Colin Kaepernick claims he hasn’t watched NFL game in 8 years: ‘I’m not gonna support in that way’

Colin Kaepernick claims he hasn't watched NFL game in 8 years: 'I'm not gonna support in that way'

Colin Kaepernick may remain in NFL shape, but that does not mean the polarizing former quarterback is watching games each week. In fact, he revealed during an appearance at the WSJ Tech Live Conference in California this week that he has not watched an NFL game in eight years. Instead, the quarterback-turned-activist who has not appeared in an NFL game since the 2016 season says that he checks the stats of some players. He also said he watches college football.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM”I still check everybody’s stats,” Kaepernick told the Wall Street Journal’s Andrew Beaton during the conference, per Page Six. “It also informs who my agent reaches out to, but I still check the stats. I see what’s going on. I don’t ever turn a game on though, because I’m not gonna support in that way, but I need to keep my finger on the pulse of what’s happening with quarterbacks out there.”Kaepernick, 36, recently made an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where he not only debunked coaching rumors with the Los Angeles Chargers’ new head coach Jim Harbaugh, who used to be his coach with the San Francisco 49ers, but also said his workouts to remain ready for his next quarterback opportunity are still happening. “I still wake up every morning and train,” he explained. “I’ve had to adjust my schedule a little bit, which saying this out loud sounds a little bizarre, but I get up at 3:30 a.m. and I start my workday, and then I go do my training… I still train every day, I still train the way I was when I was playing, making sure that I’m ready at any given moment.”COLIN KAEPERNICK SAYS HE’LL MAKE SURE BEING ‘HELD OUT’ OF NFL IS REASON WHY HE’S NOT IN ITKaepernick, who infamously created a firestorm by kneeling for the national anthem in games later in his career, last played in an NFL game against the Seattle Seahawks on Jan. 1, 2017. He has had a few workouts with teams since then, but he has yet to join an NFL roster since. While waiting for his next opportunity, Kaepernick built up his social activist platform through Know Your Rights Camp and his Kaepernick Publishing. Through those platforms, Kaepernick made headlines by comparing the NFL Draft to a slave auction, calling for the abolition of law enforcement and suggesting the NFL has not taken meaningful steps to address social injustices.Kaepernick also settled a 2019 grievance against the NFL, when he alleged team owners were colluding to keep him out of the league. Kaepernick told Sky Sports earlier this year that he still believes he can help a team reach the Super Bowl. “It’s something I’ve trained my whole life for, so to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me. I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship,” he said in August. While saying he does not want to coach, Kaepernick has reportedly expressed interest in playing for the United States in flag football during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Kaepernick was the starting quarterback for the 49ers during Super Bowl XLVII but would fall to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31, on Feb. 3, 2013. He went 16-for-28 for 302 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while rushing for a touchdown and 62 yards. Kaepernick has totaled 12,271 passing yards with 72 passing touchdowns over his career, while rushing for 2,300 yards with 13 touchdowns on the ground as well. Fox News’ Ryan Gaydos contributed to this report.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Grieving New Jersey family demands justice for finding unrecognizable body wearing loved one’s clothes

Grieving New Jersey family demands justice for finding unrecognizable body wearing loved one’s clothes

A funeral home in Camden, New Jersey is facing allegations of placing the wrong body in a family’s deceased loved one’s clothes. The family first realized the heartbreaking mistake when they came to inspect the casket ahead of a public viewing.”At or around 4:00 p.m. on February 17th, Plaintiffs approached the casket supposedly holding Addison and became immediately distressed and angered when they saw another unrecognizable corpse dressed in Addison’s clothes and belongings,” according to a complaint filed on Sept. 5 by the family of Jenkins. “The Plaintiffs were shocked, upset, confused and full of tears.”The family of Jenkins is accusing the funeral home of negligence in the handling of human remains, among other charges.FAMILY SUES AFTER FINDING OUT ON TIKTOK FUNERAL HOME SENT MOM’S BODY TO WRONG COUNTRYAddison Jenkins, who passed away in February 2023, had planned his funeral ahead of time, choosing the Boyd Funeral Home in Camden, New Jersey to handle the services. In the complaint, the family alleges that the funeral director wasn’t present when they wanted to express their concerns and that a makeup artist from the funeral home allegedly reassured them the body was of Jenkins. The complaint, however, says the family and funeral home employees “continued to disagree with each other as to whose body was in the casket.”The Jenkins’ were sent photos by the director to prove that it was in fact their deceased loved one, but specific markings on the body did not match their loved ones.  They claim he had a cauliflower ear and a noticeable foot infection, both of which were not present on the body in the casket. When the family viewed the body again on Feb. 18, they requested the casket be open to observe the body, and they were able to confirm it was indeed Jenkins.COLORADO FUNERAL HOME OWNERS FOUND WITH NEARLY 200 DECOMPOSING BODIES, CHARGED WITH COVID FRAUDIn a statement shared with PEOPLE on Tuesday, Oct. 22, Michael Shaw, an attorney representing the plaintiffs, wrote: “What happened to the Jenkins family and their late loved one, Addison Jenkins, is disturbing and reprehensible. To twist the knife, once the Jenkins family informed the funeral home of the wrongful conduct, the callous response was to point blame at my clients by persistently telling them that the wrong and unidentified body was their late loved one. Gaslighting a grieving family after displaying the wrong corpse is cruel and ignoble.”They are asking for compensation and punitive damages according to the complaint via trial by jury.

Slain suburban jogger heard screaming on dashcam moments before murder

Slain suburban jogger heard screaming on dashcam moments before murder

A Nashville woman was heard screaming for help by witnesses before she was found dead – police were able to track her alleged killer down using dashcam footage from a helpful civilian and a detective who had worked a case involving his twin.Last week, the Metro Nashville Police Department announced the arrest of 29-year-old Paul Park in connection with the death of 34-year-old Alyssa Lokits. The woman was exercising on the Mill Creek Greenway trail in Nashville on Monday, Oct. 14. Security cameras show Park allegedly emerging from between two parked vehicles and “following her at a brisk pace,” the department wrote in a press release. After the two left the view of the camera, witnesses heard a woman scream “Help! He’s trying to rape me!” Then, police said, the witnesses heard gunfire. SOCIAL MEDIA GIANT PARENT FIRES INTERN FOR ‘MALICIOUSLY’ INTERFERING WITH AI PROJECTPark was seen a short while later with scratches on his arms and blood on his clothing as he returned to his gray BMW sedan. Detectives didn’t get a break in the case until a local resident provided them with dashcam footage, which showed part of Park’s license plate and a clearer image of his face. A homicide detective who reviewed the footage recognized Park as the identical twin brother from a suicide case that she had worked in December 2021, CBS News reported.”I pray that we don’t have an incident where we don’t have a dashcam, or we don’t have someone helping us like we had in this case,” MNPD Chief John Drake said at a press conference. “I’m so thankful that our people got on this – we need technology.”Even without the helpful civilian’s footage, new technology pioneered by artificial intelligence software can help police investigate cases like the Nashville killing. Veritone is one of the companies spearheading that movement.TRUMP POSTS AI-GENERATED PHOTO OF HIMSELF AS STEELERS PLAYER, WEARING NO 47 AHEAD OF APPEARANCE AT GAMEVeritone Track, one of several functions in a suite of services for law enforcement, uses artificial intelligence to run one photo or video of a vehicle – like the video captured on the park’s surveillance footage – against stoplight cameras, body-worn cameras and other municipal surveillance footage available to police to find a match. “Both federal and local law enforcement have a major data problem,” Veritone CEO Ryan Steelberg told Fox News Digital. “They are now capturing body camera [footage] and dashcams. They have cameras all over the city. Citizens are uploading videos.””They simply do not have the budgets or the staff to start going through all this audio and video content,” Steelberg continued. “Machines are needed to help law enforcement sift through this tonnage of data.”WATCH: Veritone CEO explains AI software that can help hunt down suspectsIn cities with high-resolution cameras available to police, Steelberg said, the technology can discern the make and model of a car, and even small imperfections like dents that make it stand out. “Typically, when we’re in an investigation, we are getting very, very good at finding, for example, that white Honda Accord 1986 that has a dent on its left side,” Steelberg said. According to Amnesty International, the New York Police Department has access to more than 20,000 video feeds throughout the city’s streets, subways and parks. Philadelphia police have access to 7,000 camera feeds, The Inquirer reported. MASSACHUSETTS PARENTS SUE SCHOOL DISTRICT OVER STUDENT RECEIVING ‘D’ AFTER USING AI FOR SOCIAL STUDIES PROJECTDrake noted at the press conference on Park’s arrest that more security cameras and license plate readers could help with law enforcement in his city. “One of our members here [was] talking to the Shelbyville police chief, and they just got license plate readers and… 12 cameras,” he said. “Within two hours, they got two stolen cars… I hope that this city realizes that this is a very valuable tool that every county that touches Davidson County has… it’s something that we desperately need.”Retired NYPD inspector and attorney Paul Mauro said that while the software could be useful in some scenarios, like Lokits’ killing, users would be “beholden to the quality [of municipal cameras]” and could potentially face legal issues. “I don’t know if most municipal cameras are up to that,” Mauro told Fox News Digital. “Most municipalities don’t have a lot of money, they can’t hire cops these days – this is all assuming that they have penetrative and accurate cameras.”Mauro cited United States v. Antoine Jones, a 2012 Supreme Court decision that determined Americans have constitutional protections against GPS surveillance by law enforcement, and that GPS tracking is a considered a “search” that requires a warrant under the Fourth Amendment.CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP”Under current law right now, you can put that license plate into an LPR license plate reader and if a license plate reader elsewhere picks it up… that’s perfectly legal. What [Veritone] seems to be promising is that they can do that to cars without the necessity of getting a plate,” Mauro explained.”But if you go any further than that, let’s say for instance: ‘Look, we got this car, we don’t know who’s driving it but put it into the AI so we can follow it around and see who he visits,’ that’s a very different story.””[If needed], you can get a search warrant – there’s no reason that you can’t get a search warrant,” Mauro said.

But when the man’s wife found out about the relationship, he broke it off, according to court documents. Alolaimi and Bishtawi then allegedly conspired to kidnap and kill the man.”It’s alleged you are both married to other people and when the complaining witness’ wife found out about the relationship the complaining witness broke off the relationship,” a judge told Alolaimi in court as he was reading probable cause to her and her husband.TEXAS TEACHER CHARGED FOR ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF UNDERAGED FORMER STUDENT: POLICEThe couple had arrived at a Chick-fil-A in Houston and waited for the victim, a Doordash driver who Alolaimi was having an affair with, to show up. When the victim attempted to escape, Bishtawi shot him twice. The victim was shot in the thigh and in his foot but was rushed to a hospital and survived. The man told KHOU he ended the relationship with Alolaimi three months ago because it turned toxic but that she refused to leave him alone and even showed up at his new apartment. 94 days: Kamala Harris has yet to do formal press conference since emerging as Democratic nominee

94 days: Kamala Harris has yet to do formal press conference since emerging as Democratic nominee

Vice President Kamala Harris has gone 94 days as the presumptive, and now, official Democratic nominee for president without holding an official press conference. Trump has held six news conferences where he took questions from the media since the beginning of August, including another this month after meeting with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp about hurricane relief efforts. Harris did a brief, informal gaggle with media members on Monday in Michigan.President Biden also held a news conference in the White House press briefing room earlier this month.Harris also ended her streak of not appearing on Fox News last week, however, sitting for an interview in Pennsylvania with chief political anchor Bret Baier.KAMALA HARRIS ASSERTS HER PRESIDENCY ‘WILL NOT BE A CONTINUATION’ OF BIDEN’SHarris has stepped up her interviews in recent weeks, including doing radio hits, friendly appearances with “The View,” Stephen Colbert and Howard Stern and other media appearances. But as for when she’ll actually do a formal press conference as a candidate, that day may never come, at least while she’s still a candidate.Conservative Radio Libre host Jorge Bonilla feels Harris should do a press conference but said it’s almost “irrelevant” because she continues to get a pass. HARRIS DODGES QUESTION ON LOWERING PRICES BY DESCRIBING ‘MIDDLE-CLASS’ ROOTS: NEIGHBORS ‘PROUD OF THEIR LAWN’”She is highly unlikely to do a press conference because the media have enabled and encouraged her ‘plexiglass basement’ strategy, wherein she preserves the illusion of being out there while remaining wholly inaccessible to the press and therefore unaccountable,” Bonilla told Fox News Digital.Trump has skipped several potential interviews in recent days, but he showed up at the annual Al Smith dinner that has historically featured the presidential candidates doing lighthearted roasts. Harris decided not to attend, sending a video message instead.CBS NEWS BREAKS ITS SILENCE OVER EDITING ALLEGATIONS IN ‘60 MINUTES’ INTERVIEW WITH HARRISHarris also did an interview this month on “60 Minutes” that has generated controversy due to the show’s editing choices with an answer she gave to a question about Israel. In a preview of the interview on Oct. 6, CBS aired one portion of her answer but appeared to air a completely different part of it during the actual special on Oct. 7.Fox News Digital’s Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

Mississippi teen killer’s defense advocates for new trial because she was in horse ‘therapy,’ hearing voices

Mississippi teen killer's defense advocates for new trial because she was in horse ‘therapy,' hearing voices

The defense attorney for 15-year-old Carly Gregg says their client deserves a new trial because she was previously treated for hearing voices using horse therapy. In Sept., a jury in Rankin County, Mississippi, found Gregg, 15, guilty on all counts, and prosecutor Kathryn Newman said Gregg had shown “zero remorse.”The teen was charged with murder and aggravated assault in the March 19 shooting that killed her mother, 40-year-old Ashley Smylie, and wounded her stepfather, Heath Smylie. She was also charged with tampering with evidence for hiding a security camera after the shooting. On the first and second counts, Gregg was sentenced to life in prison. On the third count, she received 10 years.TEEN KILLER CARLY GREGG SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR GUNNING DOWN MOTHER AFTER SHOCKING VIDEO SURFACEDViral footage, shown in the trial, showed the chilling moments when the teen opened fire on her mother. Now, Gregg’s defense said that the teen’s father revealed that she was “placed in equestrian therapy as a young child due to experiencing auditory hallucinations.””This new information supports Dr. Clark’s diagnosis of unspecified schizophrenic disorder and is likely to lead to a different result at a new trial,” the defense said. “As such, Carly is entitled to a new trial.”READ THE RULING– APP USERS, CLICK HERE:The defense argued that the “undisputed evidence” of the circumstances leading up to Gregg’s action should result in a mistrial.”The undisputed evidence at trial of Carly’s mental illness, loving relationship with her mother and stepfather, absence of prior criminal charges, absence of prior violence, good school record, maternal family support, community support, the victim’s testimony that Carly was not in her right mind and did not recognize him at the time of the offense, and the State’s admission to an absence of motive to commit the alleged crimes do not support the verdict or sentence in this case,” the defense wrote.MISSISSIPPI TEEN MURDER SUSPECT CAUGHT ON CAMERA IN CHILLING FOOTAGE AFTER ALLEGEDLY KILLING MOTHER”Therefore, this matter calls for a new trial, or in the alternative, a judgment notwithstanding the verdict,” they said.Judge Dewey Arthur disagreed in a decision, saying that no information revealed warranted a new trial.”This Court specifically finds that no new and material [sic] has been discovered which probably would produce a different result at trial and, by reasonable diligence, this evidence could not have been discovered sooner,” Arthur wrote.”The Court reviewed the statements and finds these statements would not have probably produced a different result at trial,” he said.
