‘Top Gun: Maverick’ flight instructor’s final moments caught on video before New Mexico air show crash

'Top Gun: Maverick' flight instructor's final moments caught on video before New Mexico air show crash

A “Top Gun: Maverick” flight instructor’s final moments before he plunged to his death in a crash at a New Mexico air show have been captured on video. Footage taken by spectator Terre Blevins shows the aircraft flown by Charles “Chuck” Coleman spiraling downward on Sunday before slamming into the ground at the Las Cruces International Airport. Coleman was participating in an acrobatics performance at the Las Cruces Air and Space Expo. “It was this big puff of dirt,” Blevins told The Las Cruces Bulletin while recounting the crash, “and then I looked at the security guard next to me. I’m like, ‘Did he crash?’ And she just took off running.” An announcer in the video could be heard telling spectators immediately following the crash to “please stay off” social media and that emergency crews were responding to the scene. NAVY IDENTIFIES 2 CREW MEMBERS KILLED IN WASHINGTON STATE JET CRASH Coleman’s website says he was a “flight instructor with over 10,000 hours total flight time” and “flew 140 flights in order to prepare the actors to fly in Navy F-18 Hornets” in the movie “Top Gun: Maverick.” “Chuck was our aerobatics flight instructor and instrumental in our preparation for Top Gun: Maverick. He was an aerospace engineer, air show and test pilot, and our friend and ally,” Miles Teller, one of the stars of the film who played the role of Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, wrote on X. FIERY HOUSTON RADIO TOWER HELICOPTER CRASH CAPTURED ON SURVEILLANCE VIDEO “Chuck had a very easygoing way about him and we always felt comfortable with his expertise at our disposal. He was kind, humble and curious about others and the world we live in,” Teller added. “Gone too soon but his contributions will live on forever. Thanks for the memories, Chuck.” The National Transportation Safety Board told KFOX 14 that it is investigating the crash of the Extra Flugzeugbau GMBH EA 300/L airplane, which happened around 2:30 p.m. local time on Sunday. “Unfortunately, we had a tragic ending to our Air and Space Expo this weekend,” Las Cruces Mayor Eric Enriquez was quoted as saying Monday. “We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones and fans of Chuck Coleman.”

What Michael Jordan is like as a NASCAR boss, according to his star driver

What Michael Jordan is like as a NASCAR boss, according to his star driver

Michael Jordan bestowed the honor of driving his NASCAR team’s signature car, one that bears his own number 23, to Bubba Wallace for the last three years. After joining Jordan in 2021, Wallace earned his first career win at Talladega Superspeedway and earned three top 5 and three top 10 finishes in just his first year as part of Jordan’s team 23XI Racing. He has gone on to become one of the sport’s most famous and polarizing figures and has carved a unique spot for himself in its history as the highest-finishing Black driver in the Daytona 500.Now, he is also a new father. Wallace welcomed his son, Becks Hayden, with his wife Amanda on Sept. 29. As a first time father, Wallace said Jordan is checking on him to make sure he is getting enough sleep. “He just keeps asking if I’m getting enough sleep, and surprisingly enough, we are getting sleep. Becks sleeps pretty good, most nights,” Wallace told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMFor Wallace, it is one of the more empathetic ways his NBA Hall of Famer NASCAR boss manages his top talent. On the other side, however, working for Jordan comes with a lot of verbal insults. “He’s competitive,” Wallace said of Jordan as a boss. “He’s a lot of fun, he’s a guy that you can take jabs at, and he’ll dish it right back, so you have to have thick skin. That’s how I was brought up and raised, and trash talk is half the game, and he’s probably one of the best to do it.” During his NBA career, Jordan developed a reputation as one of the most belligerent and unfiltered trash talkers in the entire game, and it did not stop with opponents. Jordan had a reputation of absolutely verbally obliterating his own teammates. In the famous ESPN docuseries “The Last Dance,” the former Bulls star and his teammates recounted stories of Jordan bullying his own younger teammates.Jordan justified his treatment of these younger teammates in the series as a means to win.”When people see this, they might say ‘well he wasn’t really a nice guy, he might have been a tyrant!’ Well that’s you, because you never won anything,” Jordan said in the docuseries. “I wanted to win, but I wanted them to win and be a part of that as well.”WHY NASCAR STAR BUBBA WALLACE ISN’T MAKING POLITICAL STATEMENTS THIS YEAR AFTER BRASHING TRUMP IN 2020One of Jordan’s other drivers has even said the NBA legend told him he was “terrible” at his sport. Fellow 23XI driver Tyler Reddick said in an interview on Fox Sports’ “Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour,” in September that Jordan berated him while the team was at the Dayton 500 in 2023. “He [Jordan] turned to me and said, ‘Man, you don’t have any room to talk. You’re terrible at speedway racing.’ He just kind of took a shot at me, and I wasn’t expecting it,” Reddick said. “When MJ calls you out about not being very good at it, it’s easy to find motivation to get better.”Wallace, as a part of Jordan’s team that is trying to compete to win in the competitive landscape of NASCAR, has bought into that method. Jordan, as a former transcendent athlete, has offered personal and professional advice to Wallace, and they go out of their way to compare their respective situations to each other for strategic means. However, Wallace questions Jordan’s actual knowledge of NASCAR as a sport.”What it was like for him coming through the league, and try to compare similarities to what it’s like here. And then I just got to school him on his racing knowledge, because he thinks he knows a lot, but there’s a lot to be learned in this sport for sure,” Wallace said. For Wallace, this relationship has not extended too far outside the racetrack, yet. Wallace says he has not even golfed with Jordan in the three years since they started working together. “We like to talk about racing,” Wallace said of his interactions with Jordan. Wallace said he has not engaged in any competitive activity that includes stakes of any kind with the NBA legend. Jordan had a reputation as a notorious gambler during and after his basketball career. It has even been reported through multiple accounts that Jordan would even bet with his teammates on the outcome of pre-recorded interactive races that were played on the jumbotron at the Bulls’ home arena during games. Wallace does not seem to know anything about that side of his boss. What Wallace does know is that Jordan is a great guy to talk about basketball with. When they are at the team facility, one NBA team gets priority in getting played on TV, that being Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets, a team he previously owned but sold in August 2023. “With him being the owner for a while, the Hornets game was always playing at the racetrack,” Wallace said. Jordan purchased the Charlotte-based franchise in 2010 for $275 million. Jordan made a healthy profit when he finally sold the team last year, in a $3 billion sale to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall, and he even stayed on as a minority owner. However, in 13 seasons under his leadership, the team went 423-600, made just three playoff appearances and did not win a single series. During the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season, the then-Bobcats went 7-59, which is the worst record in NBA history. Now, 23XI racing is the biggest sports team Jordan owns in the U.S. The pressure is on Wallace to make sure it does not end up like the Hornets. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Georgia high school shooting suspect pleads not guilty, demands jury trial

Georgia high school shooting suspect pleads not guilty, demands jury trial

Apalachee High School shooting suspect Colt Gray has pleaded not guilty and is now demanding a jury trial. The 14-year-old accused of killing four and wounding nine others during the mass shooting at the Georgia high school on Sept. 4 also has waived an arraignment hearing that had been scheduled for Nov. 21, according to court papers filed by his attorney. A Barrow County grand jury last week indicted Gray on a total of 55 counts as an adult, including murder in the deaths of four people and 25 counts of aggravated assault at the high school. Grand jurors indicted his father, Colin Gray, on 29 counts, including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Both also face multiple counts of cruelty to children. Colin Gray, 54, was arrested and charged for allegedly purchasing the firearm used in the shooting and giving it to Colt for Christmas.  GEORGIA SCHOOL SHOOTING: FATHER AND SON, COLIN AND COLT GRAY, INDICTED BY GRAND JURY The Sept. 4 shooting killed teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53, and students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14. Another teacher and eight more students were wounded, seven of them hit by gunfire. Georgia is one of 42 states nationwide that holds parents criminally responsible on behalf of their children. MOTHER OF APALACHEE HIGH SCHOOL SHOOTING SUSPECT CHARGED WITH ELDER ABUSE, TYING MOTHER TO CHAIR: REPORT Colin Gray had not yet entered a plea as of Tuesday and remained scheduled for his own Nov. 21 arraignment, according to The Associated Press. His son, meanwhile, is demanding a jury trial, Atlanta News First reported. Colt Gray is being held in a juvenile detention center in Gainesville, while Colin Gray is being held in the Barrow County jail. Neither has sought to be released on bail. Colt Gray faces a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole or life with the possibility of parole if convicted. Fox News’ Stepheny Price and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Colin Kaepernick claims he hasn’t watched NFL game in 8 years: ‘I’m not gonna support in that way’

Colin Kaepernick claims he hasn't watched NFL game in 8 years: 'I'm not gonna support in that way'

Colin Kaepernick may remain in NFL shape, but that does not mean the polarizing former quarterback is watching games each week. In fact, he revealed during an appearance at the WSJ Tech Live Conference in California this week that he has not watched an NFL game in eight years. Instead, the quarterback-turned-activist who has not appeared in an NFL game since the 2016 season says that he checks the stats of some players. He also said he watches college football.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM”I still check everybody’s stats,” Kaepernick told the Wall Street Journal’s Andrew Beaton during the conference, per Page Six. “It also informs who my agent reaches out to, but I still check the stats. I see what’s going on. I don’t ever turn a game on though, because I’m not gonna support in that way, but I need to keep my finger on the pulse of what’s happening with quarterbacks out there.”Kaepernick, 36, recently made an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where he not only debunked coaching rumors with the Los Angeles Chargers’ new head coach Jim Harbaugh, who used to be his coach with the San Francisco 49ers, but also said his workouts to remain ready for his next quarterback opportunity are still happening. “I still wake up every morning and train,” he explained. “I’ve had to adjust my schedule a little bit, which saying this out loud sounds a little bizarre, but I get up at 3:30 a.m. and I start my workday, and then I go do my training… I still train every day, I still train the way I was when I was playing, making sure that I’m ready at any given moment.”COLIN KAEPERNICK SAYS HE’LL MAKE SURE BEING ‘HELD OUT’ OF NFL IS REASON WHY HE’S NOT IN ITKaepernick, who infamously created a firestorm by kneeling for the national anthem in games later in his career, last played in an NFL game against the Seattle Seahawks on Jan. 1, 2017. He has had a few workouts with teams since then, but he has yet to join an NFL roster since. While waiting for his next opportunity, Kaepernick built up his social activist platform through Know Your Rights Camp and his Kaepernick Publishing. Through those platforms, Kaepernick made headlines by comparing the NFL Draft to a slave auction, calling for the abolition of law enforcement and suggesting the NFL has not taken meaningful steps to address social injustices.Kaepernick also settled a 2019 grievance against the NFL, when he alleged team owners were colluding to keep him out of the league. Kaepernick told Sky Sports earlier this year that he still believes he can help a team reach the Super Bowl. “It’s something I’ve trained my whole life for, so to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me. I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship,” he said in August. While saying he does not want to coach, Kaepernick has reportedly expressed interest in playing for the United States in flag football during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Kaepernick was the starting quarterback for the 49ers during Super Bowl XLVII but would fall to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31, on Feb. 3, 2013. He went 16-for-28 for 302 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while rushing for a touchdown and 62 yards. Kaepernick has totaled 12,271 passing yards with 72 passing touchdowns over his career, while rushing for 2,300 yards with 13 touchdowns on the ground as well. Fox News’ Ryan Gaydos contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Grieving New Jersey family demands justice for finding unrecognizable body wearing loved one’s clothes

Grieving New Jersey family demands justice for finding unrecognizable body wearing loved one’s clothes

A funeral home in Camden, New Jersey is facing allegations of placing the wrong body in a family’s deceased loved one’s clothes. The family first realized the heartbreaking mistake when they came to inspect the casket ahead of a public viewing.”At or around 4:00 p.m. on February 17th, Plaintiffs approached the casket supposedly holding Addison and became immediately distressed and angered when they saw another unrecognizable corpse dressed in Addison’s clothes and belongings,” according to a complaint filed on Sept. 5 by the family of Jenkins. “The Plaintiffs were shocked, upset, confused and full of tears.”The family of Jenkins is accusing the funeral home of negligence in the handling of human remains, among other charges.FAMILY SUES AFTER FINDING OUT ON TIKTOK FUNERAL HOME SENT MOM’S BODY TO WRONG COUNTRYAddison Jenkins, who passed away in February 2023, had planned his funeral ahead of time, choosing the Boyd Funeral Home in Camden, New Jersey to handle the services. In the complaint, the family alleges that the funeral director wasn’t present when they wanted to express their concerns and that a makeup artist from the funeral home allegedly reassured them the body was of Jenkins. The complaint, however, says the family and funeral home employees “continued to disagree with each other as to whose body was in the casket.”The Jenkins’ were sent photos by the director to prove that it was in fact their deceased loved one, but specific markings on the body did not match their loved ones.  They claim he had a cauliflower ear and a noticeable foot infection, both of which were not present on the body in the casket. When the family viewed the body again on Feb. 18, they requested the casket be open to observe the body, and they were able to confirm it was indeed Jenkins.COLORADO FUNERAL HOME OWNERS FOUND WITH NEARLY 200 DECOMPOSING BODIES, CHARGED WITH COVID FRAUDIn a statement shared with PEOPLE on Tuesday, Oct. 22, Michael Shaw, an attorney representing the plaintiffs, wrote: “What happened to the Jenkins family and their late loved one, Addison Jenkins, is disturbing and reprehensible. To twist the knife, once the Jenkins family informed the funeral home of the wrongful conduct, the callous response was to point blame at my clients by persistently telling them that the wrong and unidentified body was their late loved one. Gaslighting a grieving family after displaying the wrong corpse is cruel and ignoble.”They are asking for compensation and punitive damages according to the complaint via trial by jury.
