American rapper Azealia Banks said she believes getting canceled makes you “cool” and expressed support for the Second Amendment during an interview with The Standard.  The 32-year-old, who has been known to make some controversial statements and at times has feuded with other celebrities, explained that as the new technocratic class takes over, and they accrue wreath, it serves as a stark contrast to “what that wealth will actually be worth in the event of a nuclear fallout, or a meteor hitting earth.” This, she argued, means “you absolutely need guns.” Banks moved from Los Anfeles to Miami in 2021 and said she feels “way safer” in a state where “everyone carries a gun.” Because of that, she said she will be voting for Trump in 2024. Judge Lina Hidalgo — a Democrat in Harris County, Texas, the third-largest county in the U.S. — is no longer denying she used encrypted messaging apps to conduct county business, despite being called out for doing so for multi-million-dollar contracts in 2021. FOX 26 Houston reported that last week, Texas Rangers were granted five additional search warrants to investigate bid-rigging in Harris County. In 2021, Hidalgo faced intense scrutiny over an $11 million vaccine outreach contract to Elevate Strategies, run by Felicity Pereyra, a Democratic political insider with ties to the county commissioners’ court. Pereyra also worked on Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Pereyra’s company was a one-woman operation until recently and had only existed for two years before being awarded the contract. LEADER OF TEXAS’ LARGEST COUNTY TAKES TEMPORARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE TO SEEK DEPRESSION TREATMENT Pereyra’s company was awarded the contract over UT Health, one of the city’s major hospitals, and the “deciders” for the contract all answered directly to Hidalgo without input from the commissioners’ panel. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg’s office subpoenaed Hidalgo regarding the contract, and when asked about the subpoena, an attorney for Hidalgo told local press, “We have always followed the law, and we continue to follow the law.” A mix of industry experts and county officials told FOX 26 that Elevate Strategies did not even meet the basic requirements to engage in an endeavor of this scope. Additionally, the experts and officials said that there was no way that Elevate Strategies could have met the strict financial requirements for bidding on county contracts. HIGH-PROFILE HOUSTON DEMOCRATS FACE CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS Harris County requires annual billing records dating back five years as well as an audited income statement and a qualifying balance sheet. But Elevate Strategies reportedly wasn’t required to provide financial statements during the bidding process. A spokesperson for Hidalgo previously told FOX 26 that Pereyra’s firm has worked with the county on projects before, including the most recent census. Hidalgo canceled the deal amid scrutiny, but thousands of dollars were still paid to Elevate Strategies by the county as the arrangement imploded. DETROIT-AREA MAYOR INDICTED BY FEDS ON BRIBERY CHARGE, WHO ALLEGE HE TOOK $50K IN PAYMENTS The warrants issued to Texas Rangers last week claim Hidalgo was communicating with her chief of staff on WhatsApp regarding county business, specifically, the multi-million-dollar COVID communication contract, which led to the criminal indictment of three of her top aides. In May 2022, Hidalgo denied using encrypted messaging apps to communicate for business. “Man. I have Slack, I have Signal, I have WhatsApp. I haven’t used them in years,” she said during a press conference. FOX 26 asked her if she wanted to avoid the potential she could be having government conversations in “basically a technological black box,” and she responded, “I told you. I don’t have governmental conversations on Signal.” NYC MAYOR ADAMS HIRES PRIVATE ATTORNEY AMID PROBE INTO TOP FUNDRAISER This week, the station reportedly reminded Hidalgo of what she said in 2022, pressing her to tell the truth. “We get these search warrants and there are multiple messages between you and your former chief of staff on WhatsApp. So, you want to walk that back? Did that happen,” a FOX 26 staffer asked. “The question was whether I conducted county business on the Signal app. I do not conduct County Business on the Signal app,” Hidalgo said. For clarity, the reporter asked Hidalgo if she conducted county business on WhatsApp and other encrypted apps, and was told by Hidalgo, “I already answered the question.” WhatsApp claims on its website that it offers “end-to-end encryption” for personal messages, adding that calls are secure. “Only you and the person you’re talking to can read or listen to them, not even WhatsApp,” the company claims on its site. By encrypting the messages, journalists and the public have little or no ability to review what should be public records concerning county business. Also, in Texas, the title of “county judge” is a misnomer. They are not judges in courtrooms but rather presiding officials in their counties who have a big say in spending and are in charge of local emergency response. Amtrak service north of New York City will be restored starting Thursday after it was disrupted for several days by structural issues with a parking garage over the tracks on Manhattan’s west side, the railroad announced Wednesday. Service between New York City and the Croton-Harmon station in Westchester County was halted Monday after cracks and deteriorated steel were discovered in the parking structure on West 51st Street that sits directly over Amtrak tracks. Officials with the city’s Department of Buildings said they worked with the parking structure’s owner, Lineage Ventures LLC, to develop a repair plan. NYC AMTRAK SERVICE DELAYED BY OVERHEAD PARKING GARAGE’S STRUCTURAL WOES Amtrak spokesperson Jason Abrams said railroad officials have been assured the repairs will be completed Wednesday night. Abrams said riders can expect minor delays until both tracks are restored on Saturday. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers who were inconvenienced by the structural issue at the non-Amtrak-owned parking garage,” he said. City officials beefed up the inspection of parking garages after a three-story parking structure in Lower Manhattan collapsed in April, killing one worker and injuring several others.

A new Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday showed President Biden’s approval rating sinking and support for former President Donald Trump rising as the 2024 election looms. According to the poll, American voters’ worsening views of Biden were driven by his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas, which has also given Trump his first lead in the poll since February. Just 37% of voters said they approved of Biden’s job performance, with 59% disapproving. The same number (37%) also said they viewed Biden favorably versus unfavorably (59%). CRITICS RIP NIKKI HALEY OVER VOW TO REQUIRE ALL SOCIAL MEDIA USERS BE VERIFIED: ‘BLATANTLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL’ Concerning the war, just 37% said they approved of Biden’s response while 54% said they disapproved. Those numbers have gotten dramatically worse for the president over the past two weeks, down from the 42% who said they approved and 46% who disapproved at the beginning of the month. Trump fared better than Biden in terms of favorability, with 42% holding a favorable view of the former president and 55% an unfavorable one. In a hypothetical 2024 matchup, Trump led Biden 48% to 46% – his first lead in Quinnipiac’s poll since February – although recent polls have still shown him within the margin of error behind Biden. A library in Missouri is celebrating the return of its oldest-ever overdue book — and thanks to its no-fine policy, the person who checked it out and who has now returned it does not owe a cent. “It’s never too late to come back to the library, especially now that we are fine-free,” the St. Charles City-County Library in St. Peters, Missouri, shared in a Nov. 8 Facebook post. “A customer returned this Sandra Boynton book to our WingHaven Branch today,” the post read — noting that the book was checked out back in 1993.  NEW YORK LIBRARY RECEIVES AN OVERDUE BOOK NEARLY 90 YEARS LATER And while library staff appeared to be glad the book had been returned, they were “even [happier] to welcome the customer back to the library,” according to the post. The book, “But Not the Hippopotamus,” by Sandra Boynton, was published in 1982. It’s recommended for children ages 1-3 years old, according to an Amazon listing. Boynton has “written and illustrated over 75 children’s books and seven general audience books,” according to her biography on book publisher Simon & Schuster’s website. Five of Boynton’s books have been New York Times bestsellers. She’s sold 85 million books. Facebook users reacted to the announcement of the book’s return, with some people tagging Boynton’s account. “And the kid [that] this was read to is all grown up now,” said one Facebook user.  LIBRARY RECEIVES OVERDUE BOOK FROM 47 YEARS AGO, ALONG WITH ANONYMOUS NOTE AND A SURPRISE “Must be a tough read. Congrats on finishing it!” another user joked. Another person was sympathetic to the person who returned the long-overdue book, saying, “Kids’ books like that always get lost in the weirdest places.”  A representative from the St. Charles City-County Library told Fox News Digital that the Boynton book is the oldest in “recent memory” that’s been returned to the library district. In addition to books, the St. Charles City-County Library also lends out DVDs, CDs, eResources, magazines and a “library of things,” such as cake pans and WiFi hotspots, the representative said. NEW JERSEY MAN RETURNS BORROWED BOOK TO HIS LIBRARY 75 YEARS LATE The library system has not charged fines since September 2020, a move that also cleared any existing fines on customer accounts. Library customers will, however, be responsible for replacing the cost of an item if it is not returned after 28 days. The decision to eliminate fines was made after research showed that the threat of fines was deterring people from using the library, the St. Charles City-County Library wrote in a news release in 2020, when it announced it would be going fine-free. The nation’s largest left-wing dark money network raised a staggering $1.3 billion in anonymous donations and poured more than $900 million into a wide range of progressive causes last year, according to new tax filings reviewed by Fox News Digital. The billion-dollar network managed by Washington, D.C.-based Arabella Advisors — which consists of five independent nonprofits: New Venture Fund, Sixteen Thirty Fund, Windward Fund, Hopewell Fund and North Fund — reported a total of $1.34 billion in revenue from grants and financial contributions in 2022. The five funds collectively sent $937 million in grants to other organizations and causes. The groups reported a total of $1.43 billion in expenses which encompasses operational costs such as salaries, but additionally includes hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for internally-managed initiatives, meaning the network spent well over $1 billion to support various liberal causes. “These documents reveal the overwhelming influence of the left-wing Arabella Advisors network on American politics,” Caitlin Sutherland, the executive director of watchdog group Americans for Public Trust, told Fox News Digital. “In 2022 alone, these groups spent $1.4 billion to push our country toward more extreme causes and candidates.” “As the 2024 election cycle ramps up, the American people deserve to know just how much influence the foreign-backed Arabella network has on our local, state, and federal elections.” MEET THE LITTLE-KNOWN GROUP FUNDED BY LEFT-WING DARK MONEY THAT IS SHAPING FEDERAL CLIMATE POLICY The Arabella-managed nonprofit nexus has positioned itself as a top dark money network in the U.S. in recent years, raising billions of dollars and reporting assets worth billions of dollars more. Each fund within the sprawling network hides its donors and acts as a fiscal sponsor to other left-wing nonprofits by providing their tax status, which allows the fiscally-sponsored groups under their auspices to avoid filing tax documents to the Internal Revenue Service since they are not standalone organizations.  The arrangement allows the funds to largely keep the public in the dark about who is using the network as a conduit to fund left-wing initiatives. Overall, the Arabella-managed groups fund progressive social issues, international development projects, climate-focused initiatives and other programs related to technology, culture and health. MAJOR ECO GROUP SAW LARGE FUNDING UPTICK FUELED BY LIBERAL DARK MONEY NETWORK: ‘BEST YEAR EVER’ “Given the complexity of the challenges facing society and the immense scale of need in our world, the philanthropic sector has a responsibility to continually seek to maximize the impact of its efforts,” New Venture Fund President Lee Bodner wrote in his group’s 2023 impact report. “New Venture Fund — as one of the world’s leading fiscal sponsors — exists to break down barriers and ease burdens on changemakers so that they can use resources more effectively and accomplish more good as they do.” “Our work is empowering New Venture Fund projects to solve vexing environmental challenges like water conservation and cleaner oceans, to promote early learning as a proven pathway to youth development and better long-term outcomes, and — with a wide range of partners — to support nonpartisan work to increase civic participation and help ensure needed infrastructure for election administration.” In 2022, New Venture Fund remained the largest fund managed by Arabella Advisors. The group raised $735 million in revenue from anonymous outside donors and wired more than $500 million in grants of its own, though its total expenses were $825 million and Bodner said the group made donations totaling nearly $800 million. “New Venture Fund is a public charity that supports nonpartisan work around the world to improve education, public health, conservation and more,” an NVF spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “In 2022, NVF was proud to provide fiscal sponsorship to 130 active projects and grants to well over 1,000 domestic and international organizations that are focused on taking on major societal challenges.” 

“Like other 501(c)(3) organizations, New Venture Fund does not engage in partisan activities or support any political campaigns,” they said. “We have systems in place to ensure legal compliance.” Sixteen Thirty Fund, another major Arabella-managed group, received $190 million in grants last year while sending out $149 million of its own.  In total, the Sixteen Thirty Fund invested $190 million in grantees and projects in 2022, its president, Amy Kurtz, wrote in a Medium post. “Crises like the dismantling of civil rights and personal freedoms are all too common in our nation today, but through fiscal sponsorship, philanthropy has the power to galvanize and respond,” Kurtz said in the post. “From threats to voting rights and democracy, to the child care cliff and cost of prescription drugs, Sixteen Thirty Fund provides a solid foundation for projects and grantees to incubate new solutions, quickly scale new organizations and advance progressive values.” TOP REPUBLICANS LAUNCH PROBE INTO LEONARDO DICAPRIO-FUNDED BLUE STATE LAWSUITS AGAINST BIG OIL Windward Fund, a third group in the network that largely focuses on environmental issues, raised $194 million in grants while it doled out $164 million in its own grants and reported more than $200 million in total expenses. “The climate crisis poses an existential threat to all of us, and Windward Fund is proud to support global efforts to build a more impactful environmental movement,” a spokesperson from the group told Fox News Digital. “Through our fiscal sponsorship model, Windward provides a vehicle for effective, community-based grantmaking that elevates the voices of those most impacted by environmental degradation.” A fourth group, Hopewell Fund, was the recipient of $175 million in outside grants and spent $90 million on its own grants with its total expenses surpassing $157 million. “From mental health access to abortion rights and economic empowerment, Hopewell Fund is dedicated to ensuring that people from all backgrounds have the tools, knowledge, and rights to lead healthy and productive lives,” a spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “In 2022, Hopewell proudly supported initiatives to strengthen communities across the country.”  And the North Fund, the final fund in the network, raised $47 million, reported $44 million in total expenses and sent $26 million in grants. The North Fund did not provide Fox News Digital with a comment by the time of publication.  The five funds altogether sent more than $52 million to Arabella Advisors as payment for operational and management services provided by the firm. In addition, on numerous occasions, the funds wired millions of dollars to each other, further obscuring which issues and initiatives individual grants supported. For example, New Venture Fund and North Fund sent $35 million and $5.6 million, respectively, to SixteenThirty Fund.

USS Thomas Hudner, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, shot down a drone from Yemen in the Red Sea on Wednesday, two U.S. defense officials confirmed to Fox News. A defense official said the drone was shot down in self-defense. “The drone was heading towards the Hudner,” the official said.  The drone attack is the latest in a series of attacks on American troops stationed in the Middle East amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.  As of Tuesday, the Pentagon said there have been 56 attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria since Oct. 17, with 59 U.S. personnel getting injured with either traumatic brain injury (TBI) or non-serious injuries. MIDDLE EAST PAYING PRICE OF BIDEN WHITE HOUSE REMOVING HOUTHIS FROM TERRORIST LIST, EXPERTS SAY Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh provided the update to reporters, saying of the 59 U.S. personnel who were injured, 32 were listed with injuries in the non-serious category, while the other 27 individuals suffered from TBI. Last week, the Iranian-backed Houthis shot down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone near the Yemini Coast. The drone was reportedly surveilling Yemen when a Houthi militia fired at the equipment, estimated to cost about $30 million. Since the drone was shot down, the U.S. has not responded, and the Houthis have threatened to act against Israeli ships in the Red Sea. PENTAGON CONFIRMS 56 ATTACKS ON US TROOPS IN IRAQ AND SYRIA SINCE OCT. 17 On Tuesday, during the Pentagon news briefing, Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin asked Singh about the lack of U.S. military response to the Houthis in Yemen who downed the MQ-9 drone.  “Isn’t the lack of response by the US military inviting more actions, aggressive actions by the Houthis?” Griffin asked.  “I wouldn’t say that it’s inviting more aggressive or further response from the Houthis. We’ve seen the Houthis do this before,” Singh said. “We’ve seen one of our MQ-9s shot down before in the past. I’m not saying that we’re not going to respond. We always reserve the right to respond at a time and place of our choosing.” Also on Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Defense released two videos of airstrikes conducted by U.S. forces on Iranian proxy fighters in Syria, which took place on Sunday. IRANIAN SHADOW MILITIAS TARGET US, ISRAEL IN MIDDLE EAST: REPORT A senior U.S. defense official said the strikes killed at least six Iranian proxy fighters at Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stations in the Syrian cities of Abu Kamal and Maydin. The buildings targeted by U.S. forces included a reported safe house and training facility, but a senior defense source told Fox News that the safe house functioned as a headquarters. Another official told Fox that secondary explosions were seen at one of the locations, which suggested there was a large amount of flammable ammunition or weapons at the facility. A young Alabama father of two, who died after allegedly being beaten and sexually assaulted by a gang in prison, wrote an eerie Facebook post just days before the attack apparently unfolded. “How every body doing [sic] I ain’t got to much longer left pray for me I’m coming home better then I was before drug free it’s been a crazy ride 3 different prisons now. It’s almost over,” Daniel Terry Williams, 22, wrote on Oct. 15, about one week before his family says he was brutally beaten by a prison gang on Oct. 19. Williams was likely referring to his upcoming release from the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore, Alabama, on Nov. 9 — the same day he died after being taken off life support, as his father and stepmother previously told Fox News Digital. He was serving a one-year sentence for assault and theft charges as part of a plea agreement, according to Jefferson County court records. He had only been at Staton for about two weeks following a transfer to the Elmore facility when he was allegedly beaten and sexually assaulted last month.  ALABAMA FATHER DIES AFTER ALLEGED BEATING, SEXUAL ASSAULT BY PRISON GANG: FAMILY Taylor Bostic, Williams’ stepmother, said the warden at Staton told her over the phone that Williams had overdosed on drugs. When she and her husband, Terry Williams — Daniel’s father — went to visit him at a hospital after the alleged overdose, they could not believe what they saw. GEORGIA INMATE EATEN ALIVE BY BUGS IN CONDITIONS ‘NOT FIT FOR A DECEASED ANIMAL,’ FAMILY ATTORNEY SAYS  “He was black and blue from head to toe,” Bostic said. “He had restraint marks on his wrists. He had indents, almost, in his head from being beaten. So, my husband, Terry, called the warden and said, ‘Why the hell…did you tell me my son died of an overdose when it was obviously an assault?’ And the warden said it’s under investigation, and that’s all we’ve heard from them since.” Terry Williams alleged, citing what he has heard from other inmates at the facility, that Daniel had been “tied up” and beaten on Oct. 19, three days before another inmate apparently took him to an officer for help on Oct. 22. Daniel was brain-dead and transported to a hospital, where his family ultimately decided to take him off life support.  MAN DIES IN FULTON COUNTY JAIL AFTER BEING FOUND UNRESPONSIVE, THE 6TH INMATE TO DIE SINCE JULY  He was apparently transported to Kilby Correctional Facility three days after being taken off life support, when he was pronounced dead on Nov. 9, his parents alleged. The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) told Fox News Digital in a statement that “a possible inmate-on-inmate assault was reported at Staton Correctional Facility” on Oct. 22. He was always finding something to do, whether it was tearing something apart or fixing something,” she said. “He was raising his daughter, which he loved. A former editor for the left-leaning website The Recount has reportedly been charged with multiple counts of child pornography. According to Massachusetts authorities, 44-year-old Slade Sohmer has pleaded not guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of dissemination of child pornography. Sohmer was arrested at his residence in Otis, Mass., on Friday, several weeks after law enforcement obtained a search warrant and confiscated his personal electronic devices. An investigation into Sohmer was started after authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities later traced the content in the lead to the IP address of Sohmer’s home internet. INSTAGRAM ALGORITHM BOOSTS ‘VAST PEDOPHILE NETWORK,’ BOMBSHELL REPORT CLAIMS After searching through Sohmer’s phones, laptops, and tablets, investigators initially uncovered 1,300 files, with hundreds that included child sexual abuse media. One of the pictures depicted the rape of a child around four years old. The Berkshire Eagle reported that Sohmer was released on $100,000 bail Monday after he was charged and arraigned in Berkshire District Court. He allegedly disseminated “hundreds of child pornography images and videos,” some of which included toddlers, court documents showed. The district attorney’s office said some of the materials were sent to others via Telegram and Snapchat. In 2021, Sohmer allegedly discussed how to “lure, kidnap and rape children” with another individual. Prosecutors claimed that Sohmer may have produced some of the content found on his devices. AI NOW BEING USED TO GENERATE CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, BLACKMAIL TEENAGERS: DIGITAL SAFETY EXPERT Authorities said they expect more charges to be leveled against Sohmer once they finish scanning his devices. Sohmer, who worked as editor-in-chief at The Recount for four years, was ordered to have no internet access, engage in mandatory location notifications to a probation officer and avoid contact with those under 18. Sohmer was removed from his position at The Recount around the time the investigation into him began. He will return to court on December 21 and faces a mandatory sentence of 10 years if convicted of dissemination and another five years if convicted of possession. He previously worked as a managing editor at Mic, was a SiriusXM radio host and co-founded Hyper Vocal news site. Sohmer also previously served as a camp counselor. A 2014 Instagram post from “Summer 365” identified Sohmer as a “camp legend,” and his LinkedIn says he has served as a co-director at Camp Power since 2010. FIRST ON FOX: Republicans are calling on the Biden administration to withdraw a rule reforming the H-2A agricultural worker visa program — claiming that it is a “giveaway to Big Labor” and infringes on the property rights of farmers. “The proposed rule exceeds DOL authority, is a giveaway to Big Labor, infringes on farmers’ property rights, and is overly burdensome in numerous other ways,” House Education and Workforce Committee Chair Virginia Foxx and Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn Thompson wrote to Acting Labor Department Secretary Julie Su. The Department announced the rule in September, which builds on a rule published last year concerning the H-2A program — which grants temporary or “nonimmigrant” visas to foreign farmworkers.  REPUBLICANS GRILL LABOR DEPT ON FARM WORKER VISAS, AS OFFICIAL WARNS OF TERRIBLE CONDITIONS  As a move designed to address concerns about abuse of workers in the program, the rule expands workers’ rights to invite guests — including union officials — to employer-provided housing and meetings with employers. It would also require employers to provide lists of workers to requesting labor organizations. The Biden administration says the move increases transparency. The rule also makes new wage rates applicable immediately, rather than weeks later. It would also require employers to provide transport to worksites that includes seatbelts in response to safety concerns. It would also establish six conditions that would need to be met in order to terminate a worker for cause. BIDEN ADMIN MULLS MOVE TO OPEN PATHWAYS TO GREEN CARDS FOR TEMPORARY AGRICULTURAL, SEASONAL MIGRANT WORKERS “This proposed rule would strengthen protections for H-2A farm workers who are particularly vulnerable to labor abuses, empower them to advocate for fair treatment and ensure that their employment does not depress labor standards and undercut domestic farm workers,” Su said in a statement. “The administration is committed to protecting all workers, and this proposal would significantly advance that effort.” But the Republicans say that the union strengthening could be unconstitutional and could interfere with farm work. “The proposed rule puts its thumb on the scale to favor labor unions in several ways that exceed DOL’s authority and are contrary to congressional intent,” they say, arguing that the agency does not have the authority to impose the mandates. They also warn that the lists being required to be provided to unions is in fact a “wish-list” from Big Labor. “The proposed rule additionally requires employers to provide to a labor union a plethora of personal information on workers upon the union’s request and allows only one week of response time to such a request,” they say. “This information includes the workers’ full names, dates of hire, job titles, work location addresses, personal email addresses, personal cellular telephone numbers, profile names for messaging applications, home country addresses, and home country telephone numbers.| They also object to the inclusion that employers satisfy certain criteria before firing an H-2A worker for cause, arguing that it could interfere with the need to terminate a worker for safety reasons. “The proposed rule is thus overly burdensome to employers and may harm the interests of workers,” they say. They also argue that the limited time to adjust wages after the agency publishes wage rates is “an unnecessary change that will be challenging, if not impossible, for employers to meet.” “DOL needs to withdraw this proposed rule and go back to the drawing board,” the lawmakers say.

Former President Donald Trump will remain on Michigan’s ballot for the state’s 2024 presidential primary, a judge ruled on Tuesday. Trump’s opponents have argued in multiple states that the former president is ineligible for office under the 14th Amendment. They state that Trump’s actions surrounding the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol constituted insurrection against the U.S. Michigan Court of Claims Judge James Redford rejected that argument, however. “The judicial action of removing a candidate from the presidential ballot and prohibiting them from running essentially strips Congress of its ability to ‘by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such a disability,'” Redford wrote. ATTEMPT TO BAR TRUMP FROM 2024 BALLOT GAINS STEAM DESPITE ‘DUBIOUS’ AND ‘DANGEROUS’ LEGAL ARGUMENTS: EXPERTS “The question of whether he is ineligible due to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment presents a political question that is nonjusticiable at the present time,” the judge continued. “The question of whether Donald Trump is qualified or disqualified from appearing on the 2024 general election ballot in Michigan is not ripe for adjudication at this time.” CASES IN COLORADO, MINNESOTA SEEK TO STOP TRUMP FROM BECOMING PRESIDENT AGAIN Trump is facing a similar effort to remove him from the primary ballot in Colorado. Currently pending is a decision out of a Colorado lawsuit. Watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and six Colorado voters filed their lawsuit in September to block Trump from appearing on the primary ballot, citing the 14th Amendment.  TRUMP CAMPAIGN SAYS 14TH AMENDMENT ADVOCATES USING ‘LAWFARE’ TO ‘DEPRIVE’ VOTERS OF CHOICE IN 2024 The Trump team has made multiple motions to dismiss the case, but Judge Sarah B. Wallace has rejected them. So far, however, none of the attempts to get Trump removed from a ballot have been successful. The Minnesota Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit seeking to block Trump’s candidacy this week. Courts also swatted down a similar move in New Hampshire. New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy on Wednesday announced her candidacy for Senate seat currently occupied by Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J. “I’m Tammy Murphy and I’m running for U.S. Senate to fight for New Jersey, our families and our democracy,” Murphy posted on X. Her husband is New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D).  Murphy enters the Democratic Senate primary as Menendez faces criminal charges of acting as a foreign agent and accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to benefit the Egyptian government through his “power and influence as a Senator,” according to the superseding indictment filed by a grand jury in Manhattan last month. Also running is Rep. Andy Kim, D-N.J., who declared his candidacy in September, becoming the first Democrat to challenge Menendez. This is a developing story and will be updated. Israeli troops have entered Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza following a firefight with Hamas terrorists at the gate on Wednesday. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had surrounded the facility for days, saying Hamas had placed its headquarters in tunnels beneath the hospital. While Hamas denies the claim, its fighters engaged in intense gunbattles with Israeli troops around the complex. At least one doctor at the hospital said Israel warned staff of their plans to enter the complex on Wednesday. Troops say they brought medical supplies for patients inside, who had suffered for days under dwindling supplies and fuel. “Before entering the hospital our forces were confronted by explosive devices and terrorist squads, fighting ensued in which terrorists were killed,” the IDF said in a statement. NEWLY RELEASED PHOTOS SHOW MYSTERIOUS COCAINE DISCOVERED IN WHITE HOUSE The fate of the hundreds of patients inside the hospital had been a focus of international concern for days prior to Israel’s assault. The hospital said that at least two children born prematurely had died due to a lack of available medical care. Israel says it attempted to provide some 300 liters of fuel to the hospital earlier this week, but that Hamas administrators had refused to exchange. WH REFUSES TO SAY IF IT WILL SUPPORT COOPERATION WITH SUBPOENA IN BIDEN CLASSIFIED DOCS INVESTIGATION Dr. Ahmed El Mohallalati, a surgeon at the hospital, told Reuters that Israel had informed staff that they planned to enter the hospital and search it. Israel has yet to reveal the results of a search as of early Wednesday morning. “We realized that the tanks are moving around the hospital. One of the big tanks entered within the hospital from the eastern main gate, and they were, they were they just parked in the front of the hospital emergency department,” Mohallalati told the outlet. White House officials confirmed Israel’s claim that Hamas was using the hospital as a base on Tuesday. “I can confirm for you that we have information that Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad used some hospitals in the Gaza Strip, including Al-Shifa, and tunnels underneath them to conceal and support their military operations and to hold hostages,” Kirby told reporters while aboard Air Force One.

Music superstar Pink was hit with Community Notes on X for falsely claiming some of the most celebrated books were banned in Florida schools due to pornography.  On Monday, the singer went viral with her attack on Florida’s education reform laws that crack down on books that aren’t age-appropriate.  “The following are some titles of books that have been banned from schools in Florida…. Lmk which book is pornography…. To Kill A Mockingbird, The Hate You Give, Forrest Gump, A Catcher In The Rye, The Hill We Climb, Girls Who Code, Atlas Shrugged, 1984, The Kite Runner, The Bluest Eye, A Wrinkle In Time, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Fault In Our Stars, etc etc.,” Pink wrote. BOOKS AREN’T BEING BANNED AT SCHOOL. BUT DEMOCRATS, MEDIA DO DEFEND PORN FOR KIDS IN SCHOOL LIBRARIES Critics piled on the Grammy-winning artist so much that her post was slapped with a disclaimer saying, “This list has been proven incorrect.” “These books are not banned in Florida. In fact, some are on Florida’s required reading list,” the Community Notes read. The notes also included a link to an August 2022 article from USA Today debunking the fabricated list when it initially emerged. But that hasn’t stopped Pink from taking her advocacy on the road.
