‘Jeopardy!’ fans outraged after contestant receives questionable ruling: ‘Ken Jennings blows it again’

'Jeopardy!' fans outraged after contestant receives questionable ruling: 'Ken Jennings blows it again'

One “Jeopardy!” answer sparked a heated debate between game show fans. During a recent episode of the beloved game show, a ruling had viewers riled up over the mispronunciation of an answer. Mark Fitzpatrick, a five-day “Jeopardy!” champion, chose the $800 clue from the category, “Just Doin’ My Job.”‘JEOPARDY!’ REFERENCES MAYIM BIALIK IN CLUE 1 YEAR AFTER SHE WAS FIREDThe prompt read, “Knows the proper use of propofol; can count to 16 (letters in the job); can tell people to count backward from 100.”While “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings was looking for the correct answer to, “anesthesiologist,” contestant Eamonn Campbell appeared to flub the pronunciation of the word. “Anateesiologist?” Campbell answered. Although Jennings gave the contestant another chance, he continued to stumble on the correct pronunciation of the word. “Anathesiologist?” he mispronounced again. Another “Jeopardy!” contestant, Dot White, buzzed in with the correct pronunciation of the word and answered, “”What is an anesthesiologist?”. Jennings then accepted the correct answer. Fans were quick to react to the questionable ruling of the challenging prompt. “Jeopardy and ken Jennings blows it again … screwing Eamonn out of his answer ‘anesthesiologist’ ….unbelievable!!” one comment read.Another fan wrote, “Are you frikin kidding me?!!! Eamonn Campbell doesn’t have a lisp… He just can’t seem to pronounce ‘anesthesiologist.’ Or maybe he just doesn’t know the word…”Other viewers disagreed with the outraged fans and argued pronunciation is very important.”Not really. You could definitely discern his lack of the 1st ‘s’ in his pronunciation. He said ‘ana-theeze-iologist’ as opposed to ‘ana-steeze-iologist.’ Twice! @KenJennings def made the right call.”A “Jeopardy!” fan simply reacted and wrote, “Pronunciation matters.”This was not the first time viewers slammed a controversial ruling on the game show. Earlier this year, a ruling on an episode of “Jeopardy!” had fans up in arms.LIKE WHAT YOU’RE READING? She added an extra “s” at the end of her response, which was enough for host Jennings to deny her the points — something fans called “brutal.”The clue read: “A Yosemite fall with a wispy ribbon of water that flutters in the air like a diaphanous cloth bears the name of this marital wear.”Proulx answered, “What is Bridalveil Falls?”CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER”No, I’m sorry,” Jennings responded. “It’s actually Bridalveil Fall, so we couldn’t take that. It is, ‘What is a bridal veil?’”Fans were upset at Jennings’ ruling and complained that it was a “brutal call.””Kelly should hold a grudge on this one,” one person wrote on the “Jeopardy!” Reddit page, while someone else called the decision against her answer “extremely pedantic.”Fox News Digital’s Emily Trainham contributed to this report.

Trump cuts Pennsylvania town hall short over medical emergencies in crowd

Trump cuts Pennsylvania town hall short over medical emergencies in crowd

Former President Donald Trump cut a Pennsylvania town hall short on Monday, stopping questions from the audience after two medical emergencies unfolded in the crowd.

The campaign town hall at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center & Fairgrounds in Oaks, Pennsylvania, first came to a halt when South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, the event’s host, was discussing Vice President Kamala Harris’ appearance on “The View” and slamming the Democratic nominee’s support of President Biden’s energy policies. “Hold it. A doctor, please,” Trump interjected, noticing a commotion in the crowd. “Doctor, thank you very much. We have incredible people. They come here hours before, and it’s a little hot.””They’re there with us all the way. We got to respect them,” Trump continued, referencing his supporters. “And you take your time, doctor. Take your time. Thank you very much. We always have great doctors in the audience. We’ve never had too much of a problem. Look at the quality of care we have. It’s incredible when you think that these people, first responders, our first responders are amazing.” TRUMP RESOUNDINGLY ENDORSES TEXAS SEN. TED CRUZ AHEAD OF TUESDAY NIGHT SENATE DEBATEThe incident was not captured on camera, though the New York Post reported that “a heavyset middle-aged man was wheeled out on a stretcher with his shirt cut open.” “Let’s wait till they take care of this incredible person who I guarantee you is a great patriot, I guarantee it,” Trump said. “Everybody in this room is a patriot.” The Republican presidential nominee requested that “Ave Maria” be sounded over the loudspeaker like it had at his recent comeback rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in honor of firefighter Corey Comperatore, the rallygoer killed during the first assassination attempt on Trump’s life on July 13. “We’ll be praying for him,” Noem said of the man wheeled out before taking another audience question. TRUMP CAMPAIGN HINTS AT ELECTION DAY TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS FOR VOTERS IMPACTED BY HURRICANES HELENE, MILTONTrump began his response about border security before the crowd yelled again about another medical incident. The former president stood up and looked into the crowd, stating “Take your time, doctor.” “I wish we could open those doors,” Trump said. “For security reasons, they can’t. But you know what I said? Just open them. Because anybody comes through those doors, you know what’s going to happen to them.” “It looks like, sir, she’s on her feet and walking out. Let’s encourage her,” Noem said. “I know it’s really warm in here. Everybody agrees that it’s really warm in here. We’ve got a lot of people who love America. I’m going to ask that if you have a chair, maybe sit so everyone around you can sit and still see the president.” “They’re both okay. Yes, they’re both. They’re both in good shape. And that’s wonderful,” Trump said of the two audience members who needed medical attention.Trump then decided not to take more questions from the crowd, calling on organizers to play music in the venue instead.

Chris Rufo refutes New York Times coverage on Kamala Harris plagiarism story: ‘Lied by omission’

Chris Rufo refutes New York Times coverage on Kamala Harris plagiarism story: 'Lied by omission'

Conservative activist Christopher Rufo accused the New York Times on Monday of undermining his exclusive story on Vice President Kamala Harris allegedly plagiarizing passages in her book “Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer.”Rufo first reported so-called “plagiarism hunter,” Austrian professor Stefan Weber, finding 27 times that Harris and her co-author allegedly committed some form of plagiarism, writing, “24 fragments are plagiarism from other authors, [and] 3 fragments are self-plagiarism from a work written with a co-author.””Taken in total, there is certainly a breach of standards here. Harris and her co-author duplicated long passages nearly verbatim without proper citation and without quotation marks, which is the textbook definition of plagiarism,” Rufo wrote. The New York Times, however, downplayed the impact of these instances, citing only five passages from Rufo. The story was headlined, “Conservative Activist Seizes on Passages From Harris Book,” and has three credited authors.HARVARD PRESIDENT PLAGIARISM SCANDAL LIKELY TIP OF ICEBERG OF WIDESPREAD ‘ACADEMIC CORRUPTION’, SCHOLAR SAYS”In a review of the book, The New York Times found that none of the passages in question took the ideas or thoughts of another writer, which is considered the most serious form of plagiarism. Instead, the sentences copy descriptions of programs or statistical information that appear elsewhere,” the article read.It also cited a plagiarism consultant, Jonathan Bailey, who said Rufo had taken minor infractions and tried to “make a big deal of it.” Bailey wrote on X on Monday that he had not performed a full analysis of Harris’ book.”For those coming here from the NY Times Article. I want to be clear that I have NOT performed a full analysis of the book. My quotes were based on information provided to me by the reporters and spoke only about those passages,” he wrote.Rufo took to X after the story was published to call out the New York Times, accusing it of misrepresenting the story.”This past Saturday, I provided the Times not only with my written analysis, which argues that there are ‘more than a dozen,’ but with Weber’s full dossier, which included 18 allegations of varying severity. So, the Times deliberately withheld this crucial contextual information from its readers and from the supposed plagiarism expert, who, based on this limited information, called it ‘not serious.’ They could have easily confirmed the ‘more than a dozen’ point, but instead, lied by omission,” Rufo wrote. He also attacked the article for citing “some academics” who have characterized his past reporting and research as racist.MEDIA RUSH TO DEFEND EX-HARVARD PRESIDENT CLAUDINE GAY, DOWNPLAY PLAGIARISM AND BLAME ‘RACIST’ CONSERVATIVESRufo wrote, “This is just a way of laundering in a smear to complement the absurd headline that my reporting on plagiarism by a presidential candidate is ‘seiz[ing] on’ a transgression that is ‘not serious’—in other words, framing me as the villain of the story, rather than the plagiarism by a presidential candidate.”He added, “My rule of working with journalists is simple: If you treat me fairly, I treat you fairly. After publication of the Times piece, I called the reporter and editor at the Times to ask politely for a correction. The editor, Mary Suh, had nothing but excuses. And so, we’re going to fight this one out. They should issue a correction, but, even if they do not, I will correct the record in public.”Fox News Digital reached out to the New York Times for a comment but did not immediately receive a response. In a comment to the New York Times, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign dismissed the accusations from Rufo’s report.”This is a book that’s been out for 15 years, and the vice president clearly cited sources and statistics in footnotes and endnotes throughout,” Harris spokesperson Jamie Singer said.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News Digital independently verified that Harris’ book features verbatim and near-verbatim reproductions from a 2008 NBC News report, a press release from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a Wikipedia page and a report from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), among others.
