise with Fincher and sported a New York Mets cap. In 2021, Seth Rogen revealed that Emma Watson refused to film a scene in “This is the End.” The scene reportedly involved Danny McBride as a cannibal, and Channing Tatum as a “gimp, wearing a leather-thonged mask and on a leash,” according to Entertainment Tonight.  After the interview was released, Rogen clarified his comments about his co-star on X. “Emma Watson did not ‘storm off the set’ and it’s s—ty that the perception is that she did,” Rogen wrote at the time. “The scene was not what was originally scripted, it was getting improvised, changed drastically and was not what she agreed to.”  He noted that the perception of Watson being “uncool” or “unprofessional” was not true. Rogen said he should have “communicated” his comments better and was actually impressed with Watson standing up for herself. “We agreed on her not being in the scene together. I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with her and would be thrilled to get that opportunity again. I am very sorry and disappointment it happened, and I wish I had done more to prevent it,” Rogen concluded.
