Taylor Swift returns to Rio stage after postponing Eras Tour concert, fan death

Taylor Swift returns to Rio stage after postponing Eras Tour concert, fan death

Taylor Swift resumed The Eras Tour Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after postponing a concert amid a dangerous heatwave and the death of a fan. During Sunday’s show, Swift performed “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” as one of her surprise songs, what fans speculated could be a tribute to Ana Clara Benevides Machado who died Friday before Eras kicked off. The “Cruel Summer” singer postponed her concert the night before due to “extreme temperatures.” On Friday morning, the apparent temperature — a combination of temperature and humidity — was recorded at 138 F, the highest index ever recorded in the area.  “I’m writing this from my dressing room at the stadium. The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to extreme temperatures in Rio. The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers and crew has to and will always come first,” Swift wrote.  TAYLOR SWIFT ‘DEVASTATED’ AS FAN DIES BEFORE BRAZIL CONCERT Swift, 33, is scheduled to perform in São Paulo on Nov. 24-26, and rain is likely in the forecast for the remaining three shows of the year. She’ll pick up the tour with dates in Japan in 2024. Prior to canceling Saturday’s concert, Taylor admitted her heart was “shattered” upon hearing about the death of a fan who fainted at the stadium and later died at a local hospital. TAYLOR SWIFT POSTPONES BRAZIL CONCERT DUE TO ‘EXTREME TEMPERATURES’ A DAY AFTER FAN DIES AT SHOW “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” she wrote on Instagram before opening night.  “I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.” CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER Ana Clara Benevides Machado was later identified as the fan who died on Swift’s opening night of The Eras Tour. The 23-year-old fainted at the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium and later died. Her cause of death is currently unknown. Swift continued, “I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it.  “I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.” LIKE WHAT YOU’RE READING? CLICK HERE FOR MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS Following Machado’s death, Rio’s mayor, Eduardo Paes, Rio’s mayor, ordered actions against The Era’s Tour production.  “The loss of a young woman’s life yesterday at the show in Engenhão is unacceptable. Obviously, we are still finding out more details about the circumstances of what happened,” the mayor began on X, formerly known as Twitter. “In any case, I have already ordered the municipality’s Executive Chief of Operations to demand action with the production of the show.” Social media users shared videos of Swift singing “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” on Sunday from her “Midnights” album, with lyrics including, “Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, You were bigger than the whole sky. You were more than just a short time.” Fans have speculated Swift could return home for Thanksgiving to be with Travis Kelce, but it’s less likely that they’ll be together with his packed NFL schedule and her tour dates.

Netanyahu slams Palestinian Authority for denying that Hamas carried out massacre at Israeli music festival

Netanyahu slams Palestinian Authority for denying that Hamas carried out massacre at Israeli music festival

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday slammed the Palestinian Authority for denying that the terrorist group Hamas was responsible for the Oct. 7 massacre at a music festival in Israel that killed hundreds of attendees. The Sunday night address came in response to an official statement from the Palestinian Authority that blamed “Israeli helicopters” for the death of hundreds of participants of the Supernova music festival near kibbutz Re’im. The claim, echoed by Hamas, appeared to reference a report from Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, which said that an Israel Defense Forces helicopter had accidentally hit festival-goers while firing at terrorists. NSC LEADER CLAIMS US ‘CLOSER’ THAN EVER TO HOSTAGE DEAL DESPITE ONGOING HAMAS STANDOFF But the report, which cited senior Israeli security officials, did not say the helicopters were responsible for all deaths at the massacre. Fox News Digital has reached out to the reporter for comment. “Today, the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah said something utterly preposterous. It denied that it was Hamas that carried out the horrible massacre at the nature festival near Gaza. It actually accused Israel of carrying out that massacre. This is a complete reversal of truth,” Netanyahu said in a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter. Some 1,200 people were killed in Israel on the day of the surprise Hamas assault. Around 240 hostages were dragged into Gaza by Hamas and remain held there. Israel declared war in response, and more than 11,500 Palestinians have been killed in the past six weeks as the Israeli military conducts a punishing air and ground offensive in Gaza, where Hamas militants have ruled for the past 16 years. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Aaron Nola inks 7-year deal to stay with Phillies

Aaron Nola inks 7-year deal to stay with Phillies

Aaron Nola is staying with the Philadelphia Phillies for the foreseeable future. Nola and the Phillies agreed to a seven-year contract extension on Sunday, the team announced. The pitcher was one of the biggest names on the free-agent market but decided to stay with Philadelphia. His deal is reportedly worth $172 million. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM “At the outset of this offseason, we made signing Aaron our top priority,” Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said. “We are committed to winning, and having an individual like him in our uniform for years to come only helps us in that regard. FROM OUTKICK: SHOHEI OHTANI, CONFIRMED GOOD GUY, DONATES 60K BASEBALL GLOVES TO EVERY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN JAPAN “Aaron has proven to be one of the best and most durable pitchers in our game for a number of years now, and when considering his leadership abilities and his character, it was very important for us to keep him a part of the Phillies family.” Philadelphia selected Nola with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft. He made his debut with the Phillies in July 2015 and became one of the mainstays in the rotation. AARON JUDGE CREDITS FRESNO STATE FOR BIG LEAGUE SUCCESS DURING JERSEY RETIREMENT CEREMONY He had a 4.46 ERA in 32 appearances this season along with 202 strikeouts. It’s the third straight year he struck out at least 200 batters. He finished fourth in National League Cy Young Award voting in 2022. Now that Nola is locked up, it leaves only a few big-name pitchers on the market. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Sonny Gray, Jordan Montgomery and Eduardo Rodriguez are among those set to earn big deals. Shohei Ohtani is also on the market, but he will likely be relegated to hitting only in 2024 due to an arm injury. The Associated Press contributed to this report. ‘Shock therapy’ libertarian candidate Javier Milei, who ran as outsider, wins Argentine presidential election

‘Shock therapy’ libertarian candidate Javier Milei, who ran as outsider, wins Argentine presidential election

Argentinians have elected as their next president Javier Milei, a self-described anarcho-capitalist whose sensational rhetoric has drawn comparisons to former U.S. President Donald Trump.  Partial election results showed Milei had 55.8% and Massa 44.2%, with 95% of the votes tallies. Should that margin hold, it would be wider than predicted by all polls and the widest since Argentina’s return to democracy in 1983. On the campaign trail, Milei, with his wild hair and inflammatory rhetoric, pledged economic shock therapy and to slash the size of the state. He’s also indicated he would move the Argentine embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem – paralleling another move by the Trump administration. Milei’s victory comes amid a nationwide wave of deep discontent and rising poverty. His opponent, Economy Minister Sergio Massa of the Peronist party, conceded defeat and congratulated Milei. Argentine has been dealing with crippling inflation – above 140% – and poverty has worsened while Massa Massa’s campaign cautioned Argentinians that his libertarian opponent’s plan to eliminate key ministries and otherwise sharply curtail the state would threaten public services, including health and education, and welfare programs many rely on. Massa also drew attention to his opponent’s often aggressive rhetoric and openly questioned his mental acuity. PINK FLOYD’S ROGER WATERS DENIED HOTEL RESERVATIONS IN SOUTH AMERICA AFTER ANTISEMITISM ACCUSATIONS Milei accused Massa and his allies of running a “campaign of fear” and he walked back some of his most controversial proposals, such as loosening gun control. In his final campaign ad, Milei looks at the camera and assures voters he has no plans to privatize education or health care. Milei’s rhetoric resonated widely with Argentines angered by their struggle to make ends meet. The election forced many to decide which of the two they considered to be the least bad choice. Underscoring the bitter division this campaign has brought to the fore, Milei received both jeers and cheers on Friday night at the legendary Colón Theater in Buenos Aires. “We’re starting a new chapter in Argentina,” Massa told journalists Sunday after casting his ballot. “This chapter requires not only goodwill, intelligence and capability but above all, dialogue and the necessary consensus for our homeland to traverse a much more virtuous path in the future.” The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.

49ers take down Buccaneers as Christian McCaffrey finds the end zone once more

49ers take down Buccaneers as Christian McCaffrey finds the end zone once more

Brock Purdy threw a 76-yard strike to Brandon Aiyuk for one of his three touchdown passes, and the San Francisco 49ers beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27-14 on Sunday. Purdy also threw a 4-yard TD pass to Christian McCaffrey and a three-yarder to George Kittle to help the 49ers (7-3) post a second straight lopsided win following a three-game losing streak. Baker Mayfield threw a TD pass for Tampa Bay (4-6), but the Bucs had no answers defensively against Purdy and the 49ers and lost for the fifth time in six games. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Purdy finished 21 for 25 for 333 yards and became the first Niners quarterback ever to post a perfect passer rating in a game with at least 20 attempts. For the second straight week, the 49ers broke the game open with a big pass play from Purdy on the opening drive of the second half. He connected on a 66-yarder to Kittle on the second play of the third quarter last week to help fuel a 34-3 win at Jacksonville and then topped that this week. 49ERS’ CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY JOKES ABOUT MISSING OUT ON NFL RECORD: ‘YEAH, I SUCK’ The Niners forced a punt by the Bucs on the opening drive of the third quarter and were backed up to their own 2 following a perfectly placed punt by Jake Camarda. A short run by McCaffrey and a 21-yard pass to Kittle moved the ball out to the 24 and Purdy struck from there. He lofted a deep throw down the sideline to Aiyuk, who beat Jamel Dean for the catch and ran it in from there for the score that made it 20-6. Purdy then led another scoring drive on the next possession capped by the pass to Kittle to make it a 21-point lead. The Niners held on from there, thanks in part to rookie Ji’Ayir Brown breaking up a fourth-down pass in the end zone and intercepting another throw to the end zone on back-to-back drives in the fourth quarter. BAKER VS. BOSA The rivalry between Mayfield and Niners edge rusher Nick Bosa that dates back to college when Mayfield planted a flag at midfield at Ohio State following an Oklahoma win had some new developments. Mayfield raised his arms triumphantly after blocking Bosa on a 6-yard end-around run by Trey Palmer. But Bosa got revenge on the next official play when he combined with Fred Warner on a sack of Mayfield that led to a lost fumble. INJURIES Buccaneers: Dean (foot, ankle) left the game in the third quarter after the TD by Aiyuk and didn’t return. … CB Carlton Davis (hip) and LB Lavonte David (groin) also left in the second half and didn’t return. 49ers: S Talanoa Hufanga injured a knee in the second half and didn’t return. He was taken to the locker room on a cart. UP NEXT Buccaneers: Visit Indianapolis on Sunday. 49ers: Visit Seattle on Thursday night.

Packers lineman takes issue with ‘terrible’ play in college football: ‘It’s tough to watch’

Packers lineman takes issue with 'terrible' play in college football: 'It’s tough to watch'

Put Green Bay Packers offensive lineman David Bakhtiari in the group that isn’t a fan of college football’s product right now. The two-time All-Pro, who attended Colorado before turning pro in 2013, took issue with what he was watching in the sport on Saturday and expressed it in a post on X, formerly Twitter. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM “Ima keep it real with y’all…I am NOT a fan of watching college football. It’s tough to watch,” he wrote. Bakhtiari’s take became a hot-button topic on X, and he replied to a few people who asked him about his take or criticized him for it. FROM OUTKICK: JOE BURROW DONE FOR SEASON AS AFC NORTH LOSES SECOND STARTING QUARTERBACK THIS WEEK “Sloppy play all over the field. Poor execution. It’s like ‘nails on a chalk board’ for my eyes when I watch it. There (sic) not all bad,” he wrote in response to a question about why he thinks college football is hard to watch. “But I’d say there’s a handful of college games I’ve actually enjoyed watching each year. Everything else is….terrible.” COWBOYS’ DARON BLAND TIES NFL RECORD WITH ANOTHER PICK 6 IN WIN OVER PANTHERS Former NFL linebacker Will Compton also took issue with Bakhtiari’s remark, saying on X, “Looks like he played college football since he’s wearing an NFL jersey and I’d bet a billion dollars he never had a winning season wherever he played with a tweet like this.” “Some people just like inferior products. College football is an inferior product,” Bakhtiari said in response. “A lot of people have a tough time accepting this. And would rather fight and hide in places that make them feel comfortable and shared by the majority. You’ll wake up someday @_willcompton.” It wasn’t clear if there was a specific game Bakhtiari was watching that sparked his social media remark. California ‘manny’ gets life in prison for molesting 16 boys, one as young as 2

California ‘manny’ gets life in prison for molesting 16 boys, one as young as 2

A self-proclaimed “manny” who served as a male nanny for families in Southern California will spend the rest of his life behind bars for sexually assaulting 16 boys in his care, according to a release from the district attorney’s office.  Matthew Antonio Zakrzewski, 34, of Costa Mesa, was sentenced Friday to 705 years to life plus two years and eight months for the sexual assaults and showing pornography to another young boy he intended to sexually assault.  Zakrzewski filmed many of these sexual assaults, the district attorney’s office said. The boys’ ages ranged between two and 12 years old. The crimes were committed between 2014 and 2019.  Laguna Beach police arrested Zakrzewski on May 17, 2019, at a local airport after he deplaned an international flight.  After criminal charges were filed, authorities appealed to the public for help in locating other potential victims. Video evidence and tips from the public helped investigators identify additional victims and file additional charges against Zakrzewski.  SEX-CRAZED PRISON GUARDS HELD JACUZZI ORGIES; 1 REFUSED TO WORK BEFORE INTERCOURSE: REPORT Zakrzewski had dubbed himself “the original Sitter Buddy” on the namesake website he helped create. The website offered to connect parents in Orange County with prospective caregivers. Zakrzewski characterized himself as a “manny” who offered mentorships, big brother relationships and overnight and vacation babysitting.  He also specified that he was skilled with children with special needs and behavioral problems.  “At a very early age, I discovered what a joy it was to work with children and be a positive impact in their lives through the ‘Buddy Program’ at my middle school,” read his profile, which has since been taken down from the site. “Now, I’m a career manny and my 6+ years childcare experience spans from ages 3 months to 14, including special needs… I think the reason I connect easily with kids is because I am not just there to supervise, I participate.” A jury convicted Zakrzewski on 34 felonies.  “This is a case of shattered innocence and precious childhoods that were robbed from 17 little boys. These children will never know the people they were truly intended to be – because their childhoods were suddenly and inexplicably interrupted not by a wolf at the door, but by a predator masquerading as godsend,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement.  Fox News Digital’s Christina Coulter contributed to this report.

Tommy DeVito picks up first career win as Giants’ defense picks off Sam Howell 3 times

Tommy DeVito picks up first career win as Giants' defense picks off Sam Howell 3 times

Sam Howell threw three interceptions among six Commanders turnovers, and Washington may have reached the low point of Ron Rivera’s tenure with a 31-19 home loss Sunday to the last-place New York Giants. The Commanders (4-7) lost to the Giants (3-8) for the second time this season, this time to undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito, who picked up his first NFL win in his second start. Washington has lost seven of nine since opening with back-to-back victories, falling out of the playoff race despite a mediocre field of teams competing for three NFC wild-card spots. After a late comeback bid was ended by Isaiah Simmons picking off Howell and returning it 54 yards for a touchdown with 16 seconds left, Rivera’s future, and that of the entire coaching staff and front office, is now squarely in the forefront in the first season since Josh Harris’ ownership group bought the team. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Favored by more than a touchdown, the Commanders fumbled in nearly every possible way: Logan Thomas after a catch, Byron Pringle on a kickoff return and Chris Rodriguez Jr. on a run. Inexplicable picks by Howell — lauded by players and coaches in recent weeks as the franchise’s potential QB of the future — came in the first and fourth quarters. The giveaways made it impossible for Washington to get back into the game against New York, which scored a first-quarter TD for the first time all season. The Giants never trailed and won for the first time since Oct. 22, when they beat the Commanders 14-7 at the Meadowlands. Down the East Coast, the result was the same even with DeVito stepping in for injured backup Tyrod Taylor. The 25-year-old third-stringer who still lives with his family in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, completed 18 of 26 passes for 246 yards and three TD passes: two to Saquon Barkley and one to Darius Slayton. AARON RODGERS’ RETURN DATE FOR JETS ‘MOST LIKELY’ COMING IN WEEK 16: REPORT The Giants dominated despite allowing DeVito to be sacked nine times and rushing for zero yards as a team in the first half. The defense stepped up, with Nick McLeod forcing a fumble and making his first interception among the big plays by the unit. Howell was also sacked four times in a back-to-earth game for the second-year pro who entered with the most passing yards in the league. He threw a late 8-yard TD pass to Jahan Dotson and led another drive to the New York 48 before his third interception sealed it. EJECTIONS Commanders safety Xavier McKinney shoved Howell out of bounds after officials had signaled a touchdown on his run in the second quarter. That set off a melee in the corner, leading to the ejections of Cor’Dale Flott and Commanders receiver Curtis Samuel. INJURIES Giants: Slayton was ruled out early in the second half with a right arm injury. … OT Evan Neal (ankle) and CB Adoree Jackson (concussion) were out for a second consecutive week. Commanders: DE Efe Obada was carted off with a right leg injury six plays in. … RB Antonio Gibson was inactive because of a toe injury. DE James Smith Williams and FB Alex Armah were out because of hamstring injuries. UP NEXT Giants: Host the New England Patriots next Sunday. Commanders: Visit Dallas on Thursday for the Cowboys’ annual Thanksgiving Day home game.

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter dead at 96

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter dead at 96

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter died with her family by her side at her home in Plains, Georgia on Sunday, according to a statement by The Carter Center. She was 96. The wife of the 39th President of the United States died after she was admitted to hospice care on Friday.  “Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” President Carter said. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”  She is survived by her husband, her four children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. ROSALYNN CARTER CELEBRATES 96TH BIRTHDAY WITH HUSBAND JIMMY CARTER, PEANUT BUTTER ICE CREAM AND BUTTERFLIES Born Eleanor Rosalynn Smith on Aug. 18, 1927, in Plains, Georgia, she was the oldest of four children in the family of Allethea Murray Smith and Wilburn Edgar Smith.  When she was 13, her father died and her mother became a dressmaker to help support her family. Carter worked alongside her mother and helped take care of her young siblings.  After completing high school, she enrolled in Georgia Southwestern College at Americus. In 1945, after her freshman year, she first dated Jimmy Carter, who was home from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.  “She’s the girl I want to marry,” President Carter reportedly told his mother after his first date with Rosalynn Smith, who had grown up as a friend and neighbor of the Carter family in Plains.  The couple married in July 1946.  JIMMY CARTER HAD ONE OF THE ‘GREATEST SECOND ACTS’ IN AMERICAN HISTORY, CONSERVATIVE HISTORIAN SAYS A biography of Carter credited to the White House Historical Association describes her “quiet, friendly manner” which made her “an effective campaigner” for her husband. As first lady of Georgia and later the United States, Carter worked tirelessly to create what she called “a more caring society,” a biography by The Carter Center, a nonprofit she and Jimmy Carter co-founded in 1982, notes. JIMMY CARTER, LONGEST LIVING US PRESIDENT, TURNS 99 “An activist first lady with her own bold agenda, she created a distinct East Wing office from which she set about helping disadvantaged people. Her efforts challenged age discrimination for older adults, encouraged opportunities for people with developmental disabilities, and advanced women’s equality,” the Center states. “Above all, she devoted herself to improving treatment and services for those coping with mental health conditions, a cause she adopted when her husband was governor and that remained her priority for the rest of her life,” the Center says. Her family announced that Carter was diagnosed with dementia in May 2023. She spent her final days with her husband and family.

Patrick Mahomes approves of Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift: ‘It’s not become a distraction’

Patrick Mahomes approves of Travis Kelce's relationship with Taylor Swift: 'It's not become a distraction'

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave his opinion on favorite target Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift, and he admits the added attention hasn’t become a distraction in the locker room. With Swift attending Chiefs games this season, creating a massive influx of attention, every Kansas City game feels like the Super Bowl. But Mahomes doesn’t view things that way. “I don’t think it feels any different,” he told ESPN. “People see the whole Taylor Swift and Travis [relationship], and they make it a huge deal because it is a huge deal. I think it becomes a bigger deal to the fan bases than it does to the guys that are actually in the building.” CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Mahomes, who called Kelce his “brother” in the segment while explaining how close his family is to the Kelces now, has gotten the chance to get to know Swift. “I’ve been lucky enough to meet Taylor and see how good of a person she is,” Mahomes said. “I think you can understand why it’s not become a distraction or anything like that because everybody cares about being the best they can be every day.” TRAVIS KELCE ISSUES APOLOGY TO TAYLOR SWIFT’S DAD SCOTT AFTER CONCERT FLUB The Chiefs are coming off their bye week during which Kelce took the trip to Argentina to see Swift open her international dates on her Eras Tour in Buenos Aires. Swift and Kelce went viral as the former ran up to the latter after her concert and shared a kiss before walking offstage. But now it’s back to football as the Chiefs enter a Super Bowl rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles in Kansas City on Monday night. Kelce will face his older brother, Jason Kelce, as these two teams are once again primed to make playoff runs toward another hopeful Super Bowl. Mahomes discussed what this matchup means for them coming off the bye. “Playing on Monday night, it’s going to be about as close to a Super Bowl-type feel that you can have playing against another great team that we just played in the Super Bowl last year,” he said. “We get to see where we’re at as an offense, as a defense and as an entire team. The biggest thing is you get to see how guys respond under the lights. I think that’s what gets you ready for playoffs and Super Bowl games.” There was hope that Swift would be present for this game at GEHA Field, but her postponed concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Saturday is this Monday. Still, “Swifties” have gravitated to Kelce and the Chiefs this season, joining a rabid Kansas City fan base that is looking to move to 8-2 on the year with a win.

DeSantis says Trump is ‘high risk,’ ‘low reward’ GOP presidential nominee

DeSantis says Trump is ‘high risk,’ ‘low reward’ GOP presidential nominee

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said former President Donald Trump would be a risky 2024 GOP nominee, saying he has a “small” chance of beating President Biden, and would have a tough time attracting the necessary talent to “get the job done” should he win. DeSantis, who is locked in a heated battle for second place in the Republican primary race with former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, was asked about his thoughts on the frontrunner Trump on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Donald Trump is a high-risk proposition as a nominee because I think the chance of him getting elected is small, but it’s a low reward because he’s going to be a lame duck on day one – that even if he could get elected, he would not be able to attract the type of talent to work in his administration and he’d be saddled with all these distractions that it’d be virtually impossible to get the job done,” DeSantis said. DeSantis also likened Trump to Biden in terms of age, saying the position of commander in chief is “not a job for an 80-year-old.”  STATE OF THE RACE: GAME ON IN IOWA AS HALEY BATTLES DESANTIS FOR SECOND PLACE BEHIND TRUMP Biden, 80, is roughly three and a half years older than Trump, 77. Should Trump win the presidency, he will be 79 years old when taking office. DeSantis is 44. “Father time is undefeated,” the governor said. “Donald Trump is not exempt from any of that. I think with somebody like me, you go in, you know, I’m in the prime of my life. I go in day one, I’ll serve two terms, deliver big results and get the country moving again. That’s what Republican voters want to see.” HALEY RISES BUT TRUMP REMAINS DOMINANT IN EARLY GOP PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY STATE: POLL DeSantis claimed that the Trump running today “not the same guy” who would “barnstorm” debate stages in 2016 and was “really going to shake things up.” Now Trump is “wedded to the teleprompter,” unwilling to debate and is running on many of the same issues he failed to deliver on in 2016, the governor said, citing the construction of the border wall and “draining the swamp” in Washington, D.C., among the former president’s failures.  Meanwhile, Trump continued to attack both DeSantis and Haley during his appearance Saturday in Iowa, urging those in attendance to turn out on caucus day to “make sure we have a big victory” that would signal to other candidates that they should drop out. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

United Nations slammed for silence over Hamas rapes, mutilation and murder of Israeli women, critics say

United Nations slammed for silence over Hamas rapes, mutilation and murder of Israeli women, critics say

JERUSALEM – Women’s rights groups and officials in Israel who have been working tirelessly for the past six weeks to document cases of rape and gender-based atrocities carried out by Hamas terrorists during their mass, brutal terror attack in Israel on Oct. 7., say the United Nations is ignoring them.  They have also shared much of this evidence, some of it horrifyingly graphic and all of it extremely intimate, with the United Nations and groups that protect and empower women.  The response: Silence.  “We’ve sent letters and shared graphic documentation,” Sarah Weiss Maudi, a senior diplomat and legal adviser in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Fox News Digital. “Their silence is so deafening that it’s sickening.” ISRAELI POLICE SAY EXTREME SEXUAL VIOLENCE, RAPE BY HAMAS TERRORISTS WAS SYSTEMATIC Weiss Maudi, who last year became the first Israeli representative to serve as a senior adviser to the president of the 77th Session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, said that U.N. bodies, particularly U.N. Women, whose specific mandate is to champion the rights of women regardless of race or ethnicity, have simply refused to acknowledge that atrocities were committed against Israeli women – and young girls – despite much of it filmed by Hamas, and other Palestinian terrorists from Gaza, themselves. More than 1,200 people were killed in the mass terror attack, which took place in more than 20 Israeli communities, army bases, and a mass music festival. A further 240 individuals, including women and young children, were kidnapped back to Gaza. While no victims of sexual crimes have yet to come forward directly – mainly because they were murdered, kidnapped, or are still reeling from the trauma, the Israel Police said last week that it had collected some 60,000 videos, including footage from the terrorists, victims, first responders, and CCTV, showing these gruesome crimes. Some disturbing eyewitness testimonies of gang rapes and other sexual acts have also been documented, the police said.  “What I don’t understand is that we provided very graphic and descriptive evidence of rapes, including gang rapes and the remains of semen on young girls, it was not good enough for the U.N.,” said Weiss Maudi. “Yet data provided by the Hamas Ministry of Health is accepted and quoted without any verification at all.”  On the U.N. Women’s website, the only reference to Israel since the Oct. 7 massacre deals with the “devastating impact of the crisis in Gaza on women and girls,” where Hamas’ Ministry of Health estimates that more than 11,200 people have been killed, of whom some 4,506 are said to be children and 3,027 women. U.N. Women also details a two-day trip to Egypt by its executive director, Sima Bahous, where she called for “immediate and unhindered humanitarian access,” to Gaza. AT THE ARMY BASE WHERE ISRAEL IDENTIFIES ITS DEAD: ‘THEY WENT FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE BURNING FAMILY AFTER FAMILY’ “Some of them deny because they think Israelis fabricate lies,” said Weiss Maudi. “Others can only see these events in the context of the ‘occupation’ and they say ‘This is unfortunate but what did you expect was going to happen?’” While referencing the Oct. 7 attack at a meeting of the U.N. Security Council on Oct. 24, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said: “It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum.” After an uproar and calls for his resignation, he complained to the media that his comments had been “distorted.”  “I think many believe that Israeli women had this coming to them because they are seen as privileged women living good lives in southern Israel, while the Israeli military is flattening Gaza,” Weiss Maudi said, adding that many top international officials refuse to devote their energy to the Israeli female victims because they believe “the Jewish lobby” is supporting them and also “why would they tell the story of a few rapes when they want to look at the bigger picture of what is happening now in Gaza?” Anne Bayefsky, director of Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, who has followed U.N. Women closely, said it was more than that, however.  “The fact is that U.N. Women is a phony human rights body, for which Jewish women and girls don’t count,” she said, adding that the organization “is so twisted that it blames Israel for the violence of Palestinian men against Palestinian women, claiming that ‘structural gender discrimination… in Palestine’ means the war ‘increase[s] women’s risks to gender-based violence and food insecurity.’” UN OFFICIAL CAUSES UPROAR OVER CLAIM THAT ISRAEL DOESN’T HAVE RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF AGAINST HAMAS TERRORISTS Bayevsky added that U.N. officials, including its special rapporteur for the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, have not only ignored that rape and gender-based crimes took place against Jewish and Israeli women on Oct. 7, but have even actively questioned whether such acts took place.  “U.N. Women have been blasting around blood libels, including demonic characterizations of Israelis, whom they allege are responsible for the war’s devastating impact on Palestinian women and girls, including pregnant Palestinians,” she said. “Yet on the issue of a pregnant Israeli woman whose body was slashed open and her fetus stabbed to death, or the pregnant woman believed to have given birth in Hamas captivity, they are silent.” Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy, chair of Israel’s newly formed Civil Commission on October 7th Crimes by Hamas Against Women, said the reaction of international women’s organizations was “deeply surprising and feels like a betrayal.”  “Instead of taking care of ourselves and focusing on helping our victims and survivors, we are busy fighting these reactions and trying to prove that there were numerous cases of rape or women killed, their bodies mutilated, in the most horrible of ways,” she said, adding, “Gender-based violence is more than just sexual violence.”  Elkayam-Levy, also a legal expert at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, told Fox News Digital, “We have been struggling for weeks to get any recognition. Not only are they not responding or condemning what happened, they are now asking for us to provide more proof for the allegations.”  FOREIGN SURVIVORS OF BRUTAL HAMAS ATTACK ON ISRAEL RECALL TERROR MASSACRE : ‘EVERYTHING WAS BURNING’ She recounted how the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), a branch of U.N. Women tasked with “eliminating discrimination against women and girls in all areas,” requested she prove to the committee that such atrocities took place.  “Never in my life would I imagine that I would be standing in front of this distinguished committee to talk about gender-based war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against Israeli women and girls,” Elkayam-Levy told CEDAW representatives on Oct. 30, according to testimony shared with Fox News Digital.  As she described to them video footage and other images of women brutalized by Hamas terrorists, Elkayam-Levy said: “I pray that none of you, the committee’s distinguished members, will ever have to see the images I’ve seen.” “Hamas might be now denying these war crimes, but during the attack and immediately after Hamas and its terrorists released horrific visuals of its brutal crimes, including hideous acts of torture, rape, abuse and murder of innocent women and girls, as trophies of war and killings in the most inhumane ways possible,” she said.  “But it is not only Hamas that is denying these hideous crimes – we as Israeli women feel we are all subject of a collective international denial,” Elkayam-Levy added. “The evidence is undeniable. Yet, we find ourselves fighting a dual battle: one against these atrocities and another against global silence.”  In addition, Elkayam-Levy said the refusal of international organizations to acknowledge such acts were committed against Israeli women is “having a terrible influence on other women’s rights organizations around the world, who are failing to understand what happened and even denying it took place.”  She gave the example of a center for sexual assault at the University of Alberta, Canada, where the director signed an open letter disputing that women were raped and sexually assaulted by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7. A statement released by the University of Alberta on Saturday said the director of the Sexual Assault Centre was no longer employed by the university, effective immediately. In response to a request from Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for U.N. Women said the organization “unequivocally condemns all forms of violence against women and girls, as well as any use of sexual violence as a weapon of war, which is a grave violation of human rights. It is never acceptable. International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law must be respected and upheld at all times.” The spokesperson said Bahous had spoken about the issue at the Security Council’s Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security on Oct. 25, saying, “Every act of violence against women and girls, including sexual violence, is unequivocally condemned, irrespective of the nationality, identity, race or religion of the victims.” The organization said an independent commission of inquiry had already started “collecting and preserving evidence of war crimes committed by all sides since 7 October 2023, when Hamas launched a complex attack on Israel and Israeli forces responded with airstrikes in Gaza.”

Voting begins in Argentina’s presidential runoff, may send Trump-admiring populist Milei into presidency

Voting begins in Argentina’s presidential runoff, may send Trump-admiring populist Milei into presidency

Voters in Argentina were heading to the polls Sunday in a presidential runoff election that will determine whether South America’s second-largest economy will take a rightward shift. Populist Javier Milei, an upstart candidate who got his start as a television talking head, has frequently been compared to former U.S. President Donald Trump. He faces Economy Minister Sergio Massa of the Peronist party, which has been a leading force in Argentine politics for decades. On Massa’s watch, inflation has soared to more than 140% and poverty has increased. Milei, a self-described anarcho-capitalist, proposes to slash the size of the state and rein in inflation, while Massa has warned people about the negative impacts of such policies. The highly polarizing election is forcing many to decide which of the two they consider to be the least bad option. ARGENTINA’S JAVIER MILEI COPIES TRUMP’S PLAYBOOK TO BECOME COUNTRY’S BIGGEST PRIMARY ELECTION VOTE-GETTER “Whatever happens in this election will be incredible,” said Lucas Romero, director of local political consultancy Synopsis. “It would be incredible for Massa to win in this economic context or for Milei to win facing a candidate as professional as Massa.” Voting stations opened at 8 a.m. (1100 GMT) and close 10 hours later. Voting is conducted with paper ballots, making the count unpredictable, but initial results were expected around three hours after polls close. Milei went from blasting the country’s “political caste” on TV to winning a lawmaker seat two years ago. The economist’s screeds resonated widely with Argentines angered by their struggle to make ends meet, particularly young men. “Money covers less and less each day. I’m a qualified individual, and my salary isn’t enough for anything,” Esteban Medina, a 26-year-old physical therapist from Ezeiza, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, told The Associated Press on the sidelines of a Milei rally earlier this week. Massa, as one of the most prominent figures in a deeply unpopular administration, was once seen as having little chance of victory. But he managed to mobilize the networks of his Peronist party and clinched a decisive first-place finish in the first round of voting. His campaign has cautioned Argentines that his libertarian opponent’s plan to eliminate key ministries and otherwise sharply curtail the state would threaten public services, including health and education, and welfare programs many rely on. Massa has also drawn attention to his opponent’s often aggressive rhetoric and has openly questioned his mental acuity; ahead of the first round, Milei sometimes carried a revving chainsaw at rallies. FORMER ROCKER NICKNAMED ‘ARGENTINE TRUMP’ GAINS ELECTION STEAM WITH ANTI-SOCIALIST MESSAGE Massa’s “only chance to win this election when people want change … is to make this election a referendum on whether Milei is fit to be president or not,” said Ana Iparraguirre, partner at pollster GBAO Strategies. Milei has accused Massa and his allies of running a “campaign of fear” and he has walked back some of his most controversial proposals, such as loosening gun control. In his final campaign ad, Milei looks at the camera and assures voters he has no plans to privatize education or health care. Most pre-election polls, which have been notoriously wrong at every step of this year’s campaign, show a statistical tie between the two candidates. Voters for first-round candidates who didn’t make the runoff will be key. Patricia Bullrich, who placed third, has endorsed Milei. Javier Rojas, a 36-year-old pediatrician who voted for Bullrich in October, told The Associated Press he’s leaning toward Milei, then added: “Well, to be honest, it’s more of a vote against the other side than anything else.” Underscoring the bitter division this campaign has brought to the fore, Milei received both jeers and cheers on Friday night at the legendary Colón Theater in Buenos Aires. The vote takes place amid Milei’s allegations of possible electoral fraud, reminiscent of those from Trump and former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Without providing evidence, Milei claimed that the first round of the presidential election was plagued by irregularities that affected the result. Experts say such irregularities cannot swing an election, and that his assertions are partly aimed at firing up his base and motivating his supporters to become monitors of voting stations. Such claims spread widely on social media and, at Milei’s rally in Ezeiza earlier this week, all those interviewed told the AP they were concerned about the integrity of the vote. “You don’t need to show statistically significant errors,” Fernanda Buril, of the Washington-based International Foundation for Electoral Systems, said in an e-mail. “If you draw enough attention to one problem in one polling station which likely doesn’t affect the results in any meaningful way, people are likely to overestimate the frequency and impact of that and other problems in the elections more generally.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had many high-profile relationships, from Cassie and Jennifer Lopez to the late Kim Porter

Sean 'Diddy' Combs had many high-profile relationships, from Cassie and Jennifer Lopez to the late Kim Porter

Although Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and his ex-girlfriend Cassie reached a quick settlement agreement after the “Me And U” singer accused the media mogul of abuse, his lawyer Benjamin Brafman is adamant that this is not an “admission of wrongdoing.” “Just so we’re clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing,” he shared in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Mr. Combs‘ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.” Although his relationship with Cassie lasted nearly a decade, the rapper has had several additional high-profile relationships. SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS SETTLES LAWSUIT ONE DAY AFTER EX-GIRLFRIEND CASSIE’S ALLEGATIONS OF YEARS OF RAPE We’re taking a look at several of Combs’ other relationships, including those with Jennifer Lopez and the mother of three of his seven children, Kim Porter.  The first of four women Combs would have children with, fashion designer Misa Hylton, started dating the rapper in the 1990s, welcoming their son Justin in 1993. They split soon after and maintained a favorable relationship, until 2023, when Justin was charged with a DUI. In since-expired Instagram stories, Hylton wrote. “I’m not protecting no one anymore, just my son.” “The statement ‘a fish rots from the head down’ means that, in addition to being a major contributing [factor] in a family or organization’s success, leadership is also the root cause of its failure and demise,” she added. Hylton and Combs have had positive interactions on social media since. LIKE WHAT YOU’RE READING? The couple welcomed their first child together, son Christian, in 1998. They eventually split and continued to have an on-off relationship.  Porter became pregnant with the couple’s twin daughters in 2006, but found out that Combs had fathered another child with his friend Sarah Chapman while he was with her. In an interview given to Essence magazine in 2007, Porter explained that Puff’s cheating was not the only thing that destroyed their relationship.  “He’s not the first man who’s cheated,” she said. “He’s not the first man who’s had a baby outside of his relationship. He’s not the originator of this. But at this point in my life – I have girls now – it’s a different program.” “I would have preferred to find out from him because that’s a man,” she said of learning about his fling with Chapman through her own friend. “I know it’s hard for anyone to say to their significant other, ‘I’ve gotten into some s— and I got a baby on the way.’ But men do get caught up in things; I’m not naive to that. Still, there’s a right and a wrong way to handle it. Because, most of all, we were friends. Even if I couldn’t have understood it as a woman, I would have understood it as a friend.” Even after the infidelity, Porter remained friends with Diddy. She unexpectedly passed away in 2018 from lobar pneumonia, devastating Combs and his children. During one of his breaks with Porter, Combs started his relationship with Jennifer Lopez. He and the singer dated from 1999 until 2001, but ultimately split due to his infidelity. They have remained friendly throughout the years, often posing for photos together at mutual events and speaking highly of one another.  While dating Lopez, Diddy was acquitted on charges of bribery and illegal weapons. The case surrounded an incident at a nightclub where both Combs and Lopez were present. JENNIFER LOPEZ DANCES WITH EX-BOFYRIEND SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS FOR CORONAVIRUS FUNDRAISER The third woman Diddy welcomed a child with was Chapman, his longtime friend. The two never dated, welcoming their daughter Chance while the rapper was in a relationship with Porter. As of September 2023, the two remained close, with Combs posting a birthday tribute to Chapman on Instagram. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER After ‘Puff’ and Porter were finally finished in 2007, the “Last Night” singer began his relationship with Cassie, who was signed to his label Bad Boy Records. The two had a tumultuous relationship, going their separate ways in 2018.  Last week Cassie, whose legal name is Cassandra Ventura, filed a lawsuit against Diddy, claiming that the rapper had abused and raped her over the course of their complicated relationship. Per the suit, Cassie and Combs met when she was 19 and he was 37, but did not begin a romantic relationship until years later.  The suit detailed Combs’ alleged “uncontrollable rage,” and how he allegedly beat his girlfriend on multiple occasions. At the time of the filing, his lawyer issued a statement saying in part, “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations. Ms. Ventura’s demand of $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, was unequivocally rejected as blatant blackmail. Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’ reputation, and seeking a pay day.” The lawsuit was settled a day after it was filed, with Cassie sharing, “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support.”  Douglas Wigdor, counsel for Cassie, shared, “I am very proud of Ms. Ventura for having the strength to go public with her lawsuit. She ought to be commended for doing so.” Combs added, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.” Diddy and rapper Yung Miami sparked dating rumors in 2021, but confirmed the status of their relationship in 2022 when Combs appeared on her podcast. The duo said they were dating and enjoying their time together, which included vacations.  She later elaborated on the relationship, telling XXL Magazine, “We are dating. We single, but we’re dating. People don’t know what dating means. He’s single, I’m single, but we’re dating. That’s what I mean when I say we go together. When we’re together, we’re together. We’re having the time of our lives, but we’re still single.” They also attended the 2023 Met Gala together. Dana Tran is the most recent woman with whom Diddy welcomed a child. Combs surprised the world in October 2022 when he announced the arrival of his seventh child, daughter Love. Diddy has not disclosed the nature of his relationship with Tran, although they both operate a joint Instagram account for their daughter.

Macron’s wife admits ‘head was a mess’ when she dated her high school aged ex-pupil

Macron’s wife admits ‘head was a mess’ when she dated her high school aged ex-pupil

French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife Brigitte Macron revealed her relationship anxieties from the early days of dating the future French leader – including concerns he would “fall in love with someone his age” after moving schools.  “My head was in a mess,” Brigitte Macron said during a rare interview, given to the outlet Paris Match, and reported in the Daily Telegraph. “For me, such a young boy was crippling.” “Emmanuel had to leave for Paris,” Macron revealed. “I told myself that he would fall in love with someone his [own] age. It didn’t happen.” The couple’s age difference – she, 70, and he, 45 – has remained a hot topic for the couple: Macron addressed the difference during an interview in 2017 with Elle France, telling the outlet “there are times in your life where you need to make vital choices.”  FRENCH PRESIDENT SEEKS TO ENSHRINE ABORTION IN COUNTRY’S CONSTITUTION “Of course, we have breakfast together, me and my wrinkles, him with his youth, but it’s like that,” Macron told Elle at the time. “If I did not make that choice, I would have missed out on my life. I had a lot of happiness with my children and, at the same time, felt I had to live ‘this love’ as Prevert used to say, to be fully happy.” The couple met while Brigitte taught drama at the Catholic Providence school in Amiens. Her daughter was Emmanuel’s classmate.  The newest interview, translated and reported by the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph, reveals that Macron suffered significant anxiety over the age difference, which eventually caused a scandal when it came to light that she, a then-40-year-old teacher had engaged in a relationship with her 15-year-old pupil, Emmanuel.  EX-FINLAND PM WHO ENT VIRAL FOR RAUNCHY DANCE VIDEO MAKES FLASHY NEW CAREER MOVE The French age of consent is 15, which was not enforced except in cases of sexual violence until the country passed the age into law, according to Politico’s European outlet.  Emmanuel’s parents immediately decided to send him to a boarding school in Paris for the remainder of his studies, but that did not dissuade him from his relationship with Brigitte. After Emmanuel left for Paris, Brigitte stopped teaching drama and instead headed up Latin classes. She was married but estranged from her husband for years. She divorced him shortly before marrying Emmanuel.  ‘CATCH ME IF YOU CAN’-STYLE CONMAN EXPOSED AFTER DECADES OF BIZARRE LIES, SCAMS: REPORT She also worried about how the relationship with the teenager would affect her children, who are the same age as Emmanuel. Brigitte said she waited a decade before pulling the trigger to make sure that the couple’s marriage would not deeply upset the rest of her family.  “I took time so I would not wreck their lives,” Brigitte told Match. “That lasted 10 years, the time to put them on the rails. You can imagine what they were hearing. But I didn’t want to miss out on my life.” When the couple married in 2007, when Emmanuel was 29, he told his three stepchildren, “Thanks for accepting us, a not-quite-normal couple.”  He won election as president of France at the age of 39 – the youngest-ever president for the country and roughly the same age his wife was when they met, according to The Independent.
