Ohio social worker accused of having sex with 13-year-old client, faces witness intimidation charges

Ohio social worker accused of having sex with 13-year-old client, faces witness intimidation charges

A 24-year-old social worker in Ohio who is charged with having sex with a 13-year-old boy she was assigned to counsel, now faces additional charges for allegedly trying to intimidate the boy’s family. Columbus, Ohio ABC station WSYX reported that Payton Shires appeared before a judge last week and became emotional as the charges were read to her. Court records show a warrant was issued for Shires’ arrest on Oct. 26. And she was arraigned in court on Oct. 28 on charges of intimidating a witness by force or threat. OHIO SOCIAL WORKER, 24, CHARGED WITH HAVING SEX WITH 13-YEAR-OLD CLIENT: REPORTS During the hearing, prosecutors said Shires showed up at the 13-year-old boy’s home, with a gun. While there, she threatened to kill herself, the station reported, and blamed the family for “ruining her life.” On Oct. 6, Payton was arrested without incident and admitted to a sexual relationship during a three-way call between Shires, the boy’s mother and police, the Columbus Dispatch reported. DRUNK WOMAN WHO GROPED 13-YEAR-OLD VICTIM GIVEN SHOCKINGLY LIGHT PUNISHMENT BY COURT Shires was previously employed by the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP), which provides counseling, social work and advocacy for families involved in the foster care system, the report said. It is unclear when she stopped working for the organization. The boy’s mom called police on Sept. 27 after finding suspicious text messages on the 13-year-old’s cellphone from Shires. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER ACCUSED OF RAPING STUDENT IMPLIES SHE’S PREGNANT WITH HIS CHILD: REPORT When police searched the phone, they found a video of the teen and Shires engaged in sexual conduct, according to court records. The teen reportedly told detectives he had sex with Shires multiple times in September at different locations in Columbus. She was charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and held on $500,000 bond. Because of the new charges, Shires’s bond has been revoked, and she is expected to remain behind bars until her next court appearance scheduled for Nov. 6.

Utah climber rescued after getting stuck in cliff face crack for 12 hours

A climber in Utah was saved after he slipped down a cliff face and got his knee stuck in a crack for 12 hours on Friday night, officials said. Rescuers arrived at the cliff and determined they needed the Classic Air Medical helicopter to fly team members to the top of the cliff so they could rappel down to the stuck climber. UN food program chief says organization lost communication with humanitarian teams in Gaza

UN food program chief says organization lost communication with humanitarian teams in Gaza

The United Nations’ World Food Programme said Saturday the humanitarian organization has lost contact with their aid teams in Gaza amid the ongoing war between Israeli forces and Hamas terrorists. WFP chief Cindy McCain made the announcement on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, after communications to people in Gaza were cut. “The silence is deafening,” McCain wrote. “As conflict rages on, I am extremely worried for the safety of all humanitarian workers and civilians. We are at a tipping point. Humanity must prevail.” This comes during Israel’s continued expansion of its ground attack against Gaza after cutting communications to the region. The residents of Gaza are now left without cellphone or radio service as Israeli forces attack Hamas from the ground, sea and air. NETANYAHU ANNOUNCES ‘SECOND PHASE’ OF ‘LONG AND DIFFICULT’ WAR ON HAMAS: ‘MY LIFE’S MISSION’ More than 8,700 people have been killed in Gaza and Israel since Hamas launched its largest attack against Israel in decades on October 7, leading to retaliatory action from Israeli forces. Thousands more have been wounded, and many others have been taken hostage by Hamas and raped, tortured and murdered. McCain said food assistance from the U.N. has not been able to reach civilians in Gaza because of the recent attacks. “With communications cut in #Gaza, our lifesaving food assistance is at a standstill. We cannot reach staff and partners, or the people who rely on us,” McCain said in another post on X. “We urgently need the ability to operate and sustained access for humanitarian assistance. Every minute counts.” FAMILIES OF ISRAELI HOSTAGES TAKEN BY HAMAS MEETING WITH NETANYAHU SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said the company’s Starlink satellite internet service will support internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza, although a timetable for when the connectivity in the region would be available is unclear given that access to the service requires certain technological equipment. The international community has been working to supply civilians of Gaza with humanitarian aid, including food, water and medical supplies, in the wake of the violence in the region. This aid that began crossing into Gaza includes a 20-truck convoy carrying humanitarian assistance that was delivered to the region through the Rafah border crossing more than a week ago. There have been calls from countries around the world for additional aid to be supplied to civilians stranded in Gaza. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said Saturday morning he was surprised by Israel’s overnight airstrikes in Gaza. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “I was encouraged by what seemed to be a growing consensus for the need of at least a humanitarian pause in the Middle East,” he wrote on X. “Regrettably, instead I was surprised by an unprecedented escalation of bombardments, undermining humanitarian objectives.” The U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees warned last week that relief operations could be significantly cut due to Israel’s blockade of fuel. The organization said fuel deliveries are needed to ensure people in Gaza have clean drinking water, hospitals can remain open and life-saving aid operations can continue.

Colorado’s Shilo Sanders, Deion’s son, ejected for targeting

Colorado's Shilo Sanders, Deion's son, ejected for targeting

The Colorado Buffaloes will be playing the rest of their game Saturday night without one of the head coach’s sons. Shilo Sanders was ejected in the second quarter after a targeting penalty. The safety, the older brother of quarterback Shedeur Sanders, tackled Carsen Ryan of UCLA after he made a 3-yard reception with 3:20 to go in the second.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM The crown of his helmet looked to make contact with the UCLA player’s helmet, and it appeared Sanders left his feet to make the hit. The NCAA defines targeting as “forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder.” Sanders was immediately flagged for the hit, and he flexed after making the tackle. Earlier in the quarter, Sanders forced a fumble the Buffaloes recovered. Sanders began his college career at South Carolina before transferring to Jackson State to play with his brother and for his father. The three moved on to Colorado in the offseason. The Buffs won their first three games of the season, but they’ve lost three of their last four. They won a single game last season.  CALIFORNIA-USC GAME DELAYED AFTER STUDENTS PROTEST PROFESSOR’S STALKING SUSPENSION After their three-game winning streak, they got blown out by Oregon. They almost came back against USC, which was ranked No. 8, and defeated Arizona State on a walk-off field goal before falling to Stanford in overtime two weeks ago. Shilo Sanders wears No. 21, the same number his father wore during his Hall of Fame career. Entering Saturday, the safety had 36 tackles, 30 of them solo, a forced fumble and an interception.
