Israeli forces seize documents that reveal Hamas plan for more elaborate attacks: report

Israeli forces seize documents that reveal Hamas plan for more elaborate attacks: report

Years before Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023 and started the latest war in the region, the terror group plotted other assaults, including a scheme to blow up a skyscraper in Tel Aviv while pressuring Iran to assist in its battle against the Jewish state, according to documents found by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, the Washington Post reported. The documents seized from Hamas command centers uncovered planning for the attacks using trains, boats and even horse-drawn chariots, according to the newspaper. The 59 pages of documents include an illustrated presentation detailing possible options for an attack as well as letters from Hamas to Iran’s top leaders in 2021 requesting hundreds of millions of dollars in funding and training for 12,000 additional Hamas fighters.”Hamas is so determined to wipe Israel and the Jewish people off the map that it managed to drag Iran into direct conflict — under conditions that Iran wasn’t prepared for,” an Israeli security official who has reviewed the letters and planning documents told the Post. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive documents seized by Israeli forces in Gaza.IRAN MAKING BILLIONS IN OIL REVENUES DESPITE SANCTIONS The move to release the documents comes as Israel could possibly retaliate against Iran after the Islamic Republic launched nearly 200 missiles on Oct. 1 in response to the killing of Hasan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah terrorist group. In the letters written in 2021, Hamas’s Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar appeals to several senior Iranian officials, including the country’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, for additional financial and military support, pledging that, with Iran’s backing, he could destroy Israel completely in two years.IDF MEETS LITTLE RESISTANCE FROM HEZBOLLAH AFTER WEEKS OF HITTING TERROR TARGETS, OFFICIALS SAY”We promise you that we will not waste a minute or a penny unless it takes us toward achieving this sacred goal,” states a June 2021 letter with apparent signatures by Sinwar as well as five other Hamas officials.Iran initially declined to directly involve itself in the war between Hamas and Israel after Oct. 7. However, the conflict has expanded as its proxies continue to attack Israel on multiple fronts. In a statement to Fox News Digital, the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran accused Israel of spreading false information. “We regard the Israeli regime as a mendacious criminal, anti-human entity and place no credence in their illusions,” a spokesman for the mission said. “They have a long history of spreading falsehoods, fabricating already-counterfeit documents, and conducting deceptive psychological operations.”US TO DEPLOY MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM, MILITARY PERSONNEL TO ISRAELSome plans seized by the Israel Defense Forces include a computer slide presentation showing a Hamas outpost in northern Gaza with options and scenarios for attacking Israel, with targets ranging from military command centers to shopping malls.Another described plans to destroy the Moshe Aviv Tower, a 70-story building in Tel Aviv that is Israel’s second tallest, as well as the Azrieli Center complex, which comprises three skyscrapers, a large shopping mall, train station and a cinema, according to the Post report. “Working to find a mechanism to destroy the tower,” the plan states. Other plans of attack included targeting Israel’s rail system and resurrecting horse-drawn carriages of antiquity as conveyances for fighters and weapons, the report said.

Afghan charged with Election Day terror plot raises questions, fears from lawmakers: ‘This is real’

Afghan charged with Election Day terror plot raises questions, fears from lawmakers: ‘This is real’

The arrest of an Afghan national accused of planning an Election Day terror plot is fueling concerns from congressional lawmakers that there could be more potential terror threats who arrived as part of the tens of thousands who came to the U.S. in the wake of the withdrawal from Afghanistan.”There was a vulnerability that was left that was able to be taken advantage of by, in this case, ISIS. It could be Taliban next time. It could be any other terrorist organization out there. And what I fear… is this is just one of probably tens, I wouldn’t say hundreds, but tens of more individuals that are in the same situation,” Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., told Fox News.Authorities announced last week the arrest of Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, an Afghan national who came to the U.S. in 2021 after the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Tawhedi is charged with conspiring and attempting to provide material support to ISIS and receiving a firearm to be used to commit a felony or a federal crime of terrorism. Authorities say he liquidated his family’s assets to finance his plan, including purchasing rifles and one-way tickets for his wife and child back to Afghanistan.MAYORKAS REFUSES TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ON AFGHAN ACCUSED OF ELECTION DAY TERROR PLOT”This defendant, motivated by ISIS, allegedly conspired to commit a violent attack, on Election Day, here on our homeland,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray in a statement. Court filings initially stated that he came on a special immigrant visa but have since clarified that he came to the U.S. via humanitarian parole and later applied for SIV status.A senior administration official told Fox News last week that Tawhedi was screened three times. He was screened first to work security for the CIA in Afghanistan, then for humanitarian parole to enter the U.S. in 2021, when he was vetted and screened in a third country, and then for special immigrant status, for which he was approved. His status has not yet been finalized. Officials believe he was radicalized after coming to the U.S.AFGHAN NATIONAL CHARGED WITH ELECTION DAY TERROR PLOT REIGNITES VETTING CONCERNS There is also no indication that there were any red flags that should have barred his entry at any point in the process. His alleged co-conspirator in the case entered the country in 2018 and also passed vetting to receive a green card.Tawhedi entered during the mass evacuation effort as the Taliban took back Afghanistan. The U.S. would go on to admit more than 97,000 evacuees, of which about 77,000 were admitted via humanitarian parole, through a program called Operation Allies Welcome. Republicans and the Homeland Security internal watchdog have repeatedly raised issues about the vetting process for Afghan nationals, and last week’s arrest has only served to refuel those concerns. “After the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan, we knew that there was no real vetting process of Afghan nationals coming into the United States. There were major concerns about potential terror plots to the homeland. This is the problem with the Harris-Biden administration,” Rep Byron Donalds, R-Fla., said. “No accountability, no serious planning, covering up crises that, frankly, happen in front of the eyes of the American people.”AFGHAN MAN IN OKLAHOMA PLOTTED ELECTION DAY TERROR ATTACK IN US ON BEHALF OF ISIS, JUSTICE DEPT SAYSThe Biden administration has repeatedly defended the vetting process, arguing that there is a multilayered process that includes classified and unclassified vetting, including against Pentagon and FBI databases as well as Interpol notices and other information. “Afghan evacuees who sought to enter the United States were subject to multi layered screening and vetting against intelligence, law enforcement, and counterterrorism information,” a DHS spokesperson said on Wednesday. “If new information emerges after arrival, appropriate action is taken.” The two senators from Oklahoma have both received briefings from the FBI on the matter. Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., also stressed the dangers facing the country.”This is real. And we have people that are trying to be able to kill us that are within our own country, they’re planning,” Lankford told Fox News. “An open border is a danger. We’ve seen that already, that we’re living on borrowed time through this moment.”Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich contributed to this report.

Border sheriff angered over Kamala Harris’ remark to ‘The View’: ‘Upsetting and insulting’

Border sheriff angered over Kamala Harris' remark to 'The View': 'Upsetting and insulting'

An Arizona sheriff is calling out Kamala Harris after the vice president said on “The View” that she would not change any of the policies enacted since President Biden took office. “When I hear that, it’s upsetting, it’s insulting, because we’ve seen the worst of the worst over the last three and a half years, tragedy after tragedy and children die, and you name it,” Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels said on “America’s Newsroom” Monday. Southwest border encounters under the Biden-Harris administration have gone up 241.5% compared to the Trump administration.TRUMP, HARRIS LOCKED IN DEAD HEAT IN 7 BATTLEGROUND STATES, POLL FINDS: ‘COULD NOT BE CLOSER’During a recent Univison townhall, Harris also defended her record on the border.”I was the top law enforcement officer of the biggest state in this country, California. That is also a border state. I have taken on transnational criminal organizations. I have taken on transnational criminal organizations that are trafficking guns, drugs and human beings. And I’ve prosecuted them. I will put my record up against anyone in terms of the work I have always done and will always do to ensure we have a secure border.”Dannels said he and others at the border have been “intellectually avoided and abandoned” by the Biden-Harris administration.”She asked me why, and I explained all that to her. We’ve done invites, and they never honor our invites as sheriffs. And to hear her say that now, if anything, she just says, hey, we could do a better job, say something to that effect,” said Dannels. “She just did a media clip where she said she wouldn’t change anything Biden did. That’s an insult to us here on the border. It truly is.”In comparison, Dannels said Trump “engaged, worked, and prioritized” border security and “made a difference.”Dannels said he is not surprised that former President Trump received the endorsement from the Border Patrol Union. “I haven’t found one agent to come up to me and say, ‘Sheriff, it’s working on the border.’ Just the opposite. Their morale is in the dirt. They’re looking for some hope and President Trump’s their hope.” During a rally in Arizona on Sunday, Trump told the crowd that he was “honored to receive… the endorsement” of the National Border Patrol Council.”It’s a great honor,” Trump said. “They said it was unanimous. Thousands of people.”He then invited Paul Perez, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, onto the stage.Perez said he had a message for everyone in the crowd.”If we allow border czar Harris to win this election, every city, every community in this great country is going to go to hell,” Perez said. “The untold millions of people, unvetted, who she has allowed into this country that are committing murders, rapes, robberies, burglaries and every other crime will continue to put our country in peril.”Only one man can fix that. That is Donald J. Trump,” he continued. “He has always stood with the men and women who protect this border, who put their lives on the line for the country.”Fox News’ Greg Wehner contributed to this report.
