Biden stumbles through event, refers to former Rep. Giffords in past tense: ‘nothing wrong with me’

Biden stumbles through event, refers to former Rep. Giffords in past tense: 'nothing wrong with me'

President Biden sparked confusion during a mumbling saga, remarking that there was ‘nothing wrong’ with him as he discussed Sen. Mark Kelly’s wife in the past tense.”I’m Joe Biden, I’m Jill Biden’s husband. And God, thank you for the introduction to the Gila Indian River community here… the Gila… nothing wrong with me. The Gila River Indian community for welcoming me today,” he said while visiting the Indian Reserve on Friday.”You know, I say this with all sincerity, this, to me, is the most consequential thing I’ve ever had the opportunity to do in my whole career as President of the United States,” he said. “It’s an honor, a genuine honor, to be in this special place on this special day.”BIDEN UNDER FIRE ONLINE AGAIN FOR TWICE CONFUSING LIVING EUROPEAN LEADERS WITH DEAD PREDECESSORS IN ONE WEEK Biden offered Sen. Mark Kelly, D-AZ, a shoutout, and then referred to Kelly’s wife, former Representative Gabrielle Giffords, D-AZ, in the past tense.”It is an honor, a genuine honor to be in this special place on this special day,” he added. “Thank you to Senator Mark Kelly, a great friend who also was married to an incredible woman [Giffords] who was my friend.”While the former Arizona politician was one of the victims in a 2011 mass shooting that took place in Tucson, she survived the tragic event that claimed six lives.BIDEN MOCKED FOR ADMITTING ‘WE CAN’T BE TRUSTED’ IN LATEST GAFFE: ‘AGREED, JOE’Following the assassination attempt, she chose to resign from her position. The 54-year-old is still alive and is married to Sen. Kelly since 2007.WATCH:Biden’s gaffes include mixing up world leaders with dead people. In Feb. 2024, the president claimed he spoke with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl – who actually died four years earlier.White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended President Biden’s gaffe with Chancellor Kohl, telling the press that it “happens to all of us, and it is common.” “As it relates to the names and what he was trying to say, many people, elected officials, many people, you know, they can misspeak sometimes, right?” she said. “And so this happens. You know, it happens to all of us and it is common,” Jean-Pierre argued. “But I do want to make sure we don’t forget what the overall arching kind of theme, what he is trying to say about our leadership on the global stage.” Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment.

Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam gives Dodgers Game 1 World Series win vs. Yankees

Freddie Freeman's walk-off grand slam gives Dodgers Game 1 World Series win vs. Yankees

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning on of Game 1 of the World Series on Friday to give his team a 1-0 series lead over the the New York Yankees. Freeman came to the plate after Mookie Betts was intentionally walked to load the bases. And against Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes, who hadn’t pitched in weeks, Freeman cranked the first pitch he saw into deep right field to win the game. It marked a climactic ending to one of the most highly-anticipated MLB games in recent years. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMBoth starters, Gerrit Cole of the Yankees and Jack Flaherty of the Dodgers, pitched four scoreless innings to start the game. Flaherty put on some baserunners, and Cole had so deep fly balls to the track, but it was all zeroes through the first four frames. Cole was the first to crack, giving up an RBI on a sac fly to Dodgers catcher Will Smith, who scored Kike Hernandez to put LA up 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth. Then came Giancarlo Stanton. The Yankees veteran slugger, who has taken the lead in MLB’s all-time list of most home runs per at-bat this postseason, hit his fifth homer of the playoffs. A towering two-run shot that arched majestically into left field put New York up 2-1 in the sixth. From there, both team’s bullpens kept the bats at bay until Shohei Ohtani came up with a booming one-out double in the eighth inning. Then he snuck over to third base when the throw back in got away from the Yankees infielders. FOLLOW GAME 1 OF THE WORLD SERIES ON FOX SPORTSSo, the Yankees turned to their de-facto closer Luke Weaver to come in for a potential five-out save. Weaver, a 31-year-old journeyman who was unexpectedly thrust into New York’s closer role ahead of the playoffs, became one of MLB’s biggest stories of the postseason, recording four of five saves and pitching two innings for the win in Game 5 of the ALCS to send the Yankees to the World Series. But with Ohtani already at third, Weaver gave up a fly ball to Mookie Betts, allowing Ohtani to score and tie the game at two. SHOHEI OHTANI’S 50/50 BALL AUCTIONED OFF FOR ALL-TIME RECORD $4.39MIn the top of the ninth, a fan caught a Gleyber Torres fly ball to left center, to put Torres at second base on fan interference. Then Dodgers manager Dave Roberts opted to intentionally walk Juan Soto to bring Aaron Judge to the plate with two on and two out. And Judge, who has struggled in the playoffs so far, came up empty in what was arguably the biggest at-bat of his career to that point, with a routine pop-up. Then, Weaver came back on for the Yankees in the ninth and finished off a 1-2-3 inning to send the game to extras.Jazz Chisholm got on base, stole second, stole third, then came home on an Anthony Volpe ground ball to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead. Then came the bottom of the 10th and Freeman’s home run.It was the first World Series game between the storied franchises since Oct. 28, 1981, when the Dodgers won 9-2 to clinch the series at Yankee Stadium. It was the first postseason game between them in Los Angeles October 25 of that year, when the Dodgers won 2-1, which shifted the momentum of that series. The two teams will meet again at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night for Game 2. The game can be seen on FOX.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Rare tool dating back 3,500 years found in the UK

Rare tool dating back 3,500 years found in the UK

Archaeologists with Wessex Archaeology were working through an excavation ahead of a habitat project when they came across a wooden tool that turned out to be one of the oldest and most complete ever discovered in Britain.Wessex Archaeology announced the ancient find in a news release published this week. During the early stages of the excavation near Poole Harbour at a construction site in a diverse wetlands habitat, there wasn’t much to be found other than a few shards of pottery and some flint, Environment Agency archaeologist Greg Chuter said in a video posted by Wessex Archaeology. GROUP OF METAL DETECTORISTS UNCOVER HOARD OF COIN IN ENGLANDThe finds weren’t of much significance until the wooden tool was uncovered. Preliminary scientific dating of the tool dated it to the Bronze Age, roughly between 1500 and 1400 B.C., according to Wessex Archaeology’s Ed Treasure, who spoke about the find in the video posted by the archaeological company. Radiocarbon dating was used to date the tool to between 3,400 and 3,500 years old. “This is an incredibly exciting moment, and we’re looking forward to finding out more as the process unfolds,” Treasure said of the find. The tool, made from just a single piece of wood, likely took many hours to create, according to Wessex Archaeology, and it was a valuable tool over 3,000 years ago. “We’re working across a vast landscape that is dominated by nature with very little to suggest to the naked eye that much human activity has taken place here,” Chuter said in a news release. THE HISTORY OF THE HOXNE HOARD, THE LARGEST COLLECTION OF ROMAN TREASURE FOUND IN BRITAIN”However, just beneath the surface, we’ve uncovered evidence of the ways humans have cleverly adapted to the challenges presented by this particular environment for over 3,000 years. The spade is a fascinating part of the story and, as research continues, we’re looking forward to exploring the relationship between the spade and the ditch and what else they can tell us about life at Arne Moors 3,000 years ago.”Ancient wooden tools like these aren’t discovered often. Its age and preservation both play a role in its uniqueness. The last time a Bronze Age wooden tool was discovered in Britain with similar qualities was when the Brynlow shovel was found in a Cheshire mine in 1875. The wooden tool most recently unearthed by archaeologists is also rare in its well-kept condition. Tools made of organic material, like wood, don’t often survive in the ground for so long, according to the news release from Wessex Archaeology. The reason this tool remained in such great condition was due to its waterlogged environment. The wooden tool remains under special care and is undergoing full conservation and further studies.

NASA astronaut hospitalized with medical issue after crew’s delayed return from space station

A NASA astronaut remained hospitalized Friday evening following the delayed return of a four-person crew from the International Space Station earlier in the morning. The crew consisting of NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, and Jeanette Epps, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin splashed down off the coast of Pensacola, Florida, around 3:30 a.m. ET. Friday. All four were flown together to Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola in Florida for medical evaluation following splashdown, and one astronaut still remains, NASA said in a Friday update. The remaining astronaut, whom NASA didn’t name, is in stable condition under observation as a precaution due to a “medical issue.”RETIRED ASTRONAUT SAYS SPACEX IS A ‘GREAT PARTNER’ IN THE SPACE STATION PROGRAM”To protect the crew member’s medical privacy, specific details on the individual’s condition or identity will not be shared,” NASA said. The other three have returned to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.SPACEX LAUNCHES MISSION TO ISS THAT WILL BRING BACK STRANDED STARLINER ASTRONAUTSThe astronauts’ SpaceX Dragon capsule, which undocked from the space station Wednesday evening, experienced a normal reentry into the Earth’s atmosphere and landing that was “without incident,” NASA said. “We’re grateful to Ascension Sacred Heart for its support during this time, and we are proud of our team for its quick action to ensure the safety of our crew members,” the agency added. The astronauts spent eight months on the space station, two months longer than expected. A normal ISS mission lasts for six months. It sometimes takes days or even weeks for astronauts to adjust back to gravity after living on the space station. A NASA official told reporters “the crew is doing great” during a Friday press conference after splashdown, without mentioning any medical issues. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPThe crew was delayed by both Hurricane Helene and problems with the Boeing Starliner, which eventually returned to Earth last month without its own crew. The Boeing Starliner crew will remain at the space station until February, flying home in a SpaceX capsule that launched last month with two empty seats. Originally expected to stay for a week, Wimore and Williams will also remain at the space station for eight months.
