Cringeworthy pro-Harris ad showcasing male support features professional actors

Cringeworthy pro-Harris ad showcasing male support features professional actors

A new and viral political video featuring men declaring they are “man enough” to support Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign is stacked with Hollywood actors and comedians. A grassroots ad published last week by a former producer for Jimmy Kimmel has racked up millions of views on social media as critics lambaste the video supporting Harris as “the cringiest political ad ever created.” The director behind the video said it was made for a group called Creatives for Harris, adding that even while the video is tongue in cheek, the message of the video “is true.” The video was not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee, according to a disclaimer in the 90-second video, but is shot as if it’s an official campaign ad.It features six alleged manly men who claim they are so masculine that they eat “carburetors for breakfast” and aren’t “afraid of bears,” while saying they also don’t fear women and will support Harris for the Oval Office.’MAN ENOUGH’ VIDEO SUPPORTING HARRIS MOCKED AS ‘THE CRINGIEST POLITICAL AD EVER CREATED’The video was slammed by conservatives and other critics on social media, who questioned last week if the video was a parody and claimed Democrats “have no idea how actual men speak.”FOX Business senior correspondent Charles Gasparino, for example, remarked, “It’s so bizarre that those on the political left, who for years proselytized the hoi poi that men can be women and women can be men, that men can compete in women’s sports because we are all genderless creatures, now think they have credibility to say what a real man is all about. Sorry you blew it years ago.””Must-see Kamala ad,” Claremont Institute fellow David Reaboi quipped. “Not only do they have no idea how actual men speak, they couldn’t find any convincing male actors.”The original YouTube page for the video details that the men who appear in the unofficial ad are cast members for the video, listing the actors’ names: Winston Carter, Chris Gibson, Lanre Idewu, Tony Ketcham, Mike Leffingwell and Wayland McQueen. Fox News Digital found IMDB pages for the actors, with most appearing in bit roles for Hollywood films or starring in low-budget films or short videos. Winston Carter, the actor who played a heavyset man in a cowboy hat, for example, has performed in a handful of low-budget movies and short videos going back to 2011, according to his IMDB page. Actor Tony Ketcham, who plays the elderly man who is unashamed of his love of “West Side Story” and support of Harris, also has an IMDB page showing credits for bit parts in movies such as “Ghost World,” where he played the role of “alcoholic customer” in the 2001 film, and an episode of the “X-Files” that same year. Lanre Idewu, in the video, plays the gym-going guy who is “man enough to deadlift 500, and then braid the s— out of” his daughter’s hair. He has an extensive IMDB page with credits from a 2006 episode of “Arrested Development” to working as a producer on a Christmas Hallmark movie. Idewu has also posted photos to his social media pages with Democratic elected officials, including President Biden and first lady Jill Biden.  GOP GAINS VOTER ADVANTAGE IN KEY COUNTY NEAR BIDEN BIRTHPLACETwo of the actors in the video are members of the Upright Citizens Brigade, an improvisational comedy group, in Los Angeles. Wayland McQueen played the role of a farming-type man surrounded by bales of hay and is listed as a current member of the comedy brigade, where he’s performed since 2008. Social media users who also investigated the actors in the ad found McQueen has reportedly tweeted about identifying and acknowledging “white privilege.”Mike Leffingwell, who declares in the unofficial campaign ad while standing next to a horse that he’s “sure as s— not afraid” of women, is another member of the Upright Citizens Brigade, according to the comedy group’s website. His bio on the page reads, in part, Leffingwell “has written cartoons for Dreamworks and Netflix, jokes for the Onion and The Late Late Show, and a series of Shorty Award-winning commercials for Tubi. On TV he has appeared on The Goldbergs, Conan, and commercials for many exciting products.”MAHER SAYS ELECTION ‘NOT LOOKING THAT GREAT’ FOR HARRIS, MOCKS NEED TO HAVE OBAMA ‘SCOLD’ BLACK MEN ON VOTINGThe sixth man listed as an actor for the video, Chris Gibson, also appears to be an actor, with Fox Digital finding a handful of IMDB pages touting actors with that name, but could not confirm which allegedly belongs to the man in the ad. GROWING NUMBER OF GEN Z MEN SUPPORTING TRUMP REPRESENTS ‘ONGOING CULTURE SHOCK’ IN US POLITICS, VOTER SAYSSome social media users pointed out over the weekend that the video featured actors playing manly men who support Harris, sparking a new round of criticisms online. “The campaign is so fake, they even have to fake the fake enthusiasm. They’re so bad at this. Do they honestly not know that The Google exists? Wow,” one X account posted in response to a thread detailing the actors in the video. “This explains why Progressives don’t know what a real male is,” another posted. “Everything they do is fake,” another said. The ad was created by Jacob Reed, who has worked as director for “Funny or Die” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” He told Fast Company last week that the ad was made for Creatives for Harris, which is a grassroots group of producers, writers and ad executives who support Harris. Reed wrote on Substack that the video is “more sketch comedy than political ad,” before adding that “what these men are saying is true.””With the rise of role models like Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff on the national stage, I think the left is finally finding its footing on how to talk about masculinity — I think we’re overdue for a redefinition of what it means to be a man in America and I hope this campaign can start to shape that conversation. Because even though it’s more sketch comedy than political ad, what these men are saying is true – except being afraid of bears. A bear will straight-up kill you,” Reed posted, describing those who worked on the project as “volunteers.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPFox News Digital attempted to contact the actors via their social media accounts or by email on Sunday, but did not immediately receive replies. Fox News Digital also reached out to Reed by email, but did not receive a response. Get the latest updates from the 2024 campaign trail, exclusive interviews and more at our Fox News Digital election hub.

Iran making billions in oil revenues under Biden admin as expert slams sanctions policy for lack of ‘pressure’

Iran making billions in oil revenues under Biden admin as expert slams sanctions policy for lack of 'pressure'

Iran has increased its oil exports during the Biden administration despite severe and heavy sanctions imposed by the U.S. government, according to a new report. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) issued its annual report on Iranian petroleum and petroleum product exports, finding that Iran made between $53 billion to $54 billion in 2022 and 2023 – significant increases over $37 billion made in 2021 and $16 billion made in 2020. The EIA report is mandated by Congress. The 2020 revenue marked a low point since 2018, when Iran earned $65 billion in nominal revenue, based on calculations derived from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) website. The report’s main takeaway is that China has provided Iran a significant export partner, allowing it to bypass sanctions and continue to rake in profits from its energy exports. AMERICA FIRST ENERGY STRATEGY STARTS WITH THIS SAFE, CLEAN AND RELIABLE RESOURCEThe Trump administration maintained a policy of “maximum pressure” against Iran, hitting each of its industries and manufacturing sectors with significant sanctions against companies and individuals alike to drive the country to economic ruin. The BBC in 2019 found that Iran had entered a “deep recession” and that oil exports “plummeted” as a result of Trump’s policies. The Biden administration meanwhile sought to appease Iran with a series of sanctions waivers that officials argued would incentivize Tehran to sit down and agree to a renewed nuclear deal, which never materialized. Meanwhile, the Biden administration continued to issue waivers such as those issued for Iraq to purchase energy from Iran – waivers started under the Trump administration but maintained by Biden even as Iran’s allies and proxies in the Middle East started to hit Israel. “The numbers here don’t lie,” former Trump NSC official Richard Goldberg told Fox News Digital. “I’ve always said the Biden administration has had a strategic communications policy, not a sanctions policy… there’s no active campaign to stop these shipments, to really put the pressure up on both China and other shipment points, and it’s quite obvious from the numbers. A Reuters report in 2023 found that “appetite for Iranian crude is growing in China,” which stands as the world’s “biggest oil importer.” The oil’s heavily discounted price due to sanctions might serve as the main attraction for Iran’s product, and the EIA report notes that it cannot account for discounts in its data.Iran’s 2023 export of 1.5 million barrels per day (bpd) stands as the country’s “highest in more than four years, with more than 80% shipped to China,” Reuters reported, citing consultancies FGE and Vortexa.  HOUSE GOP TARGETS BIDEN ‘SOCIAL COST’ POLICY FOR RISING ENERGY PRICESSome critics have argued that the revenue is not a fully accurate measure since the price of oil fluctuates based on a number of factors, and the last few years have seen a surge in pricing that roughly correlates with the Iranian revenues. When Iran made $16 billion in 2020, oil per barrel was priced at $39.68; when Iran made over $50 billion a year, oil per barrel was priced at $94.43 and $82.95. Goldberg, a senior advisor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, acknowledged that fluctuating prices do make it difficult to gauge the true level of exports from Iran, but knowing that the revenues have gone up as the discounts have either remained or increased due to U.S. sanctions would counterbalance any price drop.”That’s very difficult to account for because you just don’t know what the Chinese are actually paying because it’s illicit, there’s risk involved in the cargo, therefore Iran has to charge at a discount,” Goldberg said. “When you go to the export numbers, particularly to China – I mean, to go from 300,000 barrels per day to 1.2 million, that is breathtaking,” Goldberg said. “That is not sanctions evasion. That is an active policy of allowing shipments.”HARRIS CLAIMS AD QUOTING HER 2019 VOW TO BAN FRACKING IS ‘MISCHARACTERZITION’ TO MAKE PEOPLE ‘AFRAID’ OF HERThe EIA noted that access to trusted data remains scarce, and its reporting relied on the NIOC and other third-party sources, but stressed that the EIA uses only sources and data that it has “reasonably high confidence” in their estimates. “Because of challenges with data availability and transparency, nearly all the petroleum and petroleum product data presented in this report are estimates rather than actual data,” the report said, later adding, “Data are subject to change as new information becomes available.””Although price data are available on a real-time or near-real-time basis, actual pricing data pertaining to sales of Iranian crude oil are opaque, requiring estimation methods and proxy variables to derive estimates of revenues,” the report said. The report treats destinations in South East Asia (specifically Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam) as misdirections for Chinese imports as a means of sidestepping issues with U.S. sanctions. On Friday, the State Department along with the Treasury Department issued new sanctions on Iran’s energy sector in response to Iran’s most recent attack on Israel, The statement read in part, “This action intensifies financial pressure on Iran, limiting the regime’s ability to earn critical energy revenues to undermine stability in the region and attack U.S. partners and allies. The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, is identifying the petroleum and petrochemical sectors of the Iranian economy.”According to Reuters, national security adviser Jake Sullivan said in a statement about the sanctions that, “The new designations today also include measures against the ‘Ghost Fleet’ that carries Iran’s illicit oil to buyers around the world.” Vice President Kamala Harris’ spokesperson and the State Department did not respond to a Fox News Digital request for comment. Reuters contributed to this report.

Tim Walz clarifies stance after saying electoral college ‘needs to go’: ‘Every vote counts in every place’

Tim Walz clarifies stance after saying electoral college 'needs to go': 'Every vote counts in every place'

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz pushed back against the notion that his recent remarks about abolishing the electoral college would mean disregarding rural voices, challenging the criticism by urging for a campaign approach that values the votes of every American, regardless of geography.”[People] have to feel [that] every vote counts in every place of the country,” he told Fox News’ Shannon Bream on Sunday.”I think what the point was on this is they see us in battleground states and not across the country, so the campaign’s position is clear on this. That’s not to get rid of the Electoral College, but it’s to focus on every vote, and I think your viewers out there listening want to see these campaigns in every corner, talking to every person,” he continued.TIM WALZ CALLS FOR ELIMINATION OF ELECTORAL COLLEGE AT CALIFORNIA FUNDRAISER, SAYS ‘IT NEEDS TO GO’The Minnesota Democrat formerly remarked that the electoral college “needs to go” and called for a national popular vote during a California fundraiser at Gov. Gavin Newsom’s private home in Sacramento. The Harris campaign took a different position, however.Walz has since backpedaled on his remark by aligning his stance with the campaign’s, telling ABC host Michael Strahan, “I have spoken about it in the past, that she’s been very clear on this, and the campaign and my position is the campaign’s position.”In 2023, the Minnesota Democrat signed the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, an agreement in which each state would allocate all its electoral votes to whoever wins the popular vote for president, regardless of how individual states voted. TIM WALZ BACKPEDALS STATEMENT THAT THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE ‘NEEDS TO GO’Bream also pressed Walz over his changing relationship with the NRA and his running mate Vice President Harris’ previously touted stance on private gun ownership, which implied that warrantless searches for firearms inside legal gun owners’ homes could be confiscated.”No one’s talking about that,” he replied. “And I was with my guns yesterday out pheasant hunting with my friends, many of them conservatives on this, and I just want to be clear on this – the NRA is an organization that I grew up with, was about gun safety. There has been a dramatic shift, and I don’t think anybody can argue where the NRA went, especially on things that we can’t even do research on gun violence, and I’ve made it clear that sitting with the Sandy Hook parents, sitting with some of these kids who were in schools where there were school shootings and having friends that were around these things, had a profound impact on me.”He continued, “Look, I will defend the Second Amendment, and there’s nothing that we’re proposing, whether it’s extreme risk protection orders or background checks, that will stop you from owning that, and I think we’re talking about things like trigger locks and things that responsible gun owners do anyway. This is a red herring issue that we can own guns, protect the Second Amendment, and then our first responsibility is protect our children in society, and I know we can do that.”Fox News’ Greg Wehner contributed to this report.
