Illegal immigrant faces hate crime, terrorism charges in shooting of Jewish man in Chicago

Illegal immigrant faces hate crime, terrorism charges in shooting of Jewish man in Chicago

An illegal immigrant suspected of shooting a Jewish man multiple times as he made his way to a Chicago Synagogue is now facing terrorism and hate crime charges in connection to the incident.Chicago Police Department Chief Larry Snelling announced during a press conference Thursday that Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, 22, was charged with one felony count of terrorism and one felony count of a hate crime. “We want everybody to know that we will never tolerate violence that’s rooted in hate and bigotry,” Snelling said. “This shooting is deeply personal to members of our Jewish community. We know that. But this shooting should be personal to everyone across the city.”The new charges were in addition to the more than a dozen felony charges Abdallahi was already facing, which included: six counts of attempted first-degree murder, seven counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm at a police officer or firefighter, and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm.JEWISH COMMUNITY ‘SHAKEN’ AFTER CHICAGO MAN SHOT ON WAY TO SYNAGOGUE, ATTACKER FIRED AT POLICEThe slew of charges came after he targeted a 39-year-old Jewish man on Oct. 26 in Chicago’s West Rogers Park neighborhood. The victim, an Orthodox Jewish man, was wearing a kippah while walking to his synagogue.Police said that Abdallahi was identified less than 30 minutes after the shooting, at which point he allegedly shot at responders before police “returned fire, striking the offender.”Abdallahi is a Mauritanian illegal immigrant who was released into the U.S. last year, Fox News previously confirmed.During the incident, no members of the police or fire departments were injured, but Abdallahi remains hospitalized.ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION STATUS REVEALED IN SHOOTING OF JEWISH MAN IN DEM-CONTROLLED CITYInvestigators have not been able to interview the suspect due to his injuries, Snelling said. Detectives looked through digital evidence to establish a case, including evidence from his phone that indicated he targeted people of the Jewish faith, the chief said.”I want to make this clear to everybody in every community. We did not secure these charges because of public pressure, or because of media attention,” Snelling said. “Gathering evidence and facts takes time, and we have to do it in a timely fashion so that we don’t impede the possibility of getting charges. We will never do things just based on a belief. We need proof.”Fox News’ Greg Norman contributed to this report.

Trump Had an ‘America First’ Foreign Policy. But It Was a Breakdown in American Policymaking.

Vance tells Rogan he initially thought Trump had been killed in July assassination attempt: ‘I was so pissed’

Vance tells Rogan he initially thought Trump had been killed in July assassination attempt: 'I was so pissed'

Vice presidential candidate JD Vance told Joe Rogan that he felt compelled to guard his family immediately after the first assassination attempt on former President Trump.Vance appeared as a guest on an episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” released Thursday where he recalled his initial reaction to the assassination attempt against Trump during a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The Ohio senator was announced as Trump’s VP pick two days later.”I go back home to Ohio, he gets shot, you know, the initial reaction was, I actually thought they had killed him, because when you first see the video, he grabs his ear, and then he goes down, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, they just killed him,’ and I was so pissed,” Vance said.”But then I go into like fight-or-flight mode. With my kids, I’m like, you know, ‘Alright kids’ – We’re at a mini-golf place in Cincinnati, Ohio. I grab my kids up, throw them in the car, go home, and load all my guns, and basically stand like a sentry at our front door and that was my- that was sort of my action to it,” he said.JOE ROGAN SAYS HARRIS SITDOWN WAS SCRAPPED AFTER CAMPAIGN TOLD HIM SHE ‘ONLY WANTED TO DO AN HOUR’The pair discussed the attempted assassin, with both agreeing this was a uniquely “bizarre” case. Vance noted how strange it was that the shooter was allowed to get so close.”An AR-15 from 140 yards away is a potshot,” Vance said, later adding, “It is shocking that [Trump’s] alive.””I’m a person of faith, but I think it’s a genuine miracle that that guy didn’t kill him,” Vance continued. “But how did he get so close? There’s a lot of really big questions that we should be asking.” He recalled how people were yelling and trying to warn local law enforcement that there was a person on the roof.”Nobody responded to it, and it’s- the whole thing is very fishy to me,” Vance said. “And I hope that we win and then get to the bottom of it, because I think somebody clearly screwed up.”JEFF BEZOS ADDRESSES WASHINGTON POST ENDORSEMENT FIASCO, CITES DISTRUST IN MEDIA LED TO ‘PRINCIPLED DECISION’”It doesn’t seem like ‘just screwed up,’” the podcast host said. “Like, the excuse that the lady from the Secret Service had that they couldn’t put snipers on the roof because the roof was sloped? Like, all of it is bananas.””That’s ridiculous, that’s ridiculous,” Vance agreed.

Trump makes play for blue-leaning state as he briefly detours from the battlegrounds

Trump makes play for blue-leaning state as he briefly detours from the battlegrounds

It’s been two decades since a Republican carried New Mexico in a presidential election. You’ve got to go back to President George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election.But former President Trump, making a brief detour from campaigning in the seven crucial battleground states that will likely determine whether he or Vice President Kamala becomes the next president, parachuted into the one-time swing state that now leans blue.”Look, I’m only here for one reason,” Trump told supporters Thursday at a rally in Albuquerque, the state’s largest city. CHECK OUT THE LATEST FOX NEWS POWER RANKINGS IN THE 2024 ELECTION”They said, ‘Oh, a Republican can’t win that state.’ They say a Republican can’t win. But you know what? We’re going to win it,” the former president optimistically predicted.Trump also said his stop in New Mexico was good for his “credentials” with Hispanic voters. WHAT THE MOST RECENT FOX NEWS POLLS SHOW IN THE HARRIS-TRUMP SHOWDOWN”I’m here for one simple reason. I like you very much, and it’s good for my credentials with the Hispanic or Latino community,” he argued. The former president is facing backlash from some Latino voters after a comedian speaking at his large rally in New York City Sunday called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”There hasn’t been an abundance of polling in New Mexico, but most recent surveys indicate the vice president with an upper single-digit lead over the former president. Although one survey suggested a tighter contest for the state’s five electoral votes. With time such a precious commodity for presidential campaigns and the clock quickly ticking toward Election Day, New Mexico Democrats said Trump’s trip to the state — his first in five years — is a fool’s errand.”Trump is wasting his time coming to our state as polling shows New Mexicans are set to reject his MAGA extremism and divisive rhetoric yet again,” Democratic Party of New Mexico spokesperson Daniel Garcia claimed in a statement ahead of the former president’s trip.Referring to the Oct. 31 stop in Albuquerque by the former president, Garcia took a verbal shot at Trump, saying “a rotund orange mass will be in Albuquerque on Halloween, and we’re not talking about a pumpkin.”Trump urged his supporters to get out and vote, saying, “New Mexico. Look, don’t make me waste a whole damn half a day here, OK.”While the former president’s New Mexico rally five days before Election Day may not boost him in the battle for the state’s five electoral votes, it could boost Republicans down ballot.Nella Domenici, the 2024 GOP Senate nominee and the daughter of New Mexico’s last Republican senator, is trying to defeat Democratic Sen. Martin Heinrich, who is running in November for a third six-year term, as her party works to win back the chamber’s majority.”Trump is definitely going to help us with the independents,” Domenici predicted in a Fox News Digital interview on the eve of the former president’s visit. “People are really excited to have Trump come here.”Domenici, who spoke at the Trump rally, emphasized that “it definitely excites the base hugely, and the base is kind of a growing term.”Get the latest updates from the 2024 campaign trail, exclusive interviews and more at our Fox News Digital election hub.

San Jose State requests lost revenue damages after opponents forfeit amid transgender controversy

San Jose State requests lost revenue damages after opponents forfeit amid transgender controversy

Five schools have forfeited or canceled matches against San Jose State University’s women’s volleyball team, who roster trans player Blaire Fleming.Southern Utah, Boise State, Wyoming, Utah State and Nevada have all opted not to play the school within the last several weeks. The latter four matches were all ruled no contests, but conference victories for San Jose State – they all play in the Mountain West.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThe matches against Boise State and Utah State were slated to be home contests for the Spartans. Well, since they were not played, OutKick is reporting that SJSU has asked for money from two of those opponents, saying they lost out on revenue.OutKick says San Jose State confirmed that they asked both Boise State and Utah State for $1,250.One email from San Jose State athletics director Jeff Konya to Boise State’s AD Jeremiah Dicket reads, “Your institution’s arbitrary decision not to play an otherwise eligible NCAA team has resulted in harm to SJSU financially and our institution’s brand. We estimate we missed out on approximately $1,250 in game day revenue by not playing the [match] on Saturday when you add all of the various revenue sources (i.e., concessions, parking among others). I would ask to be made whole at the very least.” NEVADA AD ADDRESSES ALLEGATIONS OF PUSHING VOLLEYBALL WOMEN TO FACE TRANS ATHLETE, SAYS SHE APOLOGIZEDBoise State confirmed to OutKick they did not pay SJSU, but did not provide a reason. Utah State did not respond to them.San Jose State player Brooke Slusser joined a lawsuit headed by OutKick host and former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines against the NCAA due to its policies on gender identity. Slusser joined this lawsuit because she claims that she has had to share a court, a locker room and even a room on overnight trips with her teammate Blaire Fleming without having ever been told that Fleming was a biological male. Security concerns and threats against San Jose State players have made traveling for matches a high-risk endeavor for the lady Spartans. San Jose State previously confirmed to Fox News Digital that police protection had been assigned to the team, shortly after getting the first news of an opponent forfeiting, when Southern Utah announced that it would not play its match against the Spartans in September.Former President Donald Trump has gone so far as to advocate for a ban, in a recent town hall event on Fox News.”We’re not going to let it happen,” Trump said of the issue. “We stop it, we stop it, we absolutely stop it. We can’t have it.”You just ban it. The president bans it. You don’t let it happen. It’s not a big deal.”Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

CNN host clashes with GOP lawmaker over Trump saying he’ll protect women whether they ‘like it or not’

CNN host clashes with GOP lawmaker over Trump saying he'll protect women whether they 'like it or not'

CNN anchor John Berman grilled Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., over former President Trump’s recent comments that he will protect women whether they “like it or not.”The two debated the nature of the comments, with Berman suggesting they were sexist, while Donalds accused him of glossing over the fact that Trump is promising to protect innocent Americans from criminal illegal immigrants.  “John, that is grossly inaccurate what you just played,” Donalds said on “CNN News Central” Thursday morning. “He was talking about the tragedy at our southern border that led to the death of Jocelyn Nungaray.”TRUMP TRASHES BIDEN’S INSULT IN A GARBAGE TRUCKBerman opened the conversation by playing a brief snippet from the former president’s rally in Wisconsin Wednesday, where he wore a high visibility vest onstage after posing for photos riding shotgun in garbage truck earlier that afternoon. At one point during rally, Trump joked about being told by his advisors not to portray himself as a protector of women.”They said, ‘Sir, I just think it’s inappropriate for you to say.’ I pay these guys a lot of money; can you believe it?” Trump said, adding, “I said, ‘Well, I’m going to do it whether the women like it or not. I’m going to protect them. I’m going to protect them from migrants coming in. I’m going to protect them from foreign countries that want to hit us with missiles and lots of other things.’”Berman played a snippet of the moment, though he cut off the portion of the clip referring to illegal immigrants and other foreign adversaries. He then asked Donalds, “Alright, why is Donald Trump telling women he will do things whether they like it or not?”Donalds slammed Berman’s framing, first calling him out for ignoring the context and then noting how Trump was just making “a joke” about ignoring political advice.”And then he was just telling a joke – really, he was telling a joke about how some of the staff said, ‘No don’t say you would protect women because they would take it out of context’ – obviously what CNN is doing right now,” he said, slamming Berman’s network.CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTUREThe CNN host then tried to speak over him, saying, “No, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. You have the exact right conte – you have the exact right context here, Congressman.” Still, Donalds pressed on, stressing how Trump was talking about protecting women and children from “violent illegal alien criminals who have raped and who have murdered women in the United States.”Berman again admitted that Donalds had the right context, but wanted him to answer whether the language Trump used was inappropriate or not. “His advisers were telling him not to use that type of language and say, ‘I‘m going to be your protector.’ And that is the context in that speech.”Donalds seemed exasperated with the approach, telling the host, “John, you need to stop.”Berman continued, “And then he said, ‘I‘m going to protect them – the women – whether they like it or not.’””And I‘m not the only one asking you about this language,” the anchor continued, as Donalds again said, “John, you need to stop.”BIDEN CALLS TRUMP SUPPORTERS ‘GARBAGE’ DURING HARRIS CAMPAIGN EVENT AS VP PROMISES UNITY AT ELLIPSE RALLYBerman forced the issue and played a clip of former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s recent comments that Trump’s campaign is employing too much “bromance, masculinity stuff” in its campaign messaging that will “make women uncomfortable.”After CNN played the clip, Berman asked, “So you’re telling me there’s no concern for Nikki Haley, or – clearly as Donald Trump said – from people close to him, his campaign, about the type of language he’s using?”Donalds replied, “John, listen I love the selective editing this morning.  You guys are conflating two very separate things. Let‘s get to the core of the message that you played at the beginning: Donald Trump was talking about protecting women and children in our country from the ravages of illegal immigration.””You see it now,” he continued, “We all know the headlines. Jocelyn Nungaray, Rachel Morin, Laken Riley – these are women who were brutalized, killed, raped… And so Donald Trump is going to protect women in our country. He’s going to protect women in our country.”Berman sidestepped Donalds point and again spoke over him, asking, “Why say – why say whether they like it or not?” He repeated the question multiple times while Donalds attempted to explain the importance of protecting women by securing the border. The lawmaker replied, “This is why the American people frankly are frustrated with media because you guys play games, you take things out of context. You don‘t explain them clearly, and you want to get caught up in semantics.”
