US on alert for possible ‘violent extremist activity’ on Americans one year after Oct. 7

US on alert for possible 'violent extremist activity' on Americans one year after Oct. 7

The U.S. is on high alert for possible attacks on American Jewish communities one year after Hamas staged the largest attack on Jews since the Holocaust. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security and FBI on Friday warned that the grim milestone since the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel could motivate some people to engage in violence within the United States. In a public service announcement, federal authorities said the anniversary may motivate extremists and others to engage in hate crimes and provoke violence. “Over the past year, we have observed violent extremist activity and hate crimes in the United States linked to the conflict,” the PSA states. “Jewish, Muslim, or Arab institutions—including synagogues, mosques/Islamic centers, and community centers—and large public gatherings, such as memorials, vigils, or other lawful demonstrations, present attractive targets for violent attacks or for hoax threats by a variety of threat actors, including violent extremists and hate crime perpetrators.”The PSA added that bad actors may “view” the Oct. 7 “anniversary as an opportunity to conduct an attack or other high-profile, illegal activity,” and foreign terrorist organizations or “other violent extremists likely will continue to exploit narratives related to the conflict to call for lone attackers to conduct violence in the United States.”ISRAEL STRIKES WITHIN LEBANON AFTER HEZBOLLAH BALLISTIC MISSILE FORCES MILLIONS IN TEL AVIV INTO BOMB SHELTERSHamas killed 1,200 people and kidnapped hundreds of hostages during its brazen Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack on the Jewish state. The offensive sparked the ongoing war between Israel and the terror group. The war has since widened to include Hezbollah, an Iranian-proxy, which has launched rockets and missiles into northern Israel from its base in neighboring Lebanon for nearly a year in solidarity with Hamas. The Israelis responded by conducting airstrikes in Lebanon, taking out key Hezbollah leaders, as well as a ground operation launched this week. KIRBY SLAMS HAMAS CHIEF SINWAR AS ‘THE MAJOR OBSTACLE’ TO CEASE-FIRE, HOSTAGE RELEASE DEAL WITH ISRAELThe PSA noted that terror groups have consistently called for their supporters to provoke violence in the West, authorities said. Online messaging boards associated with terror groups could motivate those with antisemitic or Islamic views to act out violently, authorities said. Following Oct. 7, some parts of the U.S. have seen a spike in antisemitic incidents because of Israel’s response to the attack on its citizens. The rise of antisemitism has been especially focused on college campuses where some Jewish students have been harassed, and, at times, assaulted.  DHS’ 2025 Homeland Threat Assessment (HTA), released last week, concluded that the “threat environment” in the United States over the next year is expected to “remain high.””The Homeland Security Assessment provides an important overview of the dynamic and evolving threat landscape, illustrating just how varied and challenging the threats we confront are,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in an Oct. 2 statement. “It is because of the remarkable DHS workforce, and our close collaboration with our federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and private sector partners, that we are able to meet the challenges and keep the American people safe and secure.”The FBI Crime Data Explorer revealed a total of 1,951 anti-Jewish hate crimes in 2023, a 55% increase from 1,257 incidents reported in 2022. Of these, 980 incidents occurred between January and September. In the final three months of the year, 971 incidents were reported, an increase of more than 300% over the 318 incidents tallied during the same period in 2022. Fox News Digital’s Audrey Conklin and Beth Bailey contributed to this report.

Padres bullpen dodges beer can thrown by fan as more videos from ugly scene at Dodger Stadium surface

Padres bullpen dodges beer can thrown by fan as more videos from ugly scene at Dodger Stadium surface

It wasn’t just San Diego Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar dealing with objects thrown at him from fans in the stands at Dodgers Stadium in Sunday night’s Game 2 NLDS matchup. His teammates in the bullpen were dealing with their own situation while play was stopped late in the game. As fan videos continue to surface on social media of the wild scene before the seventh inning, one showed the moment where beer was hurled at players in the Padres’ bullpen while security and umpires were trying to figure out what happened with Profar on the field, as he had multiple balls and beer cans thrown at him. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThe Padres’ bullpen was close to the fence trying to look at what was going on with Profar, when one staff member could be seen staring up at the crowd. That’s when she pointed and warned left-hander Adrian Morejon that an object was coming their way. After dodging it, tempers began to flare, as right-handed pitcher Jeremiah Estrada and others in the San Diego bullpen were seen screaming up at fans in the stands. PADRES’ NLDS GAME 2 WIN OVER DODGERS TURNS UGLY AS FANS THROW OBJECTS AT SAN DIEGO PLAYERSLuckily, nothing else was seen thrown their way, but play reached a full stop at this point as San Diego manager Mike Shildt went out on the field to figure out what was transpiring between his players and the fans. This is a heated NL West rivalry, but MLB never wants to see interactions like this between players and fans. The tension was certainly on high with play on the field, especially the inning prior with Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty and Padres third baseman Manny Machado exchanging unpleasantries from the dugout and field, respectively. But it got to the point where play needed to stop as security, umpires and Padres players congregated on the field to ensure safety before resuming the postseason game. The video of the Padres bullpen can also hear the Dodger Stadium public address announcer imploring fans to stop throwing objects on the field, as it is immediate cause for ejection. Once play finally resumed, it was the Padres pouring it on late in their 10-2 victory over the Dodgers to even the series at one game apiece. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Saving lives on ‘Death Street,’ how an Israeli kindergarten teacher became a battlefield hero on October 7

Saving lives on 'Death Street,' how an Israeli kindergarten teacher became a battlefield hero on October 7

SOUTHERN ISRAEL – Tali Hadad is a 49-year-old mother of six and a kindergarten teacher whose days would normally be spent teaching basic reading, math and social skills to 5-year-olds. She never imagined that one day she would be forced to make life-or-death decisions while under fire in the middle of a war zone. But on Oct. 7, 2023, she was thrust into unimaginable circumstances. As Hamas launched its assault at 6:45 a.m., she awoke to the sound of sirens and gunfire in her hometown of Ofakim, a small, working-class city in southern Israel 15 miles from the border with Gaza. The piercing alarms that filled the air signaled this was not an ordinary rocket attack, to which much of the region had, over the course of many years, become accustomed.ISRAELI SOLDIER GRAVELY INJURED IN OCT. 7 TERROR ATTACK FINDS NEW FAITH, OFFERS HOPE TO OTHERS Hadad instantly knew her family was in grave danger. Her son, Itamar, a soldier in officer training, was home on leave for the weekend. As the sounds of gunfire grew closer, he grabbed his rifle, fully aware that there was fighting just outside their door. Without hesitation, he ran toward the terrorists. Hadad, still in her pajamas, quickly slipped on running shoes and chased after him, her instincts as a mother taking over.”I ran toward the playground,” Hadad told Fox News Digital. “I hid behind a wall and saw a line of terrorists walking with rifles, heading in the direction where my son had gone.” Moments later, she heard gunshots. “I knew Itamar was in the middle of it. I waited, hoping he would come out, but he didn’t. So, I ran toward him.”Dodging through alleys while gunfire rang out around her, Hadad saw the devastation unfold. “People were yelling from windows, begging for help,” she said. “But there were no ambulances coming, no one to save them.”Then, she saw Itamar. He had been shot multiple times – in the stomach, leg and thigh. Two of his comrades lay dead on the ground beside him.”He looked at me and said, ‘Mom, what are you doing here?’ I told him, ‘You’re hurt, I’m going to take you to the hospital,’” she recalled. With gunfire still echoing around her, Hadad sprinted back to her house, jumped into the family car and drove straight back to her son. “They put Itamar in the car, along with more of the wounded, and I drove as fast as I could, 120 kilometers per hour, to the Magen David Adom station (Israel’s national emergency medical service) at the entrance to the city,” she said. “I knew if I drove slowly, the terrorists would shoot me.”After handing Itamar over to the paramedics, she made a fateful decision. “I told him, ‘Mom isn’t coming with you. You’ll go in the ambulance, I’ll join you later. I have to go back and help the others.’”6 MONTHS ON, FAMILIES OF US HOSTAGES IN GAZA STUCK IN ‘AMBIGUOUS TRAUMA’Hadad returned to the scene of the fighting and made three more trips to rescue 13 people in total, all while under constant fire. “People tried to stop me,” she said. “They told me it was too dangerous, but I took Itamar’s rifle, and I knew this was something I had to do. I had no choice but to act.”After hours of intense fighting involving police officers, forces from the Yamam special-operations unit, armed civilians and off-duty soldiers, Israeli forces regained control of the town. A helicopter arrived to evacuate the wounded. Only then was Hadad able to step away from her role as a rescuer and check on her son at the hospital. Itamar had survived, but his road to recovery would be long.”Half of the rehabilitation is physical, and half is mental,” Itamar Hadad told Fox News Digital, reflecting on the traumatic events of that day, the friends he lost in the battle, and those he has lost since in Gaza, where his unit, Sayeret Nahal, has suffered many casualties. Despite the pain, his dream remains to return to his unit and continue fighting.AN INSIDE LOOK AT ISRAEL’S SPECIAL FORCES RESCUE UNIT FIGHTING TERRORISTS, RESCUING HOSTAGES: ‘FULL ON FAUDA’On Oct. 7, 47 of Ofakim’s 50,000 residents were murdered, and the street where Hadad lives became known as Rechov Ha’Mavet – “Death Street.”A year after the attack, Ofakim is rebuilding. Death Street, once a symbol of horror, has been renovated. The city has built a memorial, painted murals and planted olive trees – a sign of life replacing the destruction.”We’ve gathered the pieces, all the memories of the victims, and we’re trying to bring life back to the place that was destroyed,” Hadad said.Ofakim was not among the many towns and settlements in the south that were resettled in other parts of Israel. But the psychological scars remain. The waiting list for trauma counseling has grown, overwhelming the available therapists. In response, the Israel Psychoanalytic Society and the NGO IsraAid established a multidisciplinary trauma center, offering free mental health support to survivors of the massacre.Hadad, like many others in Ofakim, and in the entire country, continues to struggle with the emotional aftermath. “We’re still bleeding,” she said. For her, the experience was life-changing. She hasn’t returned to work since the attack, choosing, instead, to stay home and care for Itamar. Five of her six children are serving in the IDF, either on active duty or in the reserves. At the moment, two of them are fighting in Gaza. Her youngest daughter will enter the army in a month. The community of Ofakim continues to heal, but the memories of Oct. 7 will never fade. “We remember how our children ran through the streets barefoot, fighting like lions. No politicians come here anymore. No tour buses arrive. But we remember. We will always remember,” Hadad said.

Lake rips Biden-Harris ‘double whammy’ policies affecting Arizonans : ‘Driven us over the cliff’

Lake rips Biden-Harris 'double whammy' policies affecting Arizonans : 'Driven us over the cliff'

Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake told Fox News Digital that illegal immigration has disproportionately hammered residents of her state which she says has created a “double whammy” that will result in GOP wins in the state in November.”I think most Americans think that they have driven us right over the edge, over the cliff,” Lake told Fox News Digital about the policies of the Biden-Harris administration. “And we’re hoping that we can pull this back come November and that’s what we plan to do. But our polling shows that the economy is really affecting everybody. The border is affecting everybody.”Lake explained to Fox News Digital that the current administration’s border policies have disproportionately hurt Arizona particularly when it comes to housing costs.”It’s basic supply and demand,” Lake said. “21 million people coming in, even if you take the estimate that Joe Biden and Kamala are giving, which is 10 million, they’ve got to live somewhere. They’re living in homes and apartments and hotels and these are taking away housing opportunities for Americans and also jacking up the prices as well. Because right now, when you have a very limited supply of housing, which we do, we have not built enough homes and apartments in the past 20 years to keep up with the demand. So now all of a sudden, you add 21 million people, you’ve got a supply and demand issue. You got you don’t have enough supply and you have a lot of demand.”KARI LAKE SHREDS VP HARRIS’ ‘DESPICABLE’ SOUTHERN BORDER VISIT: JUST TO MAKE THE ‘MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAPPY’Lake continued, “We know that these people that are pouring across our country illegally, that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are bringing in hand-holding and saying, yes, please come in and we will supply you housing, federally subsidized housing, which means you and I are paying for it. And we will give you an ID card with thousands of dollars a month to pay for your food. They don’t have living expenses like the American people do. The American people are barely getting by because living expenses have gone up so they can then afford to take these jobs making less than the going rate, which takes Americans salaries and hourly wages and depresses them or pushes them down. So it’s a double whammy and it’s really affecting Arizona particularly hard.”On inflation, Lake pointed to data showing that Phoenix was at one point the hardest hit city in the country.”I talk to more Arizonans than anybody in the whole country,” Lake told Fox News Digital. “I have a better relationship with the people of Arizona, I think, than anybody in the country and they’re struggling. You know, it kills me to see families and people who are retiring or retirees, Arizona used to be an affordable state it’s not so much anymore, who are telling me now, Kari, I’ve never had to go to a food bank in my life. As a matter of fact, I used to donate to food banks. Now I’m finding myself there every couple of weeks just to make ends meet. I can’t even afford the basics. It breaks my heart because the people of this state are incredible, hard working people.”FLASHBACK: ARIZONA DEM SENATE CANDIDATE CALLED TRUMP VOTERS ‘DUMB’: ‘WORST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD'”They don’t deserve this and they don’t want to be asking for a handout, but they’re working as hard as they ever have. Some of them are doing two jobs and there’s not enough hours in the day. They can’t work any harder than they already are and they’re still not making ends meet. So it’s very distressing for the people and it’s distressing for me because I really, truly love the people of the state.”Lake, who is running for Senate against Dem. Rep. Ruben Gallego who she says is responsible for supporting the Harris-Biden immigration and inflation record, told Fox News Digital that she believes Republicans will have success in November as a result of those policies.”Every main issue that we’re facing as a country somehow seems to kind of come right through Arizona and this is why I feel so comfortable that we’re going to win this because, well, first of all, we’re registering voters left to right,” Lake said.  “People are saying, yep, we’re voting, we’re going to become a Republican. People who’ve never been a Republican before are now registered Republicans…We’re calling people who haven’t voted in a number of elections, people who maybe skipped the last 4 or 5 elections. I guess they are called low propensity voters and we’re asking, are you going to vote? And they’re saying, ‘Hell, yes, I’m going to vote. Absolutely, I’m going to vote. I’m struggling right now. This is the first election I voted in a number of elections.’ But this one really matters. I think it’s our last election. If we don’t get this right as a free America.”Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment but did not receive a response.

New Jersey high school allegedly banned yellow ribbons honoring Israeli hostages: ‘Deeply offensive’

New Jersey high school allegedly banned yellow ribbons honoring Israeli hostages: 'Deeply offensive'

A New Jersey high school is accused of banning yellow ribbons, aimed at honoring Israeli hostages abducted by Hamas, at a club fair, a move critics described as “deeply offensive” and “blatant antisemitism.”Fair Lawn High School also prohibited Israeli flags at the event, because administrators believed the flags were too political, some parents and the group StopAntisemitism allege, noting that members of the Muslim Student Association were permitted to display a keffiyeh, a traditional headdress worn by men from parts of the Middle East, according to the New York Post. The event, according to the report, was partly promoting a trip to Israel.”What happened at Fair Lawn High School is an alarming case of hypocrisy and blatant antisemitism,” StopAntisemitism founder Liora Rez told the outlet. “This incident is nothing short of a direct violation of Jewish students’ rights to express their identity and humanitarian concerns.”AMERICAN FATHER OF HAMAS HOSTAGE ITAY CHEN PUSHES US, ISRAEL ON ‘PLAN B’ AS NEGOTIATIONS FALTERBetween 33% to 40% of the 35,000 residents in Fair Lawn are Jewish. Fair Lawn in Bergen County is located about 17 miles from New York City. This comes a year after Hamas terrorists’ Oct. 7, 2023, attacks against Israel, which led to military retaliation from Israel and sparked a still-ongoing war in the Middle East. More than 250 people, including some Americans, were abducted by Hamas during the Oct. 7 attacks. Many hostages have since been released, rescued or killed, while dozens are still held by Hamas. One parent said the school district’s failure to address complaints about alleged antisemitism is not a new concern.”The incident at Fair Lawn High School’s Club Fair is not an isolated event but part of a disturbing pattern of antisemitism that I and other parents have been battling for years,” Adi Vaxman, founder and president of Operation Israel, which provides humanitarian relief to Israel, told the New York Post.”Despite numerous meetings with the board of education and the superintendent, promises of inclusion in anti-antisemitism efforts have gone unfulfilled,” added Vaxman, whose daughter Maya attends the school.Vaxman continued: “The administrator’s claim that the yellow hostage ribbon — a humanitarian symbol calling for the release of innocent civilians abducted from their homes and held in subhuman conditions by Hamas — is ‘political’ is deeply offensive and unacceptable.”ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF OCT. 7 ATTACKS ARRIVES WITH LASTING TRAUMA FOR ISRAELIS, AMERICAN JEWS: EXPERTClaiming a double standard, Vaxman said that the black-and-white keffiyeh, which she says is “a symbol of the armed resistance against Israelis,” was allowed to remain on display at the club event for hours.”This glaring double standard exposes the bias of the school and the administrator in question,” she said. “It’s alarming that the school supports the Muslim Student Association identifying as Palestinian while censoring the Israeli flag for the Jewish Student Union. Israel is the world’s only Jewish state, naturally associated with Judaism and relevant to the [Jewish Student Union’s] advertised trip to Israel.”Fair Lawn High Principal Paul Gorski released a statement defending the school’s response to ribbons and flags.”We take pride in our Student Activities program as well as the leadership shown by both students and faculty,” Gorski wrote. “During this year’s event, both the Muslim Student Association and the Jewish Student Union were asked to adjust items that were not part of their original displays. Both groups received the same instruction and were treated equally.”Gorski said no students were disciplined in connection with their participation at the club fair. The principal also said the high school participates in the Anti-Defamation League’s “No Place for Hate” initiative and that the school was “proudly recognized” with a Gold Star distinction from the group during a ceremony earlier this year.”We condemn antisemitism and remain steadfast in our commitment to creating an inclusive community where hate is not tolerated,” he said. “When we return to school after being closed for the Jewish holidays, we will engage in dialogue with our students and community. Hate has no home at Fair Lawn High School.”Vaxman, however, maintains that the school discriminated against Jewish students during the club fair.”This selective application of rules further demonstrates the discriminatory treatment of Jewish students,” Vaxman said. “The school’s response is extremely disappointing and fails to address these core issues. Their participation in the ‘No Place for Hate’ initiative rings hollow when Jewish students face such blatant discrimination and intimidation in their school on a regular basis. We demand concrete actions, not empty platitudes, to combat antisemitism and ensure true equality for ‘all’ students.”
