Tensions allegedly rise between Biden White House and Harris campaign: ‘Too much in their feelings’

Tensions allegedly rise between Biden White House and Harris campaign: 'Too much in their feelings'

An Axios report alleged Sunday that there is growing tension and miscommunication between the White House and the Harris campaign.National political correspondent Alex Thompson reported “many senior Biden aides remain wounded by the president being pushed out of his re-election bid and are still adjusting to being in a supporting role on the campaign trail.””They’re too much in their feelings,” one Harris ally reportedly told Axios about the White House.Thompson wrote the main issue with some Harris campaign members is that White House aides “aren’t sufficiently coordinating Biden’s messaging and schedule to align with what’s best for the vice president’s campaign.”KAMALA HARRIS ALLIES RUSH TO PLAY DAMAGE CONTROL AMID WHITE HOUSE INFIGHTINGThompson cited recent conflicts such as President Biden holding an impromptu press conference on Friday while Vice President Kamala Harris was attending an event in Michigan. Another notable incident included Biden complimenting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for handling recent hurricanes shortly after Harris criticized DeSantis for not taking her calls. Thompson wrote a person familiar with the situation said Biden wasn’t briefed on Harris’ comments before praising DeSantis.”The White House is lacking someone in the room thinking first and foremost about how things would affect the campaign,” a Harris aide told Thompson.Despite “sore feelings” among some Biden aides, the report added that most of them are “actively rooting” for Harris to win. However, there is ongoing tension with some White House staffers transitioning to the Harris campaign, particularly Biden aides who feel “they’ve been labeled as disloyal by Biden’s team for leaving or even considering it.””On Harris’ campaign, there’s also awkwardness between some who were on Biden’s original campaign staff and the Harris allies who’ve been installed in recent weeks,” Thompson wrote. “In the weeks after Harris became the Democratic nominee, there were squabbles about whether Biden’s main surrogates on television would continue in those roles or if new faces would emerge, two people familiar with the matter told Axios.”BOOK SHOWS ALLEGED BIDEN-HARRIS DIVIDE SURFACED EARLIER THAN PREVIOUS PRESIDENT-VP RIFTS, SOME CRITICS SAYIn a comment to Fox News Digital, White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates said, “President Biden endorsed Vice President Harris immediately after leaving the race, rejecting other approaches that would divide the party, and has attested to her leadership abilities and continually made clear his support for her.” “While ensuring that all critical White House functions are fully staffed, we have made significant changes to guarantee the Vice President’s team has all of the support and resources that they need. This builds on a strong, trusting relationship between both teams, which has been critical to successfully executing an unprecedented transition to a new candidate,” Bates concluded. The Harris campaign has yet to respond to a request for comment.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Mom of New York girl who was kidnapped, rescued over 47 hours reflects on year since terrifying disappearance

Mom of New York girl who was kidnapped, rescued over 47 hours reflects on year since terrifying disappearance

During an early October camping trip with her family in upstate New York last year, Trisha Sena experienced every parent’s worst nightmare.Sena’s children were riding their bicycles along a loop around the lake on Oct. 3, 2023 – a Saturday – at Moreau Lake State Park when her 9-year-old daughter, Charlotte, disappeared.”Long story short, the role is, you go in pairs. You’re not allowed to go alone. They were riding bikes, and they wanted to come back,” Sena told Fox News Digital. “And Charlotte said, ‘I’m just going to go one more time.’ She didn’t tell anybody. Everybody pulled in, and she kept pedaling. And unfortunately, someone was there waiting on the other side of the loop.”A man, unknown to Charlotte, stopped her and asked her for help getting something in the back of his truck. She responded – as she was instructed to by her parents – that he was a grownup, and he could do it himself.CHILD WHO SURVIVED 47-HOUR ABDUCTION FROM STATE PARK CREDITED FOR AIRTIGHT CASE AGAINST CAPTOR”That is something that we talked about with our kids – that grownups don’t ask kids for help. They ask other grownups,” Sena said. “And he said, ‘My hands are too big. I can’t reach it in the back of my truck.’ So she decided to help him. And at that point, he pushed her in the back of his truck and drove by our campsite with Charlotte in the back… and she was gone for 47 hours.”When Sena realized her daughter was missing, which did not take long, she immediately called police, instinctively knowing that something was horribly wrong.KIDNAPPED GIRL RESCUED FROM CAMPER CABINET; KIDNAPPING SUSPECT BUSTED AFTER LEAVING RANSOM NOTE”In situations like this, every minute, every second counts when it comes to your reaction time,” she said. The following Monday, around 4:20 a.m., state police were watching Sena’s home when they witnessed a suspicious man drive up to the house and drop something in the family’s mailbox. It was a ransom note.WATCH: NEIGHBORS DESCRIBE POLICE SETTING UP NIGHT BEFORE DRAMATIC RAIDPolice immediately collected the note, which they ran for fingerprints, and took note of the vehicle details. A fingerprint on the note matched one in their system from a 1999 DWI arrest in Saratoga County. Authorities were soon able to identify and arrest the suspect. Later that same Monday, tactical teams stormed his mother’s double-wide trailer in Milton, just outside Saratoga Springs, where they located the suspect and Charlotte.‘HAMILTON’ FORMER CAST MEMBER MISSING, CAR FOUND ABANDONED NEAR NATIONAL PARK”Immediately, the little girl was found in a cabinet, covered. She was rescued,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said during a press conference at the time. The year since Charlotte’s kidnapping has been the “hardest year” of Sena’s life, but her family is working hard to move forward and be positive, she said.NEW YORK POLICE WERE HUNTING CHARLOTTE SUSPECT VEHICLE FOR HOURS BEFORE FINGERPRINTS CAME BACK”I could sit here and say it’s been a terrible year, and it’s been the hardest year of my life, which it has. But as a family, we’ve made a lot of progress moving forward. Charlotte has made a lot of progress moving forward,” she said.Sena and her sister, Jené Sena – Charlotte’s aunt – have turned a terrifying moment that rattled their entire family into a source of hope and change for families going through similar situations involving missing and abused children. They now co-host a podcast called “Sisterhood of the Survivors,” on which they “share their personal stories as they heal from this traumatic event in its aftermath, as well as the stories of others,” according to a description of the show. The Sena sisters have also advocated for commonsense updates to state and national Amber Alert laws, as well as a New York state bill called the Child Survivor Privacy Act, which aims to make the road to justice for child abuse survivors a shorter and easier one.The bill requires the FBI “to use a multidisciplinary team with investigations of child abuse and related crimes” and “reauthorizes grants for children’s advocacy centers (CACs),” which “use a multidisciplinary response to coordinate the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child abuse cases,” according to a summary of the legislation. It also requires the “FBI to use a multidisciplinary team with any investigation of child sexual exploitation or abuse, the production of child sexual abuse material, or child trafficking” and mandates the agency “also use a trained child adolescent forensic interviewer in these investigations.”Trisha Sena noted that her daughter had to retell her story on three different occasions, forcing the 9-year-old to relive her trauma, “even though there were one million pieces of evidence,” in order for prosecutors to get the statements they needed to bring the suspect in her case to justice. “Basically, you have to prove that someone committed a crime against you, even though there is DNA evidence, maybe there was someone that saw you being taken, whatever the case may be,” Trisha Sena said. “… I feel like, as a whole, we need to do a better job protecting these kids.”Retelling stories of abuse may deter some children from speaking up about their experience, she noted.FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON XAdditionally, Trisha and Jené are advocating for stronger sentences for child abusers.”We actually… had a meeting with some important people in the governor’s office… and we said, ‘Can we do something about that?’ I mean, these people who commit crimes against children are getting out in six months, or they’re getting off with time served.… And it’s not protecting our children by allowing them back out on the streets,” Jené said.Trisha noted that her daughter will have to live with what happened when she was 9 “for the rest of her life,” while child abusers like the man in her case are given opportunities to be released from prison after serving their sentences.”It’s just wrong,” Trisha said.Craig Nelson Ross was 47 years old at the time of his arrest. While he could have served 111 years for the crimes he was accused of, he was sentenced to serve 47 years as part of a plea deal.

Menendez brothers ‘deserve a break,’ says ex-mob boss who spent months with them in prison

Menendez brothers 'deserve a break,' says ex-mob boss who spent months with them in prison

Famed mobster-turned-mentor Michael Franzese spent 11 months in solitary confinement with Lyle Menendez in a Los Angeles County federal correctional institution.Lyle and his brother, Eric Menedez, were serving life in prison after they were convicted of gunning down their parents at their Beverly Hills mansion in 1989, though they were eventually separated into different prisons after being accused of trying to escape together.”They were definitely abused. I mean, they told me things about their dad, and more disappointment with their mom because she didn’t step in and help, and she was ruled by the dad,” Michael Franzese, who had been serving time in the federal facility for a parole violation charge before the case was resolved, told Fox News Digital. “Just from my conversations with [the Menendez brothers] — and I take everything with a grain of salt because you never know if somebody’s telling you the truth or not — but . . . I believe that the abuse was real and that they were scared.”The Menendez case has garnered renewed attention after the release of two Netflix productions — a nonfiction documentary called “The Menendez Brothers” and a fictionalized TV series based on true events, titled “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” — between September and October. Both productions detail the brothers’ abuse allegations against their parents.WATCH FOX NATION’S ‘MENENDEZ BROTHERS: VICTIMS OR VILLAINS’The brothers have also been seeking reduced sentences after spending more than 30 years in prison, and their family has been backing them up. Lyle was 21 at the time of his parents’ murders, and Eric was 18. “They’ve done 30 some odd years in prison. You know, they’re in their 50s now. You know, I think they deserve a break,” Franzese, a former member of the Columbo crime family, said. “They’ve been model prisoners from everything that I’ve understood. They’re married. Erik has a child, a daughter. I think they’ve done enough time. And I think there’s more. This is more of a manslaughter conviction than anything else.” SIGN UP TO GET TRUE CRIME NEWSLETTER”I think they deserve a break,” he added later on. Franzese’s cell at the Los Angeles County jail was located next to Lyle’s in solitary confinement, he said. Their cells were barred off, but they could speak to each other and “even see each other quite a bit” due to mirrors in the walkway between cells, he said.MENENDEZ BROTHERS, CONVICTED OF KILLING PARENTS, DEFENDED BY RELATIVES AS THEY FIGHT FOR FREEDOMThe Menendez brothers detailed some of the alleged abuse endured from his father to Franzese, who empathized with the young convicts. “I said, why didn’t you go and tell your family? And they said, ‘Well, my dad ruled the family, and he would find out that we told him that, and then I’d really be in trouble. God knows what he would do. It’d be worse,” Franzese recalled. “And I said, what about law enforcement? . . . I was giving them all the alternatives to doing what they did. And they said, ‘No, you don’t know. My dad is a very powerful guy. He’s got very powerful friends, and we were just afraid to go to anybody. We had to endure it.'”GET REAL TIME UPDATES DIRECTLY ON THE TRUE CRIME HUB The former mob boss emphasized that the abuse does not justify murder, but he does believe manslaughter charges should have been on the table for the brothers rather than first-degree murder, and their abuse allegations should have played a larger role in court proceedings.”The boys expressed to me that they loved their dad. Their Dad was their hero. They didn’t even know what they were going to do without their dad even after all of this happened,” Franzese said to emphasize how conflicted the brothers felt about their actions and convictions.MENENDEZ BROTHERS, CONVICTED OF KILLING PARENTS, DEFENDED BY RELATIVES AS THEY FIGHT FOR FREEDOMThe brothers’ attorneys have argued that they should have been convicted of manslaughter rather than murder, in which case, they already would have been released from prison.”The Menendez Brothers” premiered on Oct. 7. The film’s creators promised to “offer another perspective — that of the brothers themselves, provided in all-new audio interviews,” according to a press release. It also details the brothers’ allegations that their father had sexually assaulted them.

Catholics hold ‘Rosary Rally’ outside Gretchen Whitmer’s house after Doritos video sparks backlash

Catholics hold 'Rosary Rally' outside Gretchen Whitmer’s house after Doritos video sparks backlash

A group of Catholics held a Rosary Rally outside the home of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Sunday, after the Democrat sparked backlash with a Doritos video that critics alleged made mockery of a sacred Christian rite. The “Rosary Rally for Religious Respect” was organized by CatholicVote. The rally comes in response to a controversial social media video in which Gov. Whitmer wore a Harris-Walz campaign hat and fed Doritos to a kneeling liberal podcaster named Liz Plank. The video followed a TikTok trend whereby someone, acting in a sensual manner, is fed by another person who stares uncomfortably into the camera while “Dilemma” by Nelly and Kelly Rowland plays in the background. MICHIGAN CATHOLIC BISHOPS CONDEMN WHITMER’S DORITOS VIDEO STUNT AS OFFENSIVEThe bizarre clip was intended to spotlight the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act that allocated nearly $53 billion towards efforts to bring semiconductor supply chains back to the U.S. But religious groups felt the clip made a mockery of the sacrament of Holy Communion. The Democratic governor apologized in response to the backlash, insisting the video was not meant to mock people of faith. Whitmer told FOX 2 that in more than 25 years of public service, “I would never do something to denigrate someone’s faith.” “I’ve used my platform to stand up for people’s right to hold and practice their personal religious beliefs,” Whitmer said. CNN AVOIDS ASKING GRETCHEN WHITMER ABOUT BIZARRE VIRAL DORITOS VIDEOOn Sunday, a group of around 100 Catholics recited the rosary in front of the governor’s residence near Moores River Drive in the Michigan capital of Lansing. One of the participants told The Lansing State Journal she participated because of the governor’s “blasphemous and offensive video mocking the Holy Eucharist.” “It’s our most sacred sacrament,” she said. “So, we came to pray. We came to pray for her, and we are also praying out of mercy to pray for our Lord.” MICHIGAN GOV. WHITMER SAYS PEOPLE SHOULDN’T ‘GIVE A DAMN’ IF TAYLOR SWIFT IS FRIENDS WITH BRITTANY MAHOMESCatholicVote National Political Director told Fox News Digital that Sunday’s rally was motivated by “deep concern over recent actions that undermine the dignity of the Eucharist and the rising tide of anti-Catholic sentiment promoted by some in the progressive left. “We find it profoundly troubling that our faith and its sacred beliefs are so openly mocked. As Catholics, we believe in the power of prayer, especially for our nation’s leaders. Our rally served as a call for the conversion of Governor Whitmer’s heart and mind, urging her to recognize and respect our religious convictions,” Church said. “We also hope this serves as a reminder to our elected officials that Catholics vote.” Republican State Rep. Josh Schriver of Oxford wrote a post on X promoting the “Rosary Rally for Religious Respect.” Fox News Digital has reached out to the governor’s office for a response to the rally. Fox News Digital’s Landon Mion contributed to this report.
