Taylor Swift fans side with Caitlin Clark after Angel Reese interviews Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend

Taylor Swift fans side with Caitlin Clark after Angel Reese interviews Travis Kelce's ex-girlfriend

Caitlin Clark may have just won over more Taylor Swift fans than Kamala Harris has. And Clark didn’t have to ask for any of it. A viral resurfacing of a social media post Clark sent when she was in college has made her the latest worshiped ally of the Swift army. The post originally came right after Swift went public with her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce. Clark welcomed Swift to the Chiefs’ fan family. Clark has said she is a lifelong Chiefs fan having grown up in suburban Iowa. “Taylor Swift welcome to the good side,” Clark wrote Sept. 24, 2023, in a post on X with the hashtag “Chiefs Kingdom.”CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMIn the last 24 hours, multiple Taylor Swift fan pages across social media have recirculated Clark’s tweet after a controversial podcast episode hosted by Clark’s archrival, Angel Reese. Reese hosted a woman named Kayla Nicole, who is a promotional model, media personality, on-air host and entertainment journalist popular on Instagram with more than 797,000 followers. It’s a following that has been growing rapidly since the episode was posted Thursday, after Nicole went into personal detail about her romantic relationship with Kelce in the past and its heavy aftermath.”We’ve seen each other in public spaces before, but it’s — I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation that there’s just no room really for us to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy,” Nicole said of Kelce and his new relationship with Swift. Nicole also claimed she has received hate for the relationship ever since Kelce began to date Swift instead of her. “I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos doesn’t impact me,” Nicole said. “It does, even to this day. You can go to my most recent post, and it will be people debating each other why I am worthless, and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career.”The comments have ignited a widely debated controversy on social media, with some defending Nicole and sympathizing with her for the alleged hate she has received. However, others, and many who openly identify as Swift fans, have been critical of Nicole for a variety of reasons. Many of those same Swift fans declared themselves fans of Clark in her ongoing women’s basketball rivalry against Reese. Clark and Reese have been transcendent figures in women’s basketball, linked to one another since they first met in the 2023 NCAA women’s basketball championship. Reese famously mocked Clark at the end of that game when her LSU Tigers defeated Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes for the title, pointing to her finger in a taunting fashion to remind her who was getting the ring. This sparked outrage from Clark’s immense fan base, including Bartstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who called Reese “a piece of s—” in a widely circulated X post after Reese’s gesture in the championship game.Clark and Reese have never acknowledged that there is a “feud” between them and have only made respectful comments about one another in interviews and press conferences. However, fans of the stars have been notorious for attacking one another on social media since that game in 2023. INSIDE CAITLIN CLARK AND ANGEL REESE’S IMPACT ON MEN’S BASKETBALLReese has said Clark’s fans have sent her death threats and made explicit AI images of her and sent them to her family. “I think it’s really just the fans, her fans, the Iowa fans, now the Indiana fans, that are really just, they ride for her, and I respect that, respectfully. But sometimes it’s very disrespectful. I think there’s a lot of racism when it comes to it,” Reese said. Her latest episode drew debate. Criticism against Reese for hosting Kelce’s ex, prompted a response from Reese Friday afternoon. “Hating pays too,” Reese wrote in a post on X with emoji of painting toenails. The episode has attracted significant attention in the last day, which Reese will profit from as the podcast host. Nicole isn’t the first victim of hate comments from Swift fans either. Swift fans famously attacked another woman who was famous for a relationship with a Chiefs star player. Brittany Mahomes, the wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was the subject of a viral backlash for liking a post from Donald Trump’s Instagram account Aug. 13. The post outlined the former president’s 2024 policy agenda. Swift fans were familiar with Mahomes for her friendship with Swift when they attended Chiefs games to watch Patrick Mahomes and Kelce play. But many of those same Swift fans recirculated screenshots of Mahomes’ like of the post, which made her the target of online attacks that she addressed multiple times through more Instagram posts. It thrust Mahomes and her husband into the national political conversation. After Swift endorsed Kamala Harris Sept. 10, Trump said he liked Brittany Mahomes more than Swift in a Fox News interview Sept. 11. Patrick publicly commended his wife after Trump’s comments that same day but refused to endorse a political candidate. Swift’s initial endorsement of Harris also drew a response from Clark, who liked Swift’s Instagram post that announced the endorsement statement. When asked why Clark liked that post, the basketball star did not endorse Harris but said she wanted to use her platform to encourage Americans to vote. As more Swift fans turn to Clark after Reese’s interview, they will be joining a fan base that has been widely debated as well. Some WNBA players, including Reese and Connecticut Sun player Alyssa Thomas, have accused the Indiana Fever fan base of racism, while Sun player DiJonai Carrington called the Fever fans “the nastiest fans in the [WNBA].” Clark has said some of her team’s fans are not fans during the Fever’s exit interviews Sept. 27. “Those aren’t fans. Those are trolls,” Clark said. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

If Romeo Doubs had another shot, he says, he would have done the right thing. The Green Bay Packers wide receiver missed two practices last week and reportedly was upset about his role with the team. The missed practices prompted the team to suspend him for its game Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMBut Doubs showed regret while speaking with reporters Friday.”I absolutely wish I would’ve handled things differently,” he said.Doubs said he had “some things going on mentally” away from the field but that he did not “feel comfortable getting too deep into that.””I’m just thankful that I’m still here. It’s a great staff, great players and great support,” he said.Doubs admitted he needs to “communicate better” with the team. Malik Nabers faces backlash Giants star was spotted at concert following concussion diagnosis

It hasn’t taken long for New York Giants rookie Malik Nabers to show why he was one of the first wide receivers selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. The No. 6 overall pick’s 35 catches through four games leads the league. But Sunday will mark the second consecutive game that the star wide out will miss due to a head injury. On Friday, the Giants officially ruled out Nabers for New York’s Sunday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals.Although Nabers has not been able to practice for the past couple of weeks, he did recently spend some time enjoying a concert at the Giants home stadium in New Jersey.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMA video surfaced on social media showing Nabers entering one of the stadium’s tunnels as security personnel held some concert attendees back.Nabers was one of an estimated 60,000 fans who watched Hip-Hop star Travis Scott perform in support of his “Utopia” album in East Rutherford. “Utopia” became the best-selling rap album of 2023.NFL GREAT BELIEVES PANIC IN JETS’ ORGANIZATION PLAYED A ROLE IN ROBERT SALEH’S FIRINGWhile it is unclear where exactly Nabers was on his road to recovery, loud music and bright lights can often worsen concussion symptoms. But, the coach stopped short of divulging any details. “I’ll keep that in house,” he said.Nabers has racked up 386 receiving yards and has three touchdowns so far this season. The person delivering the football to Nabers, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, has been largely efficient this season. Nick Saban on Tua Tagovailoa’s potential retirement after repeated brain injuries: ‘I hate it’

Nick Saban on Tua Tagovailoa's potential retirement after repeated brain injuries: 'I hate it'

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s NFL future remains uncertain after he sustained his third concussion in three years in Week 2. Tagovailoa was placed on injured reserve Sept. 17 after he did not clear the NFL’s concussion protocols. Pro athlete peers and media pundits have called on Tagovailoa to retire for the sake of his health and life. Now, his college coach has given insight into his discussions with the quarterback over his NFL future. Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke about Tagovailoa’s recovery and future during an interview with Pat McAfee Friday. “I talked to Tua. He seemed to be (good),” Saban said. “I talked to him right afterwards. You know, he’s good. He’s always positive and, you know, very enthusiastic. Terry (Saban’s wife) talks to his mom a lot. You know, they want prayers from everybody out there to try to help him, you know, get well. He really wants to play. Whether he can ever play or get the opportunity to again, I guess that’s a medical decision somebody has to make.” CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMSaban revealed Tagovailoa’s situation and concerns for his brain health and career have had an emotional effect on the former coach. “But, you know, Tua is the best. I mean, and I hate it, I hate it for him, because he’s such a good person who does everything the right way. He’s the only player that I’ve ever had that if you ask him, ‘How are you doing today?’ He says, ‘Great, Coach. Thanks for asking.’ I mean, every time. The guy is just phenomenal. You love to see people like that, you know, have success and not have this kind of adversity, but hopefully he’ll be able to overcome it.”On Sept. 12, Tagovailoa was hit by Bills safety Damar Hamlin during a game against the Buffalo Bills, collapsed to the turf in pain and showed signs of a traumatic brain injury, according to multiple experts. Tagovailoa’s history of brain injuries includes two in the span of one month in the 2022 season. Tagovailoa’s arms froze in what neurologists refer to as the “fencing response,” a sign of head trauma.TUA TAGOVAILOA’S RETIREMENT COULD COST DOLPHINS $124 MILLION AFTER GM RELIED ON JIUJITSU TO END HIS CONCUSSIONSHis third concussion prompted cries from former NFL players to retire, including former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, Super Bowl champion kicker Lawrence Tynes of the New York Giants and Broncos Hall of Famer and current ESPN host Shannon Sharpe. It is possible the team’s trainers and doctors will eventually clear Tagovailoa to return to the field. If this happens, he would need to make the decision whether to keep playing. There is also a possibility doctors won’t clear him to return. If Tagovailoa is not able to pass concussion protocols for a third time in his NFL career, he could be forced to retire. If he retires, the Dolphins would have to pay out a huge chunk of his $212.4 million contract. The contract, signed in July by Dolphins general manager Chris Grier, includes $167 million in guarantees. Tagovailoa has already made $43 million of that salary, and if he’s medically forced into retirement, he has a right to collect the remaining $124 million. However, if he’s cleared to return and chooses to retire anyway, he would forfeit that guaranteed money. He and the team would have to come to a settlement in that case. The contract was signed well after his three previous concussions and even after he admitted he considered retirement the prior offseason. But Grier said during a team press conference Feb. 28 he wasn’t concerned about the quarterback’s concussion history. Grier cited offseason jiujitsu training as the remedy for the quarterback’s concussion concerns. “The one thing Tua did was he attacked the offseason wanting to prove that he could stay healthy. Spending the time learning to fall, with the jiujitsu and stuff, it paid off for him,” he said. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said he and the team were also “comfortable” with jiujitsu being the solution to preventing their quarterback’s concussions. “It’s something that we had various ideas, some of which I won’t repeat because they weren’t as good as that one. We were willing to go to any length,” McDaniel said during a team press conference Feb. 28. McDaniel told reporters this week the quarterback will meet with brain health experts during the team’s bye week because he still hasn’t cleared concussion protocol. When asked if the team has been advised to hold Tagovailoa out longer even after he’s been cleared to return, McDaniel said he has received “nothing negative” from experts.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

NYC pursuing thousands of hotel rooms to house migrants amid multibillion-dollar costs: report

NYC pursuing thousands of hotel rooms to house migrants amid multibillion-dollar costs: report

New York City reportedly wants 14,000 hotel rooms to house migrants through next year as the sanctuary city continues to spend billions on the fallout from the border crisis. The New York Post reported the city’s use of hotels to house migrants will continue despite a significant drop in migrant encounters at the southern border, and the Department of Homeless Services is seeking a contract with hotels to provide a total of 14,000 rooms to shelter migrants. The Post reported that spending on housing over a three-year period will surpass $2.3 billion, with most of that spent on rent for hotels. Spending on the migrant crisis is expected exceed $5 billion, and Mayor Eric Adams has previously said costs could balloon to over $10 billion by the end of next fiscal year. Previous estimates had put that number even higher.NEW YORK CITY MIGRANT CRISIS COSTS EXPECTED TO EXCEED $5B IN TWO-YEAR PERIOD – DOUBLE TO $10B BY 2025At an average of $352 per night for at least 36,939 households, the city has previously projected it will spend $4.75 billion providing shelter, food, health care and education to the influx of migrants during the 2025 fiscal year, according to the current forecast by the city’s online asylum seeker funding tracker. In August, the city announced two new contracts totaling $40 million for contractors to service migrants at hotels used as emergency shelters. As numbers surged at the border in 2021 and 2022, tens of thousands of migrants traveled to major blue cities like New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia. They were aided in 2022 when Texas Gov. Greg Abbott began bussing migrants straight to those cities as a way to relieve the pressure on the border state. He chose sanctuary cities — cities that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement — because he said they encouraged the crisis. There were scenes of hundreds of migrants camped outside the Roosevelt Hotel during the height of the crisis. New York City officials now say over 218,000 migrants have received services in NYC since 2022.MAN STABBED AT NYC MIGRANT ENCAMPMENT BY RANDALL’S ISLAND SHELTER WEEKS AFTER DEADLY SHOOTING NEARBYOfficials say they have helped complete more than 72,000 applications for work permits, temporary protected status and asylum. The city has also bought 47,000 tickets to help migrants go to other parts of the country. CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMMIGRATION COVERAGEAt the peak of the crisis, the city was taking in an average of 4,000 migrants per week. But that dropped into the hundreds in recent months as the crisis at the border abated after a presidential proclamation from President Biden that limited asylum claims. The Post reported more than 700 new migrants arrived in the city last week. This week, the city announced it would be closing a massive tent shelter on Randall’s Island. Officials said the number of asylum seekers in city shelters has dropped for 14 straight weeks and now is at the lowest point in over a year.Fox News’ Danielle Wallace contributed to this report.
