An Arizona man is fighting for his life after he was critically injured after an electrical box exploded at a Home Depot, authorities said. Phoenix firefighters responded to the popular home improvement chain on Tuesday at 10 a.m.  Footage from FOX 10 showed first responders arriving at the store and begin assessing the situation.  Firefighters said the man was an employee and was working in an electrical room at the back of the store when the explosion occurred.  CLOSED DOWNTOWN LA FREEWAY TO WREAK HAVOC ON MORNING COMMUTE Crews said that the unidentified victim had “significant burns to his face and hands” following the unexpected explosion.  AZ JUDGE RESIGNS FROM POSITION AFTER EXTREME DUI CHARGE Authorities said the victim was transported to the hospital where he is in critical condition.  The store closed as firefighters worked to stop the fire from spreading throughout the busy store. Eventually, the fire was contained and the store reopened. Firefighters worked to stop the fire from spreading throughout the store. Authorities said no one else was injured during the incident and that the cause of the explosion is under investigation.

A Republican congressman who accused Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., of kidney-punching him in a Capitol hallway called the incident a “sad asterisk” on the ex-speaker’s career, saying it shows why he and seven other GOP members voted to oust him. McCarthy denied intentionally striking Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., telling reporters in a gaggle later Tuesday that if he truly punched Burchett, he would “be on the ground.” Burchett told FOX News that McCarthy has “spiral[ed] out of control” and blamed any alleged intent on the fact he was one of the eight Republicans who supported Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz’ motion to vacate the chair in October. “I would just encourage your viewers to look at the lady from NPR, Claudia [Grisales] — look at her Twitter account. She had a pretty accurate view of it and disclosed exactly what happened,” Burchett said. Burchett was standing in a hallway being interviewed by Grisales following a conference, when McCarthy allegedly brushed past him. MCCARTHY HIT WITH ETHICS COMPLAINT OVER ALLEGED SHOVE OF TN LAWMAKER Grisales claimed on X, formerly Twitter, that McCarthy “shoved” Burchett, who then “lunged towards” her.  “I thought it was a joke, it was not,” Grisales said, while reporting Burchett initially began to apologize for making contact with McCarthy before shouting, “‘Hey Kevin, why’d you walk behind me and elbow me in the back? You got any guts?'” Burchett then reportedly called the alleged strike a “chicken move.” McCarthy later responded, according to Forbes: “No, I did not elbow — no, I would not elbow — I would not hit him in a kidney.” Burchett quipped to “Jesse Watters Primetime” that Grisales, as a reporter for the left-wing public radio network, would not be one to rush to his defense politically — but appeared to do so in her tweets. Speaking about the gridlock in Congress, Burchett said he hopes the newly minted speaker, Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., has better luck passing individualized spending bills than McCarthy over his months-long tenure. “[McCarthy] took off the entire month of August and then two weeks into September and backed us up against the wall, which is really by design. Pelosi did the same thing. Speakers always do it so they can pass a pork-filled budget, which we won’t have any hearings over and nobody will hear anything about,” he said. MCCARTHY ACCUSED OF SHOVING REPUBLICAN LAWMAKER “And that’s exactly what he did, and then he left this speaker, Speaker Johnson, an honorable man who wants to pass a budget with two weeks or less to do something with 30 years’ worth of bad history.” Earlier in the day, fireworks erupted in a Senate hearing chaired by Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont — in which Teamsters union boss Sean O’Brien was confronted by Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., over a slew of tit-for-tat social media posts between the two — over how O’Brien claimed Mullin, who started and grew a small plumbing business, is a “greedy CEO.” Mullin read one tweet he considered was a challenge to a fight, in which O’Brien taunted, “any place, any time, cowboy.” “This is the time, this is the place,” Mullin told O’Brien in the hearing, adding, “if you want to run your mouth, we can be two consenting adults. A “shameless” man in Florida was caught on camera making off with a woman’s porch decorations in broad daylight and struggling to place the stolen items in his SUV. Aramairon Perez shared on Instagram footage from her Nest doorbell video camera of the thief in the act on November 9. “8.36 am at my house, a shameless person robbed me,” Perez wrote in Spanish. “I’m sharing it so that you are aware, you can no longer be calm.” The bizarre footage shows the thief, who was wearing all-black with a Miami Heat basketball hat along with a mask, pulling up to Perez’s residence in Miami, Florida in his black Ford Expedition. FLORIDA SERIAL CAR BURGLARY SUSPECT WITH ‘ALL GAS, NO BRAKES’ TATTOO NABBED AFTER HIGH-SPEED CRASH He quickly opens the trunk before jogging up to Perez’s porch-seemingly unaware that he was being video recorded. The thief does not stop there, returning to the Miami porch and retrieving an exotic-looking leafy plant from Perez’s porch. He is seen on the Nest doorbell video footage wrangling the heavy potted plant. After a couple of failed attempts, he is seen eventually sliding it next to the wicker chair. FLORIDA MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR MURDER-FOR-HIRE PLOT AND MULTIPLE FRAUD SCHEMES The man begins to head back to the porch, then appears to change his mind and returns to close his bursting SUV and take off. The Miami Police Department did not immediately confirm if the thief was arrested following the incident.

A Houston area nail salon is in hot water after a customer claims the salon owner locked her and her 4-year-old son inside for nearly 30 minutes after she disputed her bill.  According to FOX 26 Houston, the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, says she went in on a Sunday for a basic pedicure, which was priced at $55. The woman said she was charged $110 for a number of extras, including a $15 credit card fee and $10 for a bottle of water for her child.  When the woman said she’d only pay $55, she says the owner locked her and her son inside the salon because she called the police. The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) released two videos of airstrikes conducted by U.S. forces on Iranian proxy fighters in Syria, which took place over the weekend. On Sunday, a senior U.S. defense official said at least six Iranian proxy fighters were killed in the U.S.’s attacks on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stations in the Middle East. The IRGC stations are located in the Syrian cities of Abu Kamal and Maydin. Baltimore Orioles’ Brandon Hyde and Miami Marlins’ Skip Schumaker were named the AL and NL Managers of the Year in MLB on Tuesday.  For Hyde, his Orioles finally got over the .500 hump last season after winning 86 games. He had just eight first-place votes, narrowly beating out Milwaukee Brewers’ Craig Counsell, who now manages the Chicago Cubs.  Schumaker got eight second-place votes and eight third-place votes out of 30 voters. Brian Snitker of the Atlanta Braves finished third in voting.  Arizona Diamondbacks’ Torey Lovullo, Los Angeles Dodgers’ Dave Roberts and Cincinnati Reds’ David Bell all received first-place votes as well.

The mayor is putting that question to voters in the runup to next year’s Olympic Games, the latest salvo in her long-running campaign to make the city more friendly to pedestrians and the planet, and less friendly to cars. A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter on a search and rescue mission crashed in southeast Alaska, seriously injuring two of the four crew members on board. US ARMY IDENTIFIES 2 SOLDIERS KILLED AFTER TRANSPORT VEHICLE FLIPS IN ALASKA TRAINING AREA All four crew members were taken to Seattle for treatment following the crash late Monday on Read Island, about 80 miles east of Sitka, said Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Michael Salerno. The Coast Guard described two of the crew members’ injuries as serious. The crash was reported by the fishing vessel that was the subject of the search and rescue call that the helicopter was responding to, he said. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and Salerno had no further details about what might have contributed to the crash. Rescue crews from state and local agencies and another Coast Guard helicopter arrived at the scene early Tuesday to help provide medical care to the crew members who were more seriously hurt, the Coast Guard said in a news release posted on social media. The crash was reported about 11:05 p.m., and the first crews arrived about 12:50 a.m., the Coast Guard said.

The Dutch government said Tuesday it has abandoned, for now, plans to rein in flights at Amsterdam’s busy Schiphol Airport following protests from countries including the United States and warnings that the move could breach European law and aviation agreements. The government last year announced plans to reduce the number of flights from 500,000 to 460,000 at Schiphol, one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs. In a letter to lawmakers, Minister for Infrastructure and Water Mark Harbers said the first phase of the plan, for 2024, was being shelved “until further notice” and at least pending a decision by the country’s Supreme Court. KENYA AIRWAYS PLANE INTERCEPTED, DIVERTED FROM HEATHROW TO STANSTED AIRPORT AFTER ‘INCIDENT’: UK AUTHORITIES A lower court in May blocked plans to reduce the number of flights but an appeals court in Amsterdam later overturned that decision. A Supreme Court ruling is expected in the second quarter of 2024. Schiphol said in a statement it was “disappointed by the recent developments, as local residents are getting the short end of the stick.” The planned cuts were intended to reduce noise pollution for residents near the airport on Amsterdam’s southern outskirts. Schiphol said the decision would lead to “more uncertainty, including for the aviation sector itself. It is time that hindrance for local residents is noticeably reduced.” In his letter to lawmakers, Harbers wrote that U.S. authorities had called the reduction in flights “unjust, discriminatory and anti-competitive for airlines.” Aviation group Airlines for America welcomed the decision and expressed gratitude to the U.S. government for “issuing a very strong order outlining the violations of the U.S.-EU Air Transport Agreement.” It said that the order and government-to-government discussions held this week with the Dutch and the European Union “were instrumental to persuading the Dutch government to this successful outcome.” The group said it “remains committed to addressing both the needs of passengers and shippers while continuing to focus on reaching aviation’s global climate goals, including reducing noise pollution. Dutch airline KLM called the decision to shelve the plan “an important step to prevent retaliation and to continue flying to the US.” TURKISH SUSPECT ACCUSED IN GERMAN AIRPORT HOSTAGE SITUATION INVOLVING 4-YEAR-OLD KLM said in a statement it has agreed to a number of announced measures, including a “cleaner, quieter and more economical plan, to accelerate the reduction of noise pollution,” adding it shares the government’s environmental concerns and is “fully committed to reducing its environmental footprint.” Environmental groups in the Netherlands, including Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, called the decision “shocking.” “There is so much at stake here. As a result, local residents are left in the lurch and the climate is further heated,” the groups wrote. “This is a major setback, but the number of flights will have to be reduced to make the Netherlands livable and to tackle the climate crisis,” they added.

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh changed his tune Monday on at least one thing as he is suspended from games for the rest of the regular season over the school’s sign-stealing scandal. Harbaugh mentioned his about-face on chickens during his press conference. He had reportedly called chickens a “nervous bird” and mentioned that as one of the reasons why he didn’t like the animal. And the respect that I have for chickens. “I know there was a time when I said that chicken is a nervous bird. ‘I don’t eat chicken; I only eat meat.’ But I was dead wrong. I stand corrected. These chickens are low maintenance and high production. They lay an egg every 26, 27 hours. A senior Republican congressman told Fox News Digital he felt sickened after viewing footage of Palestinian terror organization Hamas’ Oct. 7 surprise terror attacks that killed 1,200 Israeli citizens. California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa spoke with Fox News Digital over the phone after viewing the footage with most of his congressional colleagues. Issa said the “vast majority” of congressional lawmakers were in the Cannon Caucus Room to view the footage. The congressman noted that there were “over 300” people in attendance, which led to the screening being “standing room only.” ‘CLEARLY IRANS’S WAR WITH ISRAEL’: GOP CONGRESSMAN TRAVELINGI N MIDDLE EAST WARNS OF ‘SUSTAINED’ CONFLICT The senior House Foreign Affairs Committee Republican said the footage of “uniformed, military Hamas and civilian-dressed Hamas” killing “unarmed civilians” made him sick. “I’ve seen decapitation and I’ve seen just beating, and beating on both dead and alive bodies,” Issa said. “And quite frankly, I’m just sick to my stomach.” Issa said he believes the “most important detail” was the multiple sources of the footage. Some videos came from terrorists’ own social media posts, but most were from body camera footage and cellphone footage recorded by Hamas. “I mean, the details. And you can hear it, but when you see it, it’s like visiting Auschwitz or Birkenau, except it’s still going on visually,” Issa said. Since the Oct. 7 attacks – during which Issa was in the Middle East – antisemitic hate crimes have dramatically increased, according to the Anti-Defamation League. Protests against Israel have also intensified, and there are numerous viral videos of protesters ripping down posters of Israelis who have been kidnapped by Hamas. “I respect people’s rights to protest for the things that they think are unfair,” Issa said. “This isn’t one of them.” “Gaza was not occupied. This was not a resistance within Gaza, but rather a deliberate attack on civilians over the border,” he continued. Issa said the situation is one of “two separate things” and that we “can talk about the unfairness of the Palestinians not having a country of their own.” But those discussions should be separate from condemnation of what was shown to members of Congress, Issa said. The videos depicted “the unprovoked slaughter of civilians, a degree of inhumanity that you usually think for the machete world of elsewhere, but not in an area where education and opportunity is available the way it is for the Palestinians in Gaza,” Issa said. The California Republican said he believes the House “did the right thing” by passing the Israel aid bill “overwhelmingly” earlier this month, a bill that paid for aid by slashing the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) funding. Issa blasted President Biden as well, saying the president is “not complaining about the offset as much as he’s complaining about it not being in two other areas.” “I don’t think anything could be less appropriate. You know, funding for Ukraine and the ongoing war there, which is a military-on-military war primarily, is something I support. But supporting two fronts against two aggressors doesn’t have to be combined. Dueling protests in support of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples at Concordia University in Montreal last week resulted in multiple injuries and an arrest after a student assaulted a security guard amid a violent clash. Student group Jews on Campus told CBC that it tried to hold a peaceful demonstration in support of the hostages taken by Hamas, but then a crowd “chanting pro-Palestinian slogans” surrounded the demonstration. The “productive” effort “started to turn,” according to one witness.  The pro-Palestinian crowd allegedly called the Jewish students “murderers” and a fight broke out, although it was not clear who threw the first punch. The witness described the situation as “very scary as a Jewish person on campus.”  Pro-Palestinian students claimed that they submitted evidence to the police that pro-Israel protesters “attacked” them while they sold the keffiyeh – or head scarf – as a fundraiser for Palestinian people in Gaza. MAJOR LAW FIRM TO ACCUSE ELITE UNIVERSITIES OF CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS FOR ENABLING ANTISEMITIC MOBS The incident prompted alumnus Lawrence Muscat, a senior vice president at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, to demand the university scratch his name from their list, blasting the school for having “failed to protect Jewish students.”  “No, I don’t want to meet with your President and fundraisers in D.C.,” he wrote on social media platform X, stressing that the school “will not get a penny from me.”  “At the same time, I am more than happy to support any Canadian charitable organization that holds Concordia accountable and works to protect Jewish students,” he continued. “Hit me up, I’m ready.” Montreal police deployed to the school around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday last week, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old student who had allegedly assaulted a 54-year-old security guard during a violent clash between the opposing protests, CBC reported.  NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT CALLS ON STUDENTS TO CONDEMN ANTISEMITIC PHRASES: SCHOOL GROUP CLAPS BACK Police released the student on condition that they promise to appear in court. Officers remained on the scene until 4:15 p.m.  A second security guard and student were injured by assaults during the violence, but neither the guards nor the student sustained life-threatening injuries.  “I believe that the overwhelming majority of our community shares my complete abhorrence of these incidents and is appalled by them,” Concordia President and Vice Chancellor Graham Carr wrote in an email to the student body and wider university community. “A university, including ours, is a place where academic freedom, and the respectful, civil exchange of thoughts and ideas is valued above all else,” Carr wrote. “One source of pride for Concordia’s community is our cultural diversity and our desire and willingness to learn from others whose experiences and knowledge differ from our own.” “But under no circumstances can we, as a community, tolerate the reprehensible acts of hate and violence that occurred today,” he added.  Carr stressed that the university body must “be accountable for our actions and our words whether in the classroom, in meetings or in other university spaces.”  MAJOR UNIVERSITIES ACCUSED OF NOT SUPPORTING JEWISH STUDENTS AMID ANTISEMITISM SURGE “I am deeply saddened and disgusted that the actions of a few individuals have now brought us to the point that we arrived at today,” he lamented. “The vast majority of Concordians, irrespective of their political and ideological views, have worked diligently to maintain calm and to uphold the integrity of university life even at a moment when events elsewhere are creating extreme levels of anxiety and tension.”  However, the altercation was just one of three separate incidents reported at the university on Wednesday in which “violence or incitement to violence” took place, Carr admitted, including a social media post that could “reasonably be construed as inciting violence” and the discovery of swastikas in a university building. University campuses across both the U.S. and Canada have grown increasingly tense as students remain divided over the current war in Gaza, where the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press on toward the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza – the largest hospital in the strip. The IDF and Israeli officials have repeatedly claimed that the hospital sits atop a Hamas terrorist command center. Israeli forces have exposed several weapons and supplies deployed at schools or stored under hospitals as they enclosed on Al-Shifa.  Younger generations, particularly Gen Z, have shown significantly greater support for the Palestinians leading to a headache for university leadership on any given campus as they find themselves under pressure to address antisemitism on campuses, particularly by rich donors who have either threatened to pull funding or have already declared they will not be giving any money going forward.  Columbia University in New York City announced last week that it would suspend two student groups – Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace – from the campus until the end of term for alleged violations of school policies following intense backlash from some faculty members and donors over the handling of protests on campus.  Harvard President Claudine Gay released a statement Thursday condemning antisemitism and called out the pro-Palestinian rallying cry “from the river to the sea” as crossing the line. “Our community must understand that phrases such as ‘from the river to the sea’ bear specific historical meanings that to a great many people imply the eradication of Jews from Israel and engender both pain and existential fears within our Jewish community. I condemn this phrase and any similarly hurtful phrases,” Gay wrote.  The international community has heavily polarized over Israel’s operations in the strip, which the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry claimed has led to the deaths of over 11,000 people. The Biden administration has repeatedly cast doubts on the accuracy or veracity of the numbers, with critics noting that the ministry does not distinguish between civilian and combatant deaths in its count.  Fox News Digital’s Joseph A. FIRST ON FOX: House Republican leaders are opening a probe into the White House over its decision to bypass environmental regulations when green-lighting a plan to house migrants on public land in New York. In a letter sent Monday to White House Council on Environmental Quality Chairwoman Brenda Mallory, House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman, R-Ark., and Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., the top GOP member of the panel’s oversight subcommittee, warned that the federal government appeared to steamroll environmental concerns when it leased public property for migrant housing. “Regardless of personal or political beliefs on immigration or migrant policy, there is common ground in keeping our national parks – some of America’s most treasured spaces – out of the debate,” they wrote to Mallory. “All national parks, whether in rural or urban areas, exist for visitors to experience wonder, to recreate and find joy, or to simply learn more about the great history of our nation.” “However, national parks are not a place to house people, temporarily or permanently, who lack shelter,” Westerman and Gosar continued in the letter obtained by Fox News Digital. BIDEN AGENCY DIVERTING MILLIONS IN BORDER FUNDS TO BLUE CITIES SAYS BORDER IS NOT ITS ‘MISSION SPACE’: EMAILS In September, amid the ongoing migrant surge at the southern border and related influx in New York City, the Department of the Interior (DOI) agreed to lease property in Gateway National Recreation Area’s Floyd Bennett Field – property managed by the National Park Service – to the local government. Officials then constructed temporary housing structures on the land, which is located in New York’s Brooklyn borough along the shore of Jamaica Bay. TITLE 42 EXPIRATION COULD BE AN ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHE, EXPERTS WARN However, the Republican leaders pointed out that, prior to the decision to lease the property, Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul noted the DOI had itself argued such an action would likely violate federal laws. The governor, who has called for federal assistance in dealing with her state’s migrant influx, remarked in August that officials told her office “they do not allow for use of shelter on any of their properties.” The Republicans also expressed concern that the White House Council on Environmental Quality allowed the DOI to bypass the normal eco review process mandated under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The 1969 law requires federal agencies to review the environmental impacts of projects and proposals on federal land before approval. “Despite concerns with the legality of housing people on national park land, the Biden administration ultimately moved forward with using national park land to establish a migrant housing encampment,” they continued in their letter to Mallory. “Alarmingly, to secure the FBF Lease, NPS requested and received alternative arrangements for National Environmental Policy Act compliance.”  “CEQ concurred with the alternative arrangement request and allowed NPS and DOI to bypass the standard NEPA compliance process,” they added. “CEQ’s approval of the alternative arrangement request was necessary for DOI and NPS to move forward with the FBF Lease.” Westerman and Gosar then listed a series of questions for Mallory about the legality of the decision to house migrants at Floyd Bennett Field and about the process that led to that decision. The letter Monday comes as migrants continue to flood the southern border in record numbers and Republicans continue to call for the Biden administration to make structural reforms to secure the border. In October, the Department of Homeland Security reported nearly 241,000 migrant encounters, the highest level ever recorded for that month. And since President Biden took office in early 2021, more than 8 million migrants have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally. The White House didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mere months after drivers in Oregon got the green light to pump their own gas, one of the state’s biggest labor unions is trying to ban self-service again. “For decades, Oregon stood shoulder to shoulder with New Jersey as the last bastions of resistance to self-serve gas,” reads the petition promoted by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 555. “The Beaver State should restore its historic alliance with the Garden State in defense of jobs and accessibility.” SAN FRANCISCO AREA PUSH TO BAN GAS APPLIANCES AMID BLACKOUTS IS ‘PURE EXTREMIST POLITICS,’ CEO SAYS Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek signed a bill in July allowing drivers across the state to choose between filling their own gas tank or having an attendant do it for them. Gas stations are still required to staff at least half their pumps under the new law for drivers who want an attendant to fill their tank. The law took effect immediately and left New Jersey as the only state prohibiting drivers from pumping their own gas. PROMINENT CRITIC OF BLUE STATE HOMELESS POLICIES ARRESTED ON THEFT CHARGES IN OREGON But UFCW Local 555 recently launched a state initiative petition that would repeal the law and ban all self-serve gas, including in rural Oregon counties where drivers have been allowed to fuel up on their own at night for nearly a decade. Motorcyclists would still be allowed to pump their own gas under the proposed measure, but an attendant would have to hand them the nozzle. BLUE STATE SUSPENDS BASIC SKILLS GRADUATION REQUIREMENT AGAIN, CITING HARM TO STUDENTS OF COLOR UFCW Local 555 represents more than 30,000 workers in retail, manufacturing and healthcare. It claims allowing people to pump their own gas has resulted in safety issues, layoffs and less accessible pumps.  “This bill is clear favoritism for big oil companies over the interests of workers,” UFCW Local 555 President Dan Clay said in a statement after the law passed. “While some Oregonians may experience marginal convenience, the underlying motivation is just a corporate giveaway that adds a burden to disabled drivers and undermines the safety and welfare of workers.” Clay is one of the chief petitioners of the new proposed ballot measure. The union has to collect at least 117,173 valid signatures to get the measure on the November 2024 ballot, Oregon Public Broadcasting reported. The rule change fiercely divided Oregonians, with some complaining in testimony to legislators that people would now have to “get out in the rain and cold to pump their gas.” Others said it was time for Oregon to join the other 48 states and “get rid of the arbitrary bottlenecking of the process of fueling our cars.”
