MLB great details where Yankees have advantage over Dodgers in World Series

MLB great details where Yankees have advantage over Dodgers in World Series

Baseball Hall of Famer John Smoltz said Friday he thinks the New York Yankees have one big advantage over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. The eight-time All-Star talked about the Yankees’ advantage when he joined OutKick’s “Don’t @ Me With Dan Dakch.””I think the Yankees have an advantage in the starting rotation. They have four starters. We haven’t seen four starters all year. At least I haven’t in the series that I’ve had, we’ve had bullpen games for the Dodgers. They are going to have bullpen games again, but the Yankees can throw out four starters,” Smoltz said.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM”Which if (the Yankees starters) do their job and have a nice little streak going. I read something in the stats, and I had to do a double take, because it seems so simple. But the Yankees have seven consecutive games of four innings and two runs or less given up. “Now, four innings is not a lot, but that just tells you where we are in the state of the game for what is being valued and what the commodities that certain teams have or don’t have.”The Yankees’ four starters that they used this postseason are Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón, Clarke Schmidt and Luis Gil. Cole is starting Game 1, while manager Aaron Boone has announced that Rodón and Schmidt will start Games 2 and 3. Because the Yankees beat the Cleveland Guardians in five games in the ALCS, it gave them a chance to set their rotation how they wanted. Had they lost Game 5 in Cleveland, Cole would have started Game 6 and not been able to start until Game 3 or 4 in the World Series. FOLLOW GAME 1 OF THE WORLD SERIES ON FOX SPORTSThe Dodgers, on the other hand, only have three starters: Jack Flaherty, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Walker Buehler. Through 11 games, Dodgers starters have just pitched a combined 40 innings, relying heavily on the bullpen.Smoltz said manager Dave Roberts has to be smart about how he manages his bullpen. “Now the Dodgers do have an extraordinarily deep bullpen, and they are going to rely heavily on it in the games that they can win,” Smoltz said. “They’ve been very fortunate. Dave Roberts has done an incredible job navigating the games he can win versus the games they got blown out and didn’t have to use high-leverage guys. But when you throw 70% of your innings or more out of your pen and the series goes six or seven innings, you got to be heroic to win that series. I think the Dodgers have the advantage in the bullpen.”In the NLCS, the narrowest margin of victory for the winning team in each game was four runs, making decisions for Roberts easy about whom to bring in from the bullpen, as the games weren’t particularly close. Smoltz doesn’t anticipate the World Series playing out the same way. YANKEES-DODGERS WORLD SERIES MATCHUP CREATES PERFECT ENDING FOR MLB’S DREAM POSTSEASON”I think this is going to be a tighter-played World Series and Dave Roberts is going to have really hard decisions to make. Let’s just say in the fifth inning, down one, you know, or even down two, he’s got a spread in his mind that if he is three down or more, he is not going to probably use those guys to stay in the game,” Smoltz said. “He’ll hope he can stay in the game with other relievers, but he has to keep his five or four top relievers in a position for the knockout punch. So that’s where the starters for the Yankees can really put a tough narrative for Dave Roberts.”Cole comes into his Game 1 start with a 1-0 record in his three postseason starts, with a 3.31 ERA across 16.1 innings. Flaherty is starting Game 1 for the Dodgers and has been more of a mixed bag, going 1-2 in three games with a 7.04 ERA across 15.1 innings. In Game 1 of the NLCS, Flaherty threw seven shutout innings against the Mets, but he got rocked in Game 5, giving up eight runs in three innings. Roberts announced Yamamoto will start Game 2 for the Dodgers, but no decision has been made on whether Game 3 will be a Buehler start or a bullpen game. The World Series will officially begin with Flaherty throwing the first pitch at Dodgers Stadium on Friday at 8:08 p.m ET on FOX. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Harris praises pro-Farrakhan pastor who said gay people should feel ‘uncomfortable’ in their ‘sin’

Harris praises pro-Farrakhan pastor who said gay people should feel 'uncomfortable' in their 'sin'

FIRST ON FOX: Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris visited the mega church of a controversial pastor this past Sunday in a key swing state, where she thanked him for his “leadership” and said she was honored to be in attendance to “celebrate” what he has “accomplished.”Harris attended a church service at the Georgia-based New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, which is under the pastoral leadership of senior pastor Jamal H. Bryant. The longtime pastor has repeatedly praised the antisemitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and said gay people should feel “uncomfortable” in their “sin.”Bryant, who introduced Harris as an “American hero” and “voice of the future,” told the congregation that their unborn grandchildren are going to one day ask where they were on the day of the church service and called on them to “make some noise” for their “fearless leader.””Pastor Bryant, I thank you for your leadership,” Harris said while delivering remarks for about 20 minutes in front of the New Birth congregation. “You and I have discussed that we first met almost 20 years ago when there was a convening of rising stars in the country, and we had conversations back then about how we thought of our role and responsibility to our country and our responsibility and duty as leaders.”BIDEN CABINET OFFICIAL POSES FOR PHOTO WITH ONE OF FARRAKHAN’S ‘TOP SOLDIERS’ AT DNC”It is so good to be with you this morning to celebrate what you have accomplished with this extraordinary congregation,” she added.Bryant, who donated $500 to the Harris campaign a week after President Biden announced that he wasn’t running for re-election, has been a vocal Harris supporter and said earlier this summer that he and other Black leaders were “mobilizing an army” in support of her campaign. “It was a sister that raised you, it was a sister that taught you how to read. It takes a real man to support a woman,” Bryant said during his sermon. He added, “You were born for such a time as this,” referring to Harris.Despite Bryant’s praise for Harris and boosting her candidacy, his past controversial comments could come back to haunt the Harris campaign. He has a long history of praising Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who has espoused antisemitic rhetoric dating back decades, including calling Jews “wicked” and comparing them to termites by saying he was “anti-termite.” Bryant interviewed the Nation of Islam leader in 2015 and said he is “one of the greatest leaders of our people.””We welcome to the Word Network and the entire world, the honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan! We’re honored to have you, sir,” Bryant said while introducing him. “I’m so appreciative to be able to mark in history that I lived in the same chasm of time as one of the greatest leaders of our people.”In a tweet from 2019, Bryant said that he was “humbled” to be in Farrakhan’s presence. His Twitter page has dozens of other tweets related to Farrakhan.TOP BIDEN ADVISER HAS BEEN EMPLOYED FOR DECADES AT CHURCH THAT GAVE PLATFORM TO ANTISEMITES: ‘DEVIL BY NATURE’Bryant has also been critical of the gay community, telling a congregation at the Baltimore Empowerment Temple in 2012 that “homosexuality is not the only sin, but it is a sin,” while adding that it is their “responsibility” to make gay people and other sinners “uncomfortable in [their] sin.” He went on to attack former President Obama for supporting gay marriage and not giving Black pastors a warning, causing them to feel blindsided and betrayed. He told the congregation that Obama was “Black and wrong” and “Black and out of order.”Harris has been a longtime supporter of gay rights and her campaign website says she will “always defend the freedom to love who you love openly and with pride.””In 2004, she officiated some of the nation’s first same-sex marriages and as Attorney General, she refused to defend California’s anti-marriage equality statewide referendum,” her campaign website continued. “As President, she’ll fight to pass the Equality Act to enshrine anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQI+ Americans in health care, housing, education and more into law.”During Harris’ remarks at Bryant’s church, she also gave a shout-out to her controversial hometown pastor and longtime mentor, Rev. Amos Brown, who was in attendance at the church service, calling him a “source of comfort and solace for me for so many years” and praising his “wisdom.”Brown, who has faced backlash for past comments, including blaming the United States for the September 11th attacks and repeatedly defending Obama’s controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright, also delivered remarks during the church service. At one point during his prayer, Brown called for God to “speak to every Black male and have him to know he spits on their graves when he refuses to vote. Speak to every Black male that he will know that we must not trample on the graves of those who gave up their lives for the right to vote.””Thank you, oh God, for this day that we pray for our member and thy servant, Kamala Harris. Oh God, may she know that she moves around this nation. You will guide her. You will protect her, and she will be able to say, ‘I will make the darkness light before thee, and what is wrong I know you will make it right before me and all my battles I will fight before thee.'”Fox News Digital reached out to New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and the Harris campaign for comment but did not receive a response.

Anti-Trump comedian sends out alert over Trump momentum in polls, says it’s time to ‘panic’

Anti-Trump comedian sends out alert over Trump momentum in polls, says it's time to ‘panic’

Actor and comedian Billy Eichner lashed out on Instagram over the current state of the presidential race, declaring that it’s “time to f—— panic” over former President Trump’s momentum in the polls.Eichner, who starred in Disney’s live action “Lion King,” posted a video to the social media site Thursday with a desperate message for liberals to get out and vote because he doesn’t “like the vibe” of this election season.”Everyone has to get in the game here. We have two weeks. We can’t let what happened with Hillary in 2016 happen again,” Eichner said, elsewhere calling Trump “very, very dangerous.”HARRIS CLAIMS TRUMP WIN WOULD BE ‘CATASTROPHIC’ FOR SOCIAL SECURITY, BUT FIRST TERM TELLS DIFFERENT TALEThe comedian opened by stating he’s “getting a lot of texts and feeling a lot of people panicking and then other people saying, ‘No, no, no, don’t panic. Don’t panic.’ And I think those people are wrong.””It is time to f—— panic, Okay? And not just panic but to do something about it.” Eichner went on to comment on how Trump and Kamala are in a dead heat nationally with Trump gaining steam less than two weeks ahead of election day.”I’m just gonna be blunt. I don’t work for the Kamala campaign. I’m just gonna call it like I see it. The polls are not good. Trump has the momentum.”He then trashed the former president as a “f—— rapist, who’s been raping and sexually assaulting women his entire life.”He continued, stating, “He’s a f—— nepo baby, incompetent mother——, who is mentally disintegrating in front of our eyes, and his voters don’t seem to care.”Eichner called on “the rest of us f—— sane people” to “save this country, save the economy, save our most vulnerable citizens – working class people, women who don’t have access to abortions, LGBTQ anyone with half a f——- brain, the education department – which he wants to completely eliminate.”MOST U.S. ADULTS WORRY ABOUT FUTURE OF MEDICARE, SOCIAL SECURITY, GALLUP POLL FINDS: ‘MAGNITUDE OF CONCERN'”He is a danger to the physical safety of American citizens everywhere, not to mention the economy, and to our own control over our personal freedoms – what we do with our body, what gets taught in schools,” Eichner continued.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APPThe actor added that he wasn’t comforted about Harris’ chances when speaking with voters recently.”And I can feel it, I was out talking to voters yesterday. I did not like the vibe.” He then went on to tell his followers where they can find more information on voter registration.

11 Dems join GOP lawmakers to threaten UN funding over ‘ongoing hostility’ to Israel

11 Dems join GOP lawmakers to threaten UN funding over 'ongoing hostility' to Israel

FIRST ON FOX: More than 100 bipartisan House lawmakers are warning that the United Nations’ funding could be on the line if the international entity retaliates against Israel over its war with Hamas.”We write to express our deep concern about prospective efforts of the Palestinian Authority to downgrade Israel’s status at the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA) and strip the State of Israel of its key privileges in the body,” a letter led by Reps. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., and Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla, read.”Any downgrade in Israel’s status or standing at the UNGA will result in a corresponding downgrade of U.S. financial, material and political support to the U.N.”The message, sent to U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, was signed by 105 of their Republican and Democrat colleagues.BLINKEN ARRIVES IN ISRAEL AS BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION FACES SCRUTINY OVER COMPROMISING JERUSALEM’S SECURITY Signatories include all the House Republican leadership, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and 10 House Democrats, in addition to Moskowitz – a testament to the significant support Israel continues to receive from Congress, particularly in the House of Representatives. The lawmakers said they were “outraged” by the UNGA’s recent adoption of a resolution demanding Israel return all land and assets it settled in the Palestinian Territories since 1967. It also calls on nations to halt treaty and trade relations with Israel where Palestinian territories are involved. They warned the decision, particularly as it relates to forcing Israel out of the West Bank, is “undercutting Israel’s right to defend itself” from Hamas after the Oct. 7 terror attack by the Palestinian militant group “with no recognition or consideration of Israel’s legitimate security concerns.”ISRAELI WOMAN BRAVELY DESCRIBES HORROR AS HAMAS HOSTAGE: ‘THEY WERE TAKING PLEASURE IN HURTING ME’ “Congress has taken note of the numerous U.N. actions aimed to delegitimize Israel’s right to self-defense, raising serious questions over the future of U.S. funding to the U.N.,” the lawmakers wrote. “We remind you that the U.S. is the largest donor to the U.N. Our contributions account for one-third of the body’s collective budget.”The letter also accused the U.N. of having “definitively taken sides against Israel,” rather than remaining a “neutral body.””We will not accept the U.N.’s ongoing hostility to our ally Israel,” they wrote.BIDEN-HARRIS ENVOY ACCUSED OF PRESSURING ISRAELI LAWMAKERS TO DROP BILL BANNING TERROR-LINKED UN AGENCYIt comes as cease-fire talks are expected to restart after Israeli forces killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the architect of the Oct. 7 attack.Israel has enjoyed a level of steady support in Congress throughout its war in Gaza, even as a growing number of Democrats are criticizing the Middle Eastern nation for the scores of Palestinian deaths caused as it works to eradicate Hamas.Roughly half of congressional Democrats skipped Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of the House and Senate earlier this year.

The Post endorses Donald Trump for president — the clear choice for a better future

The Post endorses Donald Trump for president — the clear choice for a better future

Voters carry a heavy responsibility in this election — one of the most consequential in the history of this great nation. The choice will have reverberations for decades, deciding which of two very different paths for the future Americans will take. We must choose the following:Only one candidate can credibly claim to lead us there. Donald Trump. If history is any guide, the track records of the last two administrations provide a clearly comparable record. To borrow from Ronald Reagan’s famous “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?”: Voters should ask themselves if they were better off under Trump or Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. His opponents focus on how Trump’s administration was marked by a relentless soap opera of high drama and chaos — much of which they fueled. And yes, many find him offensive — and we say fair enough: He can be ridiculously hyperbolic. But before COVID wreaked havoc across the globe, Trump’s first-term results were paychecks that grew markedly faster than inflation, the lowest unemployment in 50 years, a secure border and peace overseas. In 2021, when Biden-Harris took over, the country took a hard left turn, with disastrous results. Over these nearly four years, inflation has walloped Americans, millions of migrants have crossed the border illegally, some cities have been taken over by gangs and crime, radical and ridiculous culture wars over DEI and gender identity have set neighbor against neighbor. Let’s not forget that overshadowing all of this, the world is on the precipice of widespread war.Today, Trump exhibits the same strength and vigor as he did in 2016, despite the unprecedented and disgraceful weaponization of the justice system against him, two assassination attempts and the all-too-familiar constant barrage of hysterical media attacks on him.Meanwhile, Kamala Harris has rightly been criticized as an underqualified political lightweight because she refuses to answer almost any question about the last four years or reveal any detailed future policy plans.   What may also be just as true is that she doesn’t want the American people to know the full scale of her radical plans, because it would scare them off.Indeed, any close study of her record shows it to be that of a San Francisco progressive. If she wins, Harris will not only co-opt Bidenism but accelerate the progressive hurricane ripping through the fabric of American society. Voters this fall will decide if the future of our country bends toward prosperity, security, freedom, opportunity and innovation.Or stick with ruinous big government largesse, deliberately divisive policies, appeasement and stagnation.Trump wants to free businesses from choking regulations and cut taxes for workers.Harris would risk making inflation worse with even more government “freebies” to special interests — paid for with inflation-feeding debt or job-killing taxes.Trump wants to lift restrictions on oil and gas production and “Drill, baby, drill” — boosting America’s energy independence and making the world less reliant on the West-hating Russia and Iran.Harris co-sponsored the radical Green New Deal in the Senate, which poured billions of dollars down the drain, and boasted about her war on “Big Oil” on her campaign website. Trump treated Iran like the terror sponsor it is — withdrawing from the sham nuclear deal, tightening sanctions and taking out top commander Qassem Soleimani. Meanwhile, Biden-Harris have placated the ayatollahs time and again, while kneecapping Israel, emboldening Tehran and its proxies. The burden is heavy on our shoulders this November. But Trump and Harris want to take us down very different roads — making the choice stark and simple, but vital. Donald Trump is the right choice.
