Virginia governor slams ‘astounding’ federal ruling reinstating voting rights for alleged noncitizens

Virginia governor slams 'astounding' federal ruling reinstating voting rights for alleged noncitizens

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin slammed a federal judge’s ruling ordering Virginia to reinstate potentially 1,600 noncitizens to its state voter rolls on Friday, with just 10 days until the election.”This is a stunning ruling by a federal judge who is ordering Virginia to reinstate individuals who have self-identified as noncitizens back on the voter rolls,” Youngkin told “The Faulkner Focus” by phone shortly after the judge’s decision was announced.”What’s even more astounding is that the vast majority of these folks had presented immigration documents confirming that they were noncitizens, and we recently had that verified by federal authorities,” he told Fox News host Harris Faulkner. On Friday, U.S. Judge Patricia Giles issued a preliminary injunction to reinstate all voters who had been removed from state voter rolls in the past 90 days, after Youngkin issued an executive order in August directing state officials to identify noncitizens, who were given two weeks to dispute being disqualified before being removed from voter rolls. YOUNGKIN VOWS TO APPEAL ‘TO SCOTUS’ AFTER US JUDGE ORDERS 1,600 VOTERS BACK ON BALLOTThe judge found that the removals had been “systematic,” not individualized, and were thus a violation of federal law.In issuing the injunction, Giles said there is reason to believe voters were being mistakenly removed from the rolls. “This process has resulted in eligible voters having their voting registration flagged,” she said. Her ruling came after the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the State of Virginia, Virginia State Board of Elections and Virginia Commissioner of Elections on Oct. 11, saying that by removing voters from rolls too close to the Nov. 5 general election, the state had violated the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA).Youngkin told Faulkner the ruling, which is expected to restore the voting rights to about 1,600 residents ahead of Election Day, violated common sense and the Constitution. YOUNGKIN HITS BACK AT DOJ SUIT OVER ‘COMMON SENSE’ LAW THAT CULLS NONCITIZENS FROM VOTER ROLLS”It’s astounding to me that this could possibly happen,” he said. The Republican governor pledged to “immediately” file an emergency petition to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and take the legal fight all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, if necessary.”We’re not going to sit by and let this happen,” he vowed.Youngkin said they had been cleaning up their voter rolls for “years,” not just the past 90 days after the executive order was issued.”This process has been going on for years,” he told Faulkner. “This is not something that just started in the 90-day window, and by the way, the 90-day window doesn’t even apply because these are noncitizens who shouldn’t have been on the voting rolls to begin with.””They should have not been there in the first place,” he continued.Youngkin has insisted the voters were removed legally and is based on precedent from a 2006 state law enacted by then-Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat. Fox News Digital’s Breanne Deppisch contributed to this report.

Nevada volleyball forfeits game vs San Jose State after players refuse to compete amid trans inclusion issue

Nevada volleyball forfeits game vs San Jose State after players refuse to compete amid trans inclusion issue

The University of Nevada, Reno officially announced on Friday that its women’s volleyball team will forfeit its game against San Jose State on Saturday. Nevada is the fifth team to forfeit its match against San Jose State amid an ongoing national controversy over a transgender player on the team and another player engaged in a lawsuit over never being told that player was a biological male, according to the lawsuit.Nevada cited not having enough players to compete in the match for forfeiting after its players expressed a desire and intention not to compete against San Jose State. “Due to not having enough players to compete, the University of Nevada women’s volleyball team will not play its scheduled Mountain West Conference match at San José State on Saturday, Oct. 26. Per Mountain West Conference policy, the match will be recorded as a conference loss for Nevada,” Nevada announced in a statement early on Friday morning. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMSan Jose State responded to the forfeit in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Our athletes all comply with NCAA and Mountain West Conference policies and they are eligible to play under the rules of those organizations. We will continue to take measures to prioritize the health and safety of our students while they pursue their earned opportunities to compete,” the statement read. Nevada players, including team captain Sia Liillii, spoke out against the notion of competing against a transgender player in the weeks leading up to the cancelation after voting to forfeit it on Oct. 14. The players even went so far as to schedule a press conference alongside OutKick contributor and women’s athlete activist Riley Gaines to go on at the same time as the game on Saturday. However, Nevada would not officially forfeit the game until Friday morning, citing state law. “The university made the decision not to declare a forfeiture and move forward with hosting the match as scheduled based on several factors. As a public university, the university is legally prohibited by Section 24 of the Nevada Constitution and other laws and regulations to declare a forfeit for reasons related to gender identity or expression,” a Nevada spokesperson previously told Fox News Digital. The Nevada state constitution was revised in 2022 when Nevada voted to adopt the Equal Rights Amendment, which added gender identity to the list of protections. Nevada state Sen. Pat Spearman, a Democrat from North Las Vegas who co-sponsored the bill to get it on the ballot, said the law has helped transgender people maintain their identity. On Tuesday, both Nevada and San Jose State announced that the match would be moved from Nevada’s campus in Reno to San Jose State’s campus in the Bay Area in California, claiming the location change was “in the best interest of both programs and the well-being of the student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff and spectators.”San Jose State would have needed to be at the site of the match, however, in order to receive a forfeit victory if no Nevada players end up playing. By moving the site of the match to the San Jose State campus, then the Spartan players would not have to make the trip to Nevada in order to secure the forfeit victory. So, by making this change, San Jose State will get to claim a forfeited victory if no Nevada players choose to play, without leaving their home state. Now that the match has been officially forfeited, no one will have to do any traveling. MEGAN RAPINOE DEMANDS PROTECTION FOR TRANS PEOPLE AHEAD OF ELECTIONNevada joins Southern Utah, Boise State, Wyoming and Utah State, which all have officially forfeited their scheduled games against San Jose State.San Jose State player Brooke Slusser joined a lawsuit headed by OutKick host and former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines against the NCAA due to its policies on gender identity. Slusser joined this lawsuit because she claims that she has had to share a court, a locker room and even a room on overnight trips with her teammate Blaire Fleming without having ever been told that Fleming was a biological male. Security concerns and threats against San Jose State players have made traveling for matches a high-risk endeavor for the lady Spartans. San Jose State previously confirmed to Fox News Digital that police protection had been assigned to the team, shortly after getting the first news of an opponent forfeiting, when Southern Utah announced that it would not play its match against the Spartans in September.”One of my teammates got a DM, basically saying that she, and then my team, needed to keep my distance from me on gameday against Colorado State, because it wasn’t going to be a good situation for me to be in and that my team needed to keep their distance,” Slusser told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview. “They needed to keep their distance from me during the game, because something was going to happen to me.”This was the first physical threat when we could easily see that they wanted to physically harm one of us.”In June, a survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago asked respondents to weigh in on whether transgender athletes of both sexes should be permitted to participate in sports leagues that correspond to their preferred gender identity instead of their biological sex. Sixty-five percent answered that it should either be never or rarely allowed. When those polled were asked specifically about adult transgender female athletes competing on women’s sports teams, 69% opposed it.The United Nations released study findings that say nearly 900 biological females have fallen short of the podium because they were beaten out by transgender athletes. The study, titled “Violence against women and girls in sports,” said that more than 600 athletes did not medal in more than 400 competitions in 29 different sports, totaling over 890 medals, according to information obtained up to March 30.”The replacement of the female sports category with a mixed-sex category has resulted in an increasing number of female athletes losing opportunities, including medals, when competing against males,” the report said.Former President Donald Trump has gone so far as to advocate for a ban, in a recent town hall event on Fox News.”We’re not going to let it happen,” Trump said of the issue. “We stop it, we stop it, we absolutely stop it. We can’t have it.”You just ban it. The president bans it. You don’t let it happen. It’s not a big deal.”Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

James Carville rants about far-left’s ‘jacka–‘ language alienating voters: ‘It’s been a problem’

James Carville rants about far-left's 'jacka--' language alienating voters: 'It's been a problem'

Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville rebuked progressive members of his party for their use of “nonsense” identity politics rhetoric, and explained why he wanted to encourage Democrats that Vice President Kamala Harris would win the 2024 election. In a New York Times op-ed this week, Carville reassured anxious Democrats that Harris would win the 2024 election, despite a new national poll showing the race is a dead heat between the two candidates. He argued that former President Trump is on a losing streak, Harris has more money, and he “just has a feeling” that she will be the victor. Carville said on the “Politics War Room” podcast, that he gave this pep talk to Democrats because a “depressed party is not a winning party.””Above all, you’re never any better than you think you are. And Democrats – this is kind of a tied race – and they will lapse into profound depression. And a depressed party is not a winning party. And so anything that I can do to address that kind of depression, I’m glad to do it,” Carville said. “And I’m glad the Times gave me the platform. And I was happy to write it and I think all the things I said are valid and true and, you know, hopefully they’ll all come to fruition.”CARVILLE WARNS JOURNALISTS WILL BE LOCKED UP IF TRUMP WINS THE ELECTION: ‘HE’S GONNA ARREST ALL OF YA’Both candidates are tied with 48% of the popular vote, according to a New York Times/Siena College survey of 2,516 likely voters nationwide between Oct. 20 and Oct. 23, which has a 2.5% margin of error.  The straight-talking political operative also offered sharp criticism of the progressive left wing of his party, suggesting the way they talked was alienating to voters.”By the way, no Democrat, anywhere, is uttering any of this identity politics nonsense. No one,” he said. “You don’t hear anyone using terms like Latinx. Communities of color…. The word is so stupid I don’t even want to pronounce it right.”Carville elaborated on this after a listener’s e-mail asked him how he can “teach” Democrats, including Vice President Harris, to use less “complicated” and “overly sophisticated” language when talking to voters. CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE”It’s been a problem. I couldn’t agree with you more. I think we are trying to extricate ourselves from it a little bit. I think people are trying to speak a little cleaner or crisper. The problem is there’s a lot of part of liberal culture that still insists on using this jacka– language,” he said.”This morning, I was listening to NPR – which, again, I find on one hand quite informative and on the other hand maddeningly frustrating – talking about this ‘vegan community.’ Does any normal person use the term ‘vegan community?’” he ranted.”I have no idea. Where do they meet? What are they part of? What do they do? I mean, I know plenty of people that are vegan. But I don’t know that they are some [group]. – everything is a community. That is the favorite Democratic word that ever existed, which I don’t mind it. I like being part of a community. But it just says something – sends so many coded signals out to so many people that they don’t even realize,” Carville continued. While talking to MSNBC’s Ari Melber this week, Carville warned about a doomsday scenario if Trump won the election. He warned journalists talking about polling that shows Harris’ support among Black men and Hispanics is slipping, arguing the media needed to focus on hyping the stakes of this election.”People want to know about [Harris’ polling] weakness among males of color. Okay? He’s gonna arrest all of ya,” he told the media. “You think you don’t have a stake in this election? Guess what? You’re not gonna do very well, I’m not gonna do well. You’re not gonna do well, Ari.”Fox News’ Greg Norman and Gabriel Hays contributed to this report.

MLB great details where Yankees have advantage over Dodgers in World Series

MLB great details where Yankees have advantage over Dodgers in World Series

Baseball Hall of Famer John Smoltz said Friday he thinks the New York Yankees have one big advantage over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. The eight-time All-Star talked about the Yankees’ advantage when he joined OutKick’s “Don’t @ Me With Dan Dakch.””I think the Yankees have an advantage in the starting rotation. They have four starters. We haven’t seen four starters all year. At least I haven’t in the series that I’ve had, we’ve had bullpen games for the Dodgers. They are going to have bullpen games again, but the Yankees can throw out four starters,” Smoltz said.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM”Which if (the Yankees starters) do their job and have a nice little streak going. I read something in the stats, and I had to do a double take, because it seems so simple. But the Yankees have seven consecutive games of four innings and two runs or less given up. “Now, four innings is not a lot, but that just tells you where we are in the state of the game for what is being valued and what the commodities that certain teams have or don’t have.”The Yankees’ four starters that they used this postseason are Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón, Clarke Schmidt and Luis Gil. Cole is starting Game 1, while manager Aaron Boone has announced that Rodón and Schmidt will start Games 2 and 3. Because the Yankees beat the Cleveland Guardians in five games in the ALCS, it gave them a chance to set their rotation how they wanted. Had they lost Game 5 in Cleveland, Cole would have started Game 6 and not been able to start until Game 3 or 4 in the World Series. FOLLOW GAME 1 OF THE WORLD SERIES ON FOX SPORTSThe Dodgers, on the other hand, only have three starters: Jack Flaherty, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Walker Buehler. Through 11 games, Dodgers starters have just pitched a combined 40 innings, relying heavily on the bullpen.Smoltz said manager Dave Roberts has to be smart about how he manages his bullpen. “Now the Dodgers do have an extraordinarily deep bullpen, and they are going to rely heavily on it in the games that they can win,” Smoltz said. “They’ve been very fortunate. Dave Roberts has done an incredible job navigating the games he can win versus the games they got blown out and didn’t have to use high-leverage guys. But when you throw 70% of your innings or more out of your pen and the series goes six or seven innings, you got to be heroic to win that series. I think the Dodgers have the advantage in the bullpen.”In the NLCS, the narrowest margin of victory for the winning team in each game was four runs, making decisions for Roberts easy about whom to bring in from the bullpen, as the games weren’t particularly close. Smoltz doesn’t anticipate the World Series playing out the same way. YANKEES-DODGERS WORLD SERIES MATCHUP CREATES PERFECT ENDING FOR MLB’S DREAM POSTSEASON”I think this is going to be a tighter-played World Series and Dave Roberts is going to have really hard decisions to make. Let’s just say in the fifth inning, down one, you know, or even down two, he’s got a spread in his mind that if he is three down or more, he is not going to probably use those guys to stay in the game,” Smoltz said. “He’ll hope he can stay in the game with other relievers, but he has to keep his five or four top relievers in a position for the knockout punch. So that’s where the starters for the Yankees can really put a tough narrative for Dave Roberts.”Cole comes into his Game 1 start with a 1-0 record in his three postseason starts, with a 3.31 ERA across 16.1 innings. Flaherty is starting Game 1 for the Dodgers and has been more of a mixed bag, going 1-2 in three games with a 7.04 ERA across 15.1 innings. In Game 1 of the NLCS, Flaherty threw seven shutout innings against the Mets, but he got rocked in Game 5, giving up eight runs in three innings. Roberts announced Yamamoto will start Game 2 for the Dodgers, but no decision has been made on whether Game 3 will be a Buehler start or a bullpen game. The World Series will officially begin with Flaherty throwing the first pitch at Dodgers Stadium on Friday at 8:08 p.m ET on FOX. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Harris praises pro-Farrakhan pastor who said gay people should feel ‘uncomfortable’ in their ‘sin’

Harris praises pro-Farrakhan pastor who said gay people should feel 'uncomfortable' in their 'sin'

FIRST ON FOX: Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris visited the mega church of a controversial pastor this past Sunday in a key swing state, where she thanked him for his “leadership” and said she was honored to be in attendance to “celebrate” what he has “accomplished.”Harris attended a church service at the Georgia-based New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, which is under the pastoral leadership of senior pastor Jamal H. Bryant. The longtime pastor has repeatedly praised the antisemitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and said gay people should feel “uncomfortable” in their “sin.”Bryant, who introduced Harris as an “American hero” and “voice of the future,” told the congregation that their unborn grandchildren are going to one day ask where they were on the day of the church service and called on them to “make some noise” for their “fearless leader.””Pastor Bryant, I thank you for your leadership,” Harris said while delivering remarks for about 20 minutes in front of the New Birth congregation. “You and I have discussed that we first met almost 20 years ago when there was a convening of rising stars in the country, and we had conversations back then about how we thought of our role and responsibility to our country and our responsibility and duty as leaders.”BIDEN CABINET OFFICIAL POSES FOR PHOTO WITH ONE OF FARRAKHAN’S ‘TOP SOLDIERS’ AT DNC”It is so good to be with you this morning to celebrate what you have accomplished with this extraordinary congregation,” she added.Bryant, who donated $500 to the Harris campaign a week after President Biden announced that he wasn’t running for re-election, has been a vocal Harris supporter and said earlier this summer that he and other Black leaders were “mobilizing an army” in support of her campaign. “It was a sister that raised you, it was a sister that taught you how to read. It takes a real man to support a woman,” Bryant said during his sermon. He added, “You were born for such a time as this,” referring to Harris.Despite Bryant’s praise for Harris and boosting her candidacy, his past controversial comments could come back to haunt the Harris campaign. He has a long history of praising Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who has espoused antisemitic rhetoric dating back decades, including calling Jews “wicked” and comparing them to termites by saying he was “anti-termite.” Bryant interviewed the Nation of Islam leader in 2015 and said he is “one of the greatest leaders of our people.””We welcome to the Word Network and the entire world, the honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan! We’re honored to have you, sir,” Bryant said while introducing him. “I’m so appreciative to be able to mark in history that I lived in the same chasm of time as one of the greatest leaders of our people.”In a tweet from 2019, Bryant said that he was “humbled” to be in Farrakhan’s presence. His Twitter page has dozens of other tweets related to Farrakhan.TOP BIDEN ADVISER HAS BEEN EMPLOYED FOR DECADES AT CHURCH THAT GAVE PLATFORM TO ANTISEMITES: ‘DEVIL BY NATURE’Bryant has also been critical of the gay community, telling a congregation at the Baltimore Empowerment Temple in 2012 that “homosexuality is not the only sin, but it is a sin,” while adding that it is their “responsibility” to make gay people and other sinners “uncomfortable in [their] sin.” He went on to attack former President Obama for supporting gay marriage and not giving Black pastors a warning, causing them to feel blindsided and betrayed. He told the congregation that Obama was “Black and wrong” and “Black and out of order.”Harris has been a longtime supporter of gay rights and her campaign website says she will “always defend the freedom to love who you love openly and with pride.””In 2004, she officiated some of the nation’s first same-sex marriages and as Attorney General, she refused to defend California’s anti-marriage equality statewide referendum,” her campaign website continued. “As President, she’ll fight to pass the Equality Act to enshrine anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQI+ Americans in health care, housing, education and more into law.”During Harris’ remarks at Bryant’s church, she also gave a shout-out to her controversial hometown pastor and longtime mentor, Rev. Amos Brown, who was in attendance at the church service, calling him a “source of comfort and solace for me for so many years” and praising his “wisdom.”Brown, who has faced backlash for past comments, including blaming the United States for the September 11th attacks and repeatedly defending Obama’s controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright, also delivered remarks during the church service. At one point during his prayer, Brown called for God to “speak to every Black male and have him to know he spits on their graves when he refuses to vote. Speak to every Black male that he will know that we must not trample on the graves of those who gave up their lives for the right to vote.””Thank you, oh God, for this day that we pray for our member and thy servant, Kamala Harris. Oh God, may she know that she moves around this nation. You will guide her. You will protect her, and she will be able to say, ‘I will make the darkness light before thee, and what is wrong I know you will make it right before me and all my battles I will fight before thee.'”Fox News Digital reached out to New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and the Harris campaign for comment but did not receive a response.
