Nevada Senate hopefuls tackle trans athletes, immigration and UFOs in only debate

Nevada Senate hopefuls tackle trans athletes, immigration and UFOs in only debate

Incumbent Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen and Republican opponent Sam Brown sparred on a range of topics Thursday night during their one and only face-off for the crucial battleground state of Nevada. The debate, hosted by KLAS, touched on the issues of immigration to abortion to recent UFO investigations.  Both candidates were asked about immigration – a top election issue for voters across the nation this cycle.Asked if he supported mass deportations, an idea floated by former President Donald Trump, Brown said that he supported “securing our border on day one” and backs the former president’s policies on the issue.SENATE HOPEFUL SAM BROWN, TULSI GABBARD SHOW SUPPORT FOR NEVADA WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM AMID SJSU TRANS DRAMAThe Republican took a swing at Rosen on the issue, saying the senator’s “own neighborhood has more security than our border.”Asked about the border, Rosen said she supported passing bipartisan border legislation and claimed that Trump is playing “political football” with the issue. The candidates were also questioned on UFOs and whether they support more transparency on unidentified flying objects, with the debate hosts noting that Nevada is home to many claims of such sightings.‘HAS DONE NOTHING’: GOP SENATE HOPEFUL RIPS DEM OPPONENT FOR NOT HOLDING BIDEN-HARRIS ACCOUNTABLE ON KEY ISSUE”I think I’m just as curious as anyone. I’d love to know what’s going on,” Brown said. “I’m not sure I fully trust Congress to figure this out. Maybe Elon Musk can.”Rosen, who is seeking a second term in the Senate this cycle, said she thinks “its important that we do our independent investigation.”The candidates sparred on the issue of energy.Brown tied energy and the economy together, suggesting that Rosen is prioritizing green energy projects that are raising costs. The Democratic senator, however, touted the green energy policies passed under her leadership.Brown said that he would not vote for any national abortion ban and that he supports Nevada’s current state law on the issue.Asked if she supports any limits on abortion, Rosen said “I support Roe v. Wade.”The debate wrapped with questions on the issue of biological males competing in women’s sports. On Wednesday, Brown joined players on the Nevada Wolf Pack women’s volleyball team who refused to play against the San Jose State Spartans over the program’s biological male player. “I can tell you that all student athletes deserve to have a fair competition and a level playing field,” Rosen said, adding that she supports “parents, coaches, and the governing leagues,” deciding whether biological males should compete in women’s sports.Brown called Rosen’s response “shameful.””What we just heard was a politician say that she does not have enough knowledge on this issue,” the Republican said. “I will not support biological males competing in women’s sports.” The candidates didn’t butt heads the entire night, both agreeing on their support for no taxes on tips, Israel’s right to defend itself, and affordable housing.

Saints face ridicule for bizarre decisions before halftime: ‘Seems like they want to get their coach fired’

Saints face ridicule for bizarre decisions before halftime: 'Seems like they want to get their coach fired'

The New Orleans Saints were no match for the Denver Broncos on Thursday night as they suffered a 33-19 on their home field. The cherry on top of the night for fans watching and commenting on the game on social media was two bizarre decisions right before halftime.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMNew Orleans was about to enter the break, down 16-3, following a Broncos field goal with about 16 seconds left. Spencer Rattler threw a 1-yard pass to Alvin Kamara, and the Saints took a timeout to stop the clock. Rattler then threw a 5-yard pass to Kamara with 11 seconds left. The Saints decided to take a timeout when they were on their own 36-yard line. Was it to gear up for a long pass? Maybe a trick play to try to fool the Broncos defense? Would Rattler surprise fans at the Caesars Superdome?None of the above.Out of the Saints’ third timeout, Rattler took a knee to end the quarter.STEELERS’ JUSTIN FIELDS ACKNOWLEDGES ON-FIELD PERFORMANCE HASN’T SOLIDIFIED HIM SPOT AS QB1Former NFL star Richard Sherman was quite perplexed over the decision. He expressed it as much during Prime Video’s halftime show.”I’m confused, I’m vexed, I’m perplexed. I don’t get it,” Sherman said. “They don’t want to tackle. They don’t want to make plays. These are good players. Tyrann Mathieu is a good player. The easiest interception of his life. … and he drops it. I see guys not having effort to get to the ball carrier, to make tackles. Like, I don’t understand this. It seems like they want to get their coach fired. That’s the effort they’re playing with.”Hey Denis Allen, you call a timeout so we can watch your quarterback taka a knee? Do you want to torcher these Saints fans? They’re going to be waiting at his car after this game.”Other fans chimed in as well.Allen said after the game he didn’t agree with Sherman’s take on players’ effort and wanting to get him fired.”We have to stand up and lead,” Allen said, via NOLA.com. “We’re the only ones who’s going to get us out of here. It’s not like there’s a draft in the middle of the season, there’s no one coming to be our savior.”The Saints have dropped five games in a row.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

LIZ CLAMAN: My shocking October 7 experience at a UN riddled with antisemitism

LIZ CLAMAN: My shocking October 7 experience at a UN riddled with antisemitism

Growing up in Los Angeles in the 1970s, I have a distinct memory of my father, a surgeon originally from Canada, railing against the United Nations. “They’re a bunch of antisemites,” he would fulminate.  I was too young to understand what he meant or even really care at my young age about the United Nations. But earlier this month, some 50 years later, as I arrived at the U.N. in New York City to emcee the Israeli Mission to the United Nations’ marking of the one-year anniversary of the October 7th Hamas terror attacks on Israel, right then and there my father’s words took form in a stunning way.‘FEELING THREATENED’: JEWISH STUDENTS AT NEW YORK PROTESTS SPEAK AGAINST ANTISEMITISM, REFLECT ON OCT. 7As my colleague and I entered the security lanes armed with U.N.-issued VIP passes and accompanied by a U.N. intern, I was stopped as I sent my purse through the X-ray machine. My purse had just emerged from the machine when the female guard who was monitoring the screen asked me if she could look inside it.  I said, “of course.” As she dug through it, she glanced up at me and saw my necklace. I was wearing a dog tag that’s now commonly worn since October 7th to highlight the hundreds of Israelis, Americans, French, Bedouins, Thai and Bangladeshi civilians taken hostage by the terrorists. The tag is engraved with the words “Bring Them Home Now” in both English and Hebrew. The guard reached out and grabbed the tag, scrutinized it and in an accusatory tone said, “What is this? This is religious.”  Put aside for a moment the fact that religious symbols, whether they be Christian crosses, Stars of David or head scarfs, are common at the U.N. A statement about freeing hostages is not ‘religious.’  She then glared at my colleague, pointed to her dog tag necklace and poked at the charm my colleague had added that’s in the shape of the State of Israel– the same state the U.N. played a pivotal role in establishing back in 1947 with Resolution 181. ANTI-ISRAEL RHETORIC INTENSIFIES IN CRITICAL BATTLEGROUND CITY: ‘UTTERLY CHILLING’As I began to explain that I was attending the October 7th one-year anniversary event as the ceremony host, the guard refused to look me directly in the eye and instead pulled out from my purse the script I had prepared for the event and began reading it.I was filled with a mix of fury and confusion.Tensions began rising as I asked to see a supervisor. The supervisor was called and quickly arrived.  He, along with two other security guards, examined my dog tag as if it were something that had fallen from outer space.  I clearly stated, “I’m here for the Israeli’s October 7th event.  The necklace is a sign of support for the hostages.” That’s when another supervisor rushed up and said, “It’s fine. You can pass through.” But I was so livid I wasn’t ready to pass through.  I looked at him and said, “600 people are coming to this event, including hostage families and parents of the victims. A good number of them will be wearing these.  Are you going to hold up every single one of them?”He assured me that “going forward from this moment on” no one wearing the dog tag would be bothered by security. So, this is where we are today. The United Nations–an international body with a history of one-sided, hostile bias against Israel– allows a security guard to feel she has the freedom to harass a Jewish invited guest for wearing a 1 ½ inch long metal dog tag honoring civilians who were ripped from their homes, taken hostage and shoved into terrorist tunnels where they have remained FOR A YEAR. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONIt became clear to me that the U.N.’s institutional hostility toward Israel has permeated down to security guard employees clearing visitors to what is supposed to be a body encouraging understanding among diverse peoples of the world. This is the same governing body whose mission statement is to take “effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to peace and acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace.”When the memorial event began in a U.N. auditorium chock-full of ambassadors, grieving parents of victims, clergy, and devout Muslim Ali al-Ziadna, an Arab-Israeli who saw four relatives taken hostage on October 7th, Ambassador Danon bluntly crystalized the United Nations’ ugly history of anti-Israel bias. “We stand here today in the United Nations, an institution that has failed us time and time again,” Danon said.  “When the massacre of October 7th unfolded. The U.N. refused to act. It could not find the most basic morality to condemn the brutal murder of innocent civilians. Instead of standing with the innocent, this institution remained silent. Then, when it finally found its voice, it did not speak for justice. It chose to vilify the country fighting to protect its people from the monsters who massacred them. The U.N. has failed in its most basic mandate to protect the innocent and condemn evil.”In what world is slaughtering 1,200 civilians, raping and mutilating women and burning alive innocent babies not an act of aggression or a breach of the peace? The answer: in the UN’s view of the world.   CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM LIZ CLAMAN

Crunch time: Harris to team up with Barack and Michelle Obama next week in key battlegrounds

Crunch time: Harris to team up with Barack and Michelle Obama next week in key battlegrounds

As the 2024 election showdown between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump reaches the home stretch, Harris will team up next week with arguably the two most popular Democrats in the country. The Harris campaign announced on Friday that the vice president will join former President Barack Obama and his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama, for get-out-the-vote events in two of the seven crucial battleground states – Georgia and Michigan.According to the campaign, Harris will team up with the Obamas in Georgia on Thursday, Oct. 24. Early voting kicked off in the key southeastern battleground earlier this week and instantly set a new record.Harris advisers also said that the vice president will join forces again on the campaign trail in Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 26, the day that early voting gets underway statewide in the crucial Great Lakes battleground.CAMPAIGN BATTLE BETWEEN THE BILLIONAIRES: MARK CUBAN AND ELON MUSK HIT THE TRAIL FOR HARRIS AND TRUMPThis will be the first time that Harris has teamed up with either Obama on the campaign trail since she replaced President Biden atop the Democrats’ 2024 ticket nearly three months ago. KAMALA HARRIS TEAMS UP WITH THESE ANTI-TRUMP REPUBLICANS The Obamas – longtime friends of Harris – officially endorsed her for president in July, five days after Biden’s blockbuster announcement that he was dropping his re-election bid and backing his vice president. The former president and former first lady made the case for Harris during back-to-back headlining addresses at the Democratic National Convention in August in their hometown of Chicago. And the former president hit the campaign trail for Harris a week ago, in Pennsylvania – which is arguably the most crucial of all seven battleground states that will likely determine the outcome of the presidential election. The former president is scheduled to return to the campaign in the coming days, with stops in Tucson, Arizona, Las Vegas, Nevada, Detroit, Michigan, and Madison, Wisconsin. CHECK OUT THE LATEST FOX NEWS POWER RANKINGS IN THE 2024 ELECTIONWith a razor-thin margin of error race for the White House, both the Harris and Trump campaigns are scrambling to win over and turn out voters as early in-person, absentee, and mail-in balloting is now under way in roughly 40 states across the country. The Harris campaign aims to use these campaign events to boost voter enthusiasm among the vice president’s supporters in order to get out the vote ahead of Election Day on Nov. 5, as well as to boost volunteer engagement to help voter turnout.States have long allowed at least some Americans to vote early, like members of the military or people with illnesses. Many states expanded eligibility in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic made it riskier to vote in-person.That year, the Fox News Voter Analysis found that 71% of voters cast their ballots before Election Day, with 30% voting early in-person and 41% voting by mail.Early voting remained popular in the midterms, with 57% of voters casting a ballot before Election Day.Fox News Digital’s Kellianne Jones and Rémy Numa contributed to this report. Get the latest updates from the 2024 campaign trail, exclusive interviews and more at our Fox News Digital election hub.

Dodgers dominate Mets again, take commanding 3-1 lead in NLCS

Dodgers dominate Mets again, take commanding 3-1 lead in NLCS

The Los Angeles Dodgers are showing why they have been the World Series favorites all year. They put up yet another dominant performance over the New York Mets in Game 4 of the NLCS on Thursday, rolling to a 10-2 win and taking a commanding 3-1 lead in the National League Championship Series.Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani got things started with a bang, hitting his third homer of the postseason in the top of the first inning. New York answered right back, though, with a solo shot by Mark Vientos in the bottom half of the first. The Dodgers got back-to-back, two-out hits in the third inning that each drove in a run, but the Mets quickly cut that deficit back to one.CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMIn the fourth, Mookie Betts drove in two runs with a double, putting L.A. up, 5-2. Two innings later, Betts blasted a two-run homer, and it was a five-run lead for the Dodgers. New York loaded the bases with none out in the sixth, but they did not get a run across, deflating the Citi Field crowd. To add insult to injury, the Dodgers added three runs in the eighth to ice it.The win came despite the Dodgers resting Freddie Freeman, who has been playing with a badly sprained ankle. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts didn’t commit to playing Freeman in all three games in New York, but he did say after Game 3 that he expected Freeman in Thursday’s lineup. He didn’t seem to be missed.Ohtani scored four runs on the night, walking three times to go along with his homer. Betts, meanwhile, went 4-for-6. GUARDIANS USE LONG BALL TO PULL OFF MIRACULOUS WALK-OFF WIN AFTER SQUANDERING LATE LEADNow, the Dodgers are one win away from getting back to the World Series. They last won it all in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, but aside from that, they haven’t won since 1988. It would also be their first appearance in the Fall Classic in a full season since 2018, when they lost to the Boston Red Sox.As for the Mets, they’ll need to win at home Friday, and then in Los Angeles on Sunday and Monday, in order to head back to the World Series. In all, Los Angeles has outscored the Mets, 30-5, this series. This is hardly the first time the Mets have had their backs against the wall this October, but this is the first time that they’ll have to survive and advance for quite some time. It’s yet to be determined who the Mets will pitch while facing elimination, as they will likely go with either Kodai Senga or David Peterson. Los Angeles, meanwhile, will go with Jack Flaherty.Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
